[1]And the chylde Samuel ministred vnto the Lorde before Eli, and the worde of the Lord was precious in those dayes, neither was there any open vision [1]And the childH5288 SamuelH8050 ministeredH8334[H8764] unto the LORDH3068 beforeH6440 EliH5941. And the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 was preciousH3368 in those daysH3117; there was no openH6555[H8737] visionH2377.
[2]And as at that tyme Eli lay in his place, his eyes began to waxe dymme that he coulde not see [2]And it came to pass at that timeH3117, when EliH5941 was laid downH7901[H8802] in his placeH4725, and his eyesH5869 beganH2490[H8689] to wax dimH3544, that he couldH3201[H8799] H7200not seeH8800
[3]And yet the lampe of God went out, Samuel layde hym downe to sleepe in the temple of the Lord, where the arke of God was [3]And ere the lampH5216 of GodH430 went outH3518[H8799] in the templeH1964 of the LORDH3068, where the arkH727 of GodH430 was, and SamuelH8050 was laid downH7901 to sleepH8802;
[4]And the Lorde called Samuel. And he aunswered, I am here [4]That the LORDH3068 calledH7121[H8799] SamuelH8050: and he answeredH559, Here am IH8799.
[5]And he ran vnto Eli, and sayde: Here am I, for thou calledst me. And he said, I called thee not, go againe and sleepe. And he went, and layde hym downe to sleepe [5]And he ranH7323[H8799] unto EliH5941, and saidH559[H8799], Here am IH2009; for thou calledstH7121[H8804] me. And he saidH559[H8799], I calledH7121[H8804] not; lie downH7901[H8798] againH7725[H8798]. And he wentH3212[H8799] and lay downH7901.[H8799]
[6]And the Lorde called once againe, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and sayde: I am here, for thou diddest call me. And he aunswered: I called thee not my sonne, go againe and sleepe [6]And the LORDH3068 calledH7121[H8800] yet againH3254[H8686], SamuelH8050. And SamuelH8050 aroseH6965[H8799] and wentH3212[H8799] to EliH5941, and saidH559[H8799], Here am I; for thou didst callH7121[H8804] me. And he answeredH559[H8799], I calledH7121[H8804] not, my sonH1121; lie downH7901[H8798] againH7725.[H8798]
[7]Samuel knewe not yet the Lorde, neither was the worde of the Lorde yet opened vnto hym [7]Now SamuelH8050 did not yetH2962 knowH3045[H8804] the LORDH3068, neither was the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 yet revealedH1540 unto himH8735.
[8]And the Lorde went to, and called Samuel the thirde tyme. And he arose and went to Eli, and saide: I am here, for thou hast called me. And Eli perceaued that the Lord had called the childe [8]And the LORDH3068 calledH7121[H8800] SamuelH8050 againH3254[H8686] the third timeH7992. And he aroseH6965[H8799] and wentH3212[H8799] to EliH5941, and saidH559[H8799], Here am I; for thou didst callH7121[H8804] me. And EliH5941 perceivedH995[H8799] that the LORDH3068 had calledH7121[H8802] the childH5288.
[9]Therefore Eli sayde vnto Samuel: Go and sleepe, and yf he call thee, then say: Speake Lorde, for thy seruaunt heareth thee. So Samuel went, and slept in his place [9]Therefore EliH5941 saidH559[H8799] unto SamuelH8050, GoH3212[H8798], lie downH7901[H8798]: and it shall be, if he callH7121[H8799] thee, that thou shalt sayH559[H8804], SpeakH1696[H8761], LORDH3068; for thy servantH5650 hearethH8085[H8802]. So SamuelH8050 wentH3212[H8799] and lay downH7901[H8799] in his placeH4725.
[10]And the Lorde came, and stoode and called as before, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel aunswered: Speake, for thy seruaunt heareth [10]And the LORDH3068 cameH935[H8799], and stoodH3320[H8691], and calledH7121[H8799] as at other timesH6471, SamuelH8050, SamuelH8050. Then SamuelH8050 answeredH559[H8799], SpeakH1696[H8761]; for thy servantH5650 hearethH8085.[H8802]
[11]And the Lorde saide to Samuel: Beholde, I wyll do a thing in Israel, that both the eares of as many as heareth it shall tyngle [11]And the LORDH3068 saidH559[H8799] to SamuelH8050, Behold, I will doH6213[H8802] a thingH1697 in IsraelH3478, at which bothH8147 the earsH241 of every one that hearethH8085[H8802] it shall tingleH6750.[H8799]
[12]In that day, I wyll rayse vp against Eli all thynges whiche I haue spoken concernyng his house: when I begyn, I wyll also make an ende [12]In that dayH3117 I will performH6965[H8686] against EliH5941 all things which I have spokenH1696[H8765] concerningH413 his houseH1004: when I beginH2490[H8687], I will also make an endH3615.[H8763]
[13]I haue tolde hym that I wyll iudge his house for euer, for the wickednesse which he knoweth: For whe [the people] cursed his sonnes for ye same [wickednesse] he hath not corrected them [13]For I have toldH5046[H8689] him that I will judgeH8199[H8802] his houseH1004 forH5704 everH5769 for the iniquityH5771 which he knowethH3045[H8804]; because his sonsH1121 made themselves vileH7043[H8764], and he restrainedH3543 them notH8765.
[14]And therfore I haue sworne vnto the house of Eli, that the wickednesse of Elies house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offeryng for euer [14]And therefore I have swornH7650[H8738] unto the houseH1004 of EliH5941, that the iniquityH5771 of Eli'sH5941 houseH1004 shall not be purgedH3722[H8691] with sacrificeH2077 nor offeringH4503 forH5704 everH5769.
[15]Samuel slept vntyl the mornyng, and opened the doores of the house of the Lorde: and Samuel feared to shewe Eli the vision [15]And SamuelH8050 layH7901[H8799] until the morningH1242, and openedH6605[H8799] the doorsH1817 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068. And SamuelH8050 fearedH3372[H8804] to shewH5046[H8687] EliH5941 the visionH4759.
[16]Then Eli called Samuel, and sayde: Samuel, my sonne. And he aunswered: Here am I [16]Then EliH5941 calledH7121[H8799] SamuelH8050, and saidH559[H8799], SamuelH8050, my sonH1121. And he answeredH559, Here am IH8799.
[17]He saide: What is that the Lord hath saide vnto thee? I pray thee hyde it not from me: God do so to thee, & more also, if thou hyde any thyng from me of all that he sayde vnto thee [17]And he saidH559[H8799], What is the thingH1697 that the LORD hath saidH1696[H8765] unto thee? I pray thee hideH3582[H8762] it not from me: GodH430 do soH6213[H8799] to thee, and more alsoH3254[H8686], if thou hideH3582[H8762] any thingH1697 from me of all the thingsH1697 that he saidH1696 unto theeH8765.
[18]And Samuel tolde hym euerywhyt, and hyd nothyng from hym. And he saide: It is the Lord, let hym do what seemeth hym good [18]And SamuelH8050 toldH5046[H8686] him every whitH1697, and hidH3582[H8765] nothing from him. And he saidH559[H8799], It is the LORDH3068: let him doH6213[H8799] what seemethH5869 him goodH2896.
[19]And Samuel grewe, and the Lorde was with hym, and left none of his wordes vnperfourmed [19]And SamuelH8050 grewH1431[H8799], and the LORDH3068 was with him, and did let none of his wordsH1697 fallH5307[H8689] to the groundH776.
[20]And all Israel, from Dan to Beerseba, wyst that faythfull Samuel was the Lordes prophete [20]And all IsraelH3478 from DanH1835 even to BeershebaH884 knewH3045[H8799] that SamuelH8050 was establishedH539[H8737] to be a prophetH5030 of the LORDH3068.
[21]And the Lorde appeared againe in Silo: for the Lorde opened him selfe to Samuel in Silo, through the worde of the Lorde [21]And the LORDH3068 appearedH7200[H8736] againH3254[H8686] in ShilohH7887: for the LORDH3068 revealedH1540[H8738] himself to SamuelH8050 in ShilohH7887 by the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068.
