Greek Textus Receptus (1550/1894)
TR GNT
Peshitta NT (Etheridge, 1849)
PesNT(Eth)
[1]το λοιπον ουν αδελφοι ερωτωμεν υμας και παρακαλουμεν εν κυριω ιησου καθως παρελαβετε παρ ημων το πως δει υμας περιπατειν και αρεσκειν θεω ινα περισσευητε μαλλον [1]HENCE then, my brethren, we pray of you, and beseech of you by our Lord Jeshu, that as you have received of us how it behoveth you to walk and to please Aloha, the more to increase.
[2]οιδατε γαρ τινας παραγγελιας εδωκαμεν υμιν δια του κυριου ιησου [2]For you know those precepts we gave to you in our Lord Jeshu Meshiha.
[3]τουτο γαρ εστιν θελημα του θεου ο αγιασμος υμων απεχεσθαι υμας απο της πορνειας [3]For this is the will of Aloha, your sanctification; and that you be distant from all fornication;
[4]ειδεναι εκαστον υμων το εαυτου σκευος κτασθαι εν αγιασμω και τιμη [4]And that every man of you know to possess his vessel in sanctification and in honour,
[5]μη εν παθει επιθυμιας καθαπερ και τα εθνη τα μη ειδοτα τον θεον [5]And not in the passions of concupiscence, as the rest of the Gentiles who know not Aloha.
[6]το μη υπερβαινειν και πλεονεκτειν εν τω πραγματι τον αδελφον αυτου διοτι εκδικος ο κυριος περι παντων τουτων καθως και προειπαμεν υμιν και διεμαρτυραμεθα [6]And that you dare not transgress, and defraud the one man his brother in this matter, because our Lord is the avenger of all these, as we have also before told you and testified.
[7]ου γαρ εκαλεσεν ημας ο θεος επι ακαθαρσια αλλ εν αγιασμω [7]For Aloha hath not called us to uncleanness, but unto sanctification.
[8]τοιγαρουν ο αθετων ουκ ανθρωπον αθετει αλλα τον θεον τον και δοντα το πνευμα αυτου το αγιον εις ημας [8]Therefore, whoever despiseth, not man he despiseth, but Aloha, who hath ingiven you his Holy Spirit.
[9]περι δε της φιλαδελφιας ου χρειαν εχετε γραφειν υμιν αυτοι γαρ υμεις θεοδιδακτοι εστε εις το αγαπαν αλληλους [9]But concerning the love of the brethren, you need not (that I) write to you; for you yourselves are taught of Aloha to love one another.
[10]και γαρ ποιειτε αυτο εις παντας τους αδελφους τους εν ολη τη μακεδονια παρακαλουμεν δε υμας αδελφοι περισσευειν μαλλον [10]And so do you to all the brethren who are in all Makedunia; but I beseech of you, my brethren, to excel. [therein]
[11]και φιλοτιμεισθαι ησυχαζειν και πρασσειν τα ιδια και εργαζεσθαι ταις ιδιαις χερσιν υμων καθως υμιν παρηγγειλαμεν [11]And study to be quiet and be occupied with your own employments, and work with your hands, as we have admonished you;
[12]ινα περιπατητε ευσχημονως προς τους εξω και μηδενος χρειαν εχητε [12]That you may walk becomingly towards the outward-ones, and of man you may not need.
[13]ου θελω δε υμας αγνοειν αδελφοι περι των κεκοιμημενων ινα μη λυπησθε καθως και οι λοιποι οι μη εχοντες ελπιδα [13]BUT I wish you to know, my brethren, that for those who are asleep you should not have sorrow, as the rest of men, who have no hope.
[14]ει γαρ πιστευομεν οτι ιησους απεθανεν και ανεστη ουτως και ο θεος τους κοιμηθεντας δια του ιησου αξει συν αυτω [14]For if we believe that Jeshu died and arose, so also Aloha those who have slept in Jeshu will bring with him.
[15]τουτο γαρ υμιν λεγομεν εν λογω κυριου οτι ημεις οι ζωντες οι περιλειπομενοι εις την παρουσιαν του κυριου ου μη φθασωμεν τους κοιμηθεντας [15]But this we say to you by the word of our Lord, that we who [may be] remaining at the coming of our Lord, [we] who [then may] live, will not precede those who have slept.
[16]οτι αυτος ο κυριος εν κελευσματι εν φωνη αρχαγγελου και εν σαλπιγγι θεου καταβησεται απ ουρανου και οι νεκροι εν χριστω αναστησονται πρωτον [16]For our Lord himself with the mandate, and with the voice of the chief of angels, and with the trumpet of Aloha, will come down from heaven, and the dead who are in the Meshiha will arise first;
[17]επειτα ημεις οι ζωντες οι περιλειπομενοι αμα συν αυτοις αρπαγησομεθα εν νεφελαις εις απαντησιν του κυριου εις αερα και ουτως παντοτε συν κυριω εσομεθα [17]And then we who remaining [may be] alive, shall be rapt with them together in clouds, to the meeting of our Lord in the expanse; and so always with our Lord shall we be.
[18]ωστε παρακαλειτε αλληλους εν τοις λογοις τουτοις [18]Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
