| [1]I BESEECH you, therefore, first of all to offer to God, petitions, prayers, supplications, and thanksgiving for all men, |
[1]בעא אנא הכיל מנכ דמנ קדמ כל מדמ בעותא תהוא מקרב לאלהא וצלותא ותחננתא ותודיתא חלפ כלהונ בנינשׁא |
| [2]For kings and for all in authority; that we may live a quiet and peaceable life, in all purity and Godliness. |
[2]חלפ מלכא ורורבנא דעומרא שׁליא וניחא נעמר בכלה דחלת אלהא ודכיותא |
| [3]For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour: |
[3]הדא גיר שׁפירא ומקבלא קדמ אלהא מחיננ |
| [4]Who desires all men to be saved and to return to the knowledge of the truth. |
[4]הו דצבא דכלהונ בנינשׁא נחונ ונתפנונ לידעתא דשׁררא |
| [5]For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; |
[5]חד הו גיר אלהא וחד הו מצעיא דאלהא ודבנינשׁא ברנשׁא ישׁוע משׁיחא |
| [6]Who gave himself a ransom for all, a testimony which came in due time. |
[6]הו דיהב נפשׁה פורקנא חלפ כל אנשׁ סהדותא דאתת בזבנה |
| [7]For that testimony I was appointed a preacher and an apostle; I tell the truth and I lie not; and I became the teacher of the Gentiles in a true faith. |
[7]הי דאנא אתתסימת כרוזה ושׁליחה קושׁתא אמר אנא ולא מדגל אנא דהוית מלפנא דעממא בהימנותא דשׁררא |
| [8]I wish, therefore, that men pray everywhere, lifting up their holy hands, without anger and doubting thoughts. |
[8]צבא אנא הכיל דהוו מצלינ גברא בכל דוכא כד מרימינ אידיהונ דכיאית דלא רוגזא ודלא מחשׁבתא |
| [9]In like manner also, let the apparel of women be simple and their adornment be modest and refined; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; |
[9]הכנא אפ נשׁא באסכמא נכפא דלבושׁא בתחמצתא ובנכפותא נהוא תצביתהינ לא בגדולא ובדהבא או במרגניתא או בנחתא שׁפירא |
| [10]But let them be engaged in good works, as is becoming women who profess fear of God. |
[10]אלא בעבדא טבא איכנא דיאא לנשׁא דמשׁתודינ דחלת אלהא |
| [11]Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. |
[11]אנתתא בשׁליא הות ילפא בכל שׁועבד |
| [12]I do not think it seemly for a woman to debate publicly or otherwise usurp the authority of men but should be silent. |
[12]לאנתתא גיר למלפו לא מפס אנא ולא לממרחו על גברא אלא תהוא בשׁליא |
| [13]For Adam was first formed, then Eve. |
[13]אדמ גיר אתגבל לוקדמ והידינ חוא |
| [14]And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and she transgressed the law. |
[14]ואדמ לא טעא אנתתא דינ טעת ועברת על פוקדנא |
| [15]Nevertheless, if her posterity continue in faith and have holiness and chastity, she will live, through them. |
[15]חיא דינ ביד ילדיה אנ נקוונ בהימנותא ובחובא ובקדישׁותא ובנכפותא |
