| [2]בִּשְׁנַת־שֶׁבַע לְיֵהוּא מָלַךְ יְהֹואָשׁ וְאַרְבָּעִים שָׁנָה מָלַךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָם וְשֵׁם אִמֹּו צִבְיָה מִבְּאֵר שָׁבַע׃ |
[2]And JehoashH3060 didH6213[H8799] that which was rightH3477 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068 all his daysH3117 wherein JehoiadaH3077 the priestH3548 instructedH3384 himH8689. |
| [3]וַיַּעַשׂ יְהֹואָשׁ הַיָּשָׁר בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה כָּל־יָמָיו אֲשֶׁר הֹורָהוּ יְהֹויָדָע הַכֹּהֵן׃ |
[3]But the high placesH1116 were not taken awayH5493[H8804]: the peopleH5971 still sacrificedH2076[H8764] and burnt incenseH6999[H8764] in the high placesH1116. |
| [4]רַק הַבָּמֹות לֹא־סָרוּ עֹוד הָעָם מְזַבְּחִים וּמְקַטְּרִים בַּבָּמֹות׃ |
[4]And JehoashH3060 saidH559[H8799] to the priestsH3548, All the moneyH3701 of the dedicated thingsH6944 that is broughtH935[H8714] into the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, even the moneyH3701 of every oneH376 that passethH5674[H8802] the account, the moneyH3701 that every manH5315 is set atH6187, and all the moneyH3701 that comethH5927[H8799] into any man'sH376 heartH3820 to bringH935[H8687] into the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, |
| [5]וַיֹּאמֶר יְהֹואָשׁ אֶל־הַכֹּהֲנִים כֹּל כֶּסֶף הַקֳּדָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר־יוּבָא בֵית־יְהוָה כֶּסֶף עֹובֵר אִישׁ כֶּסֶף נַפְשֹׁות עֶרְכֹּו כָּל־כֶּסֶף אֲשֶׁר יַעֲלֶה עַל לֶב־אִישׁ לְהָבִיא בֵּית יְהוָה׃ |
[5]Let the priestsH3548 takeH3947[H8799] it to them, every manH376 of his acquaintanceH4378: and let them repairH2388[H8762] the breachesH919 of the houseH1004, wheresoever any breachH919 shall be foundH4672.[H8735] |
| [6]יִקְחוּ לָהֶם הַכֹּהֲנִים אִישׁ מֵאֵת מַכָּרֹו וְהֵם יְחַזְּקוּ אֶת־בֶּדֶק הַבַּיִת לְכֹל אֲשֶׁר־יִמָּצֵא שָׁם בָּדֶק׃ |
[6]But it was so, that in the threeH7969[H8141] and twentiethH6242 yearH8141 of kingH4428 JehoashH3060 the priestsH3548 had not repairedH2388[H8765] the breachesH919 of the houseH1004. |
| [7]וַיְהִי בִּשְׁנַת עֶשְׂרִים וְשָׁלֹשׁ שָׁנָה לַמֶּלֶךְ יְהֹואָשׁ לֹא־חִזְּקוּ הַכֹּהֲנִים אֶת־בֶּדֶק הַבָּיִת׃ |
[7]Then kingH4428 JehoashH3060 calledH7121[H8799] for JehoiadaH3077 the priestH3548, and the other priestsH3548, and saidH559[H8799] unto them, Why repairH2388[H8764] ye not the breachesH919 of the houseH1004? now therefore receiveH3947[H8799] no more moneyH3701 of your acquaintanceH4378, but deliverH5414[H8799] it for the breachesH919 of the houseH1004. |
| [8]וַיִּקְרָא הַמֶּלֶךְ יְהֹואָשׁ לִיהֹויָדָע הַכֹּהֵן וְלַכֹּהֲנִים וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵהֶם מַדּוּעַ אֵינְכֶם מְחַזְּקִים אֶת־בֶּדֶק הַבָּיִת וְעַתָּה אַל־תִּקְחוּ־כֶסֶף מֵאֵת מַכָּרֵיכֶם כִּי־לְבֶדֶק הַבַּיִת תִּתְּנֻהוּ׃ |
[8]And the priestsH3548 consentedH225[H8735] to receiveH3947[H8800] noH1115 more moneyH3701 of the peopleH5971, neitherH1115 to repairH2388[H8763] the breachesH919 of the houseH1004. |
| [9]וַיֵּאֹתוּ הַכֹּהֲנִים לְבִלְתִּי קְחַת־כֶּסֶף מֵאֵת הָעָם וּלְבִלְתִּי חַזֵּק אֶת־בֶּדֶק הַבָּיִת׃ |
[9]But JehoiadaH3077 the priestH3548 tookH3947[H8799] aH259 chestH727, and boredH5344[H8799] a holeH2356 in the lidH1817 of it, and setH5414[H8799] it besideH681 the altarH4196, on the right sideH3225 as oneH376 comethH935[H8800] into the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068: and the priestsH3548 that keptH8104[H8802] the doorH5592 putH5414[H8804] therein all the moneyH3701 that was broughtH935[H8716] into the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068. |
| [10]וַיִּקַּח יְהֹויָדָע הַכֹּהֵן אֲרֹון אֶחָד וַיִּקֹּב חֹר בְּדַלְתֹּו וַיִּתֵּן אֹתֹו אֵצֶל הַמִּזְבֵּחַ בַּיָּמִין [Q: מִיָּמִין] בְּבֹוא־אִישׁ בֵּית יְהוָה וְנָתְנוּ־שָׁמָּה הַכֹּהֲנִים שֹׁמְרֵי הַסַּף אֶת־כָּל־הַכֶּסֶף הַמּוּבָא בֵית־יְהוָה׃ |
[10]And it was so, when they sawH7200[H8800] that there was muchH7227 moneyH3701 in the chestH727, that the king'sH4428 scribeH5608[H8802] and the highH1419 priestH3548 came upH5927[H8799], and they put up in bagsH6696[H8799], and toldH4487[H8799] the moneyH3701 that was foundH4672[H8737] in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068. |
| [11]וַיְהִי כִּרְאֹותָם כִּי־רַב הַכֶּסֶף בָּאָרֹון וַיַּעַל סֹפֵר הַמֶּלֶךְ וְהַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדֹול וַיָּצֻרוּ וַיִּמְנוּ אֶת־הַכֶּסֶף הַנִּמְצָא בֵית־יְהוָה׃ |
[11]And they gaveH5414[H8804] the moneyH3701, being toldH8505[H8794], into the handsH3027 of them that didH6213[H8802] the workH4399, that had the oversightH6485[H8716][H8675][H6485][H8803] of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068: and they laid it outH3318[H8686] to the carpentersH2796[H6086] and buildersH1129[H8802], that wroughtH6213[H8802] upon the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, |
| [12]וְנָתְנוּ אֶת־הַכֶּסֶף הַמְתֻכָּן עַל־יַד [Q: יְדֵי] עֹשֵׂי הַמְּלָאכָה הַפְּקֻדִים הַמֻּפְקָדִים בֵּית יְהוָה וַיֹּוצִיאֻהוּ לְחָרָשֵׁי הָעֵץ וְלַבֹּנִים הָעֹשִׂים בֵּית יְהוָה׃ |
[12]And to masonsH1443[H8802], and hewersH2672[H8802] of stoneH68, and to buyH7069[H8800] timberH6086 and hewedH4274 stoneH68 to repairH2388[H8763] the breachesH919 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and for all that was laid outH3318[H8799] for the houseH1004 to repair itH2394. |
| [13]וְלַגֹּדְרִים וּלְחֹצְבֵי הָאֶבֶן וְלִקְנֹות עֵצִים וְאַבְנֵי מַחְצֵב לְחַזֵּק אֶת־בֶּדֶק בֵּית־יְהוָה וּלְכֹל אֲשֶׁר־יֵצֵא עַל־הַבַּיִת לְחָזְקָה׃ |
[13]Howbeit there were not madeH6213[H8735] for the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068 bowlsH5592 of silverH3701, snuffersH4212, basonsH4219, trumpetsH2689, any vesselsH3627 of goldH2091, or vesselsH3627 of silverH3701, of the moneyH3701 that was broughtH935[H8716] into the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068: |
| [14]אַךְ לֹא יֵעָשֶׂה בֵּית יְהוָה סִפֹּות כֶּסֶף מְזַמְּרֹות מִזְרָקֹות חֲצֹצְרֹות כָּל־כְּלִי זָהָב וּכְלִי־כָסֶף מִן־הַכֶּסֶף הַמּוּבָא בֵית־יְהוָה׃ |
[14]But they gaveH5414[H8799] that to the workmenH4399[H6213][H8802], and repairedH2388[H8765] therewith the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068. |
| [15]כִּי־לְעֹשֵׂי הַמְּלָאכָה יִתְּנֻהוּ וְחִזְּקוּ־בֹו אֶת־בֵּית יְהוָה׃ |
[15]Moreover they reckonedH2803[H8762] not with the menH582, into whose handH3027 they deliveredH5414[H8799] the moneyH3701 to be bestowedH5414[H8800] on workmenH4399: for they dealtH6213[H8802] faithfullyH530. |
| [16]וְלֹא יְחַשְּׁבוּ אֶת־הָאֲנָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר יִתְּנוּ אֶת־הַכֶּסֶף עַל־יָדָם לָתֵת לְעֹשֵׂי הַמְּלָאכָה כִּי בֶאֱמֻנָה הֵם עֹשִׂים׃ |
[16]The trespassH817 moneyH3701 and sinH2403 moneyH3701 was not broughtH935[H8714] into the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068: it was the priests'H3548. |
| [17]כֶּסֶף אָשָׁם וְכֶסֶף חַטָּאֹות לֹא יוּבָא בֵּית יְהוָה לַכֹּהֲנִים יִהְיוּ׃ |
[17]Then HazaelH2371 kingH4428 of SyriaH758 went upH5927[H8799], and foughtH3898[H8735] against GathH1661, and tookH3920[H8799] it: and HazaelH2371 setH7760[H8799] his faceH6440 to go upH5927[H8800] to JerusalemH3389. |
| [18]אָז יַעֲלֶה חֲזָאֵל מֶלֶךְ אֲרָם וַיִּלָּחֶם עַל־גַּת וַיִּלְכְּדָהּ וַיָּשֶׂם חֲזָאֵל פָּנָיו לַעֲלֹות עַל־יְרוּשָׁלִָם׃ |
[18]And JehoashH3060 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 tookH3947[H8799] all the hallowed thingsH6944 that JehoshaphatH3092, and JehoramH3088, and AhaziahH274, his fathersH1, kingsH4428 of JudahH3063, had dedicatedH6942[H8689], and his own hallowed thingsH6944, and all the goldH2091 that was foundH4672[H8737] in the treasuresH214 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and in the king'sH4428 houseH1004, and sentH7971[H8799] it to HazaelH2371 kingH4428 of SyriaH758: and he went awayH5927[H8799] from JerusalemH3389. |
| [19]וַיִּקַּח יְהֹואָשׁ מֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָה אֵת כָּל־הַקֳּדָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר־הִקְדִּישׁוּ יְהֹושָׁפָט וִיהֹורָם וַאֲחַזְיָהוּ אֲבֹתָיו מַלְכֵי יְהוּדָה וְאֶת־קֳדָשָׁיו וְאֵת כָּל־הַזָּהָב הַנִּמְצָא בְּאֹצְרֹות בֵּית־יְהוָה וּבֵית הַמֶּלֶךְ וַיִּשְׁלַח לַחֲזָאֵל מֶלֶךְ אֲרָם וַיַּעַל מֵעַל יְרוּשָׁלִָם׃ |
[19]And the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of JoashH3101, and all that he didH6213[H8804], are they not writtenH3789[H8803] in the bookH5612 of the chroniclesH1697[H3117] of the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063? |
| [20]וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי יֹואָשׁ וְכָל־אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה הֲלֹוא־הֵם כְּתוּבִים עַל־סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים לְמַלְכֵי יְהוּדָה׃ |
[20]And his servantsH5650 aroseH6965[H8799], and madeH7194[H8799] a conspiracyH7195, and slewH5221[H8686] JoashH3101 in the houseH1004 of MilloH4407[H8677][H1037], which goeth downH3381[H8802] to SillaH5538. |
| [21]וַיָּקֻמוּ עֲבָדָיו וַיִּקְשְׁרוּ־קָשֶׁר וַיַּכּוּ אֶת־יֹואָשׁ בֵּית מִלֹּא הַיֹּורֵד סִלָּא׃ |
[21]For JozacharH3108 the sonH1121 of ShimeathH8100, and JehozabadH3075 the sonH1121 of ShomerH7763, his servantsH5650, smoteH5221[H8689] him, and he diedH4191[H8799]; and they buriedH6912[H8799] him with his fathersH1 in the cityH5892 of DavidH1732: and AmaziahH558 his sonH1121 reignedH4427 in his steadH8799. |
| [22]וְיֹוזָבָד בֶּן־שִׁמְעָת וִיהֹוזָבָד בֶּן־שֹׁמֵר עֲבָדָיו הִכֻּהוּ וַיָּמֹת וַיִּקְבְּרוּ אֹתֹו עִם־אֲבֹתָיו בְּעִיר דָּוִד וַיִּמְלֹךְ אֲמַצְיָה בְנֹו תַּחְתָּיו׃ |
