| [1]Now about that time, Herod the King stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the Church. |
[1]בהו דינ זבנא ארמי הוא אידיא על אנשׁינ דבעדתא איכ דנבאשׁ להונ הרודס מלכא הו דמתכנא הוא אגרפוס |
| [2]And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. |
[2]וקטל בסיפא ליעקוב אחוהי דיוחננ |
| [3]And when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further, to take Peter also (then were the days of unleavened bread.) |
[3]וכד חזא דשׁפרת הדא ליהודיא אוספ הוא למאחד אפ לשׁמעונ כאפא ואיתיהונ הוו יומתא דפטירא |
| [4]And when he had caught him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to be kept, intending after the Passover to bring him forth to the people. |
[4]ואחדה וארמיה בית אסירא ואשׁלמ לה שׁתתעסר סטרטוטינ דנטרונה דמנ בתר פצחא נשׁלמיוהי לעמא דיהודיא |
| [5]So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer was made of the Church unto God for him. |
[5]וכד הו שׁמעונ מתנטר הוא בית אסירא צלותא אמינתא מתקרבא הות מנ עדתא חלפוהי לאלהא |
| [6]And when Herod would have brought him out unto the people, the same night slept Peter between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and the keepers before the door kept the prison. |
[6]ובה בהו לליא דלצפרא עתיד הוא דנשׁלמיוהי כד דמכ הוא שׁמעונ בית תרינ אסטרטיוטינ ואסיר הוא בתרתינ שׁשׁלנ ואחרנא נטרינ הוו תרעא דבית אסירא |
| [7]And behold, the Angel of the Lord came upon them, and a light shined in the house, and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. |
[7]מלאכא דמריא קמ לעל מנה ונוהרא אזלג בכלה ביתא ודקרה בגבה ואקימה ואמר לה קומ עגל ונפל שׁשׁלתא מנ אידוהי |
| [8]And the Angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. Then he said unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. |
[8]ואמר לה מלאכא אסור חציכ וסאנ טלריכ ועבד הכנא ותוב אמר לה אתעטפ תכסיתכ ותא בתרי |
| [9]So Peter came out and followed him, and knew not that it was true, which was done by the Angel, but thought he had seen a vision. |
[9]ונפק ואזל הוא בתרה כד לא ידע הוא דשׁרירא הות הי דהויא הות ביד מלאכא סבר הוא גיר דחזוא חזא הוא |
| [10]Now when they were past the first and the second watch, they came unto the iron gate, that leadeth unto the city, which opened to them by it own accord, and they went out, and passed through one street, and by and by the Angel departed from him. |
[10]וכד עברו מטרתא קדמיתא ודתרתינ אתו עדמא לתרעא דפרזלא ואתפתח להונ מנ צבות נפשׁה וכד נפקו ועברו שׁוקא חד פרק מנ לותה מלאכא |
| [11] And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know for a truth, that the Lord hath sent his Angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the waiting for of the people of the Jews. |
[11]הידינ אשׁתודע שׁמעונ ואמר השׁא ידעת בקושׁתא דמריא שׁדר מלאכה ופלטני מנ אידה דהרודס מלכא ומנ מדמ דמתחשׁבינ הוו עלי יהודיא |
| [12]And as he considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John, whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together and prayed. |
[12]וכד אסתכל אתא לה לביתא דמרימ אמה דיוחננ הו דאתכני מרקוס מטל דאחא סגיאא תמנ כנישׁינ הוו ומצלינ |
| [13]And when Peter knocked at the entry door, a maid came forth to hearken, named Rhoda, |
[13]ונקשׁ בתרעא דדרתא ונפקת דתעניוהי טליתא דשׁמה רודא |
| [14]But when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the entry door for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the entry. |
[14]ואשׁתודעת קלה דשׁמעונ ובחדותה לא פתחת לה תרעא אלא הפכת ברהטא ואמרא להונ שׁמעונ הא קאמ על תרעא דדרתא |
| [15]But they said unto her, Thou art mad. Yet she affirmed it constantly, that it was so. Then said they, It is his Angel. |
[15]אמרינ לה מזע זעתי לכי והי מתחריא הות דהדא הכנא הי אמרינ לה כבר מלאכה הו |
| [16]But Peter continued knocking, and when they had opened it, and saw him, they were astonished. |
[16]ושׁמעונ נקשׁ הוא בתרעא ונפקו חזאוהי ותמהו להונ |
| [17]And he beckoned unto them with the hand, to hold their peace, and told them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go show these things unto James and to the brethren: and he departed and went into another place. |
[17]ומניפ הוא להונ אידה איכ דנשׁתקונ להונ ועל ואשׁתעי להונ איכנא מריא אפקה מנ בית אסירא ואמר להונ אשׁתעו הלינ ליעקוב ולאחינ ונפק אזל לה לאתר אחרינ |
| [18] Now as soon as it was day, there was no small trouble among the soldiers, what was become of Peter. |
[18]וכד הוא צפרא הוא הוא רובא סגיאא בית אסטרטיוטא על שׁמעונ דמנא הוא לה |
| [19]And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded them to be led to be punished. And he went down from Judea to Cesarea, and there abode. |
[19]הרודס דינ כד בעיהי ולא אשׁכחה דנ אנונ לנטורא ופקד דנמותונ ונפק לה מנ יהוד ואיתוהי הוא בקסריא |
| [20]Then Herod intended to make war against them of Tyrus and Sidon, but they came all with one accord unto him, and persuaded Blastus the King's Chamberlain, and they desired peace, because their country was nourished by the King's land. |
[20]ומטל דרגיז הוא על צוריא ועל צידניא אתכנשׁו ואתו לותה אכחדא ואפיסו לבלסטוס קיטונקנה דמלכא ושׁאלו מנה דנהוא להונ שׁינא מטל דפורנסא דאתרהונ מנ מלכותה הוא דהרודס |
| [21]And upon a day appointed, Herod arrayed himself in royal apparel, and sat on the judgment seat, and made an oration unto them. |
[21]ביומא דינ ידיעא לבשׁ הוא הרודס לבושׁא דמלכותא ויתב על בימ וממלל הוא עמ כנשׁא |
| [22]And the people gave a shout, saying, The voice of God, and not of man. |
[22]עמא דינ כלה קעא הוא ואמר הלינ בנת קלא דאלהא אנינ ולא הוי דבנינשׁא |
| [23]But immediately the Angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not glory unto God, so that he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost. |
[23]וחלפ דלא יהב תשׁבוחתא לאלהא בה בשׁעתא מחיהי מלאכה דמריא ורפת בתולעא ומית |
| [24]And the word of God grew, and multiplied. |
[24]וסברתא דאלהא מתכרזא הות ורביא |
| [25]So Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their office, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark. |
[25]ברנבא דינ ושׁאול פנו מנ אורשׁלמ לאנטיוכי מנ בתר דשׁלמו תשׁמשׁתהונ ודברו עמהונ ליוחננ הו דאתכני מרקוס |
