Peshitta NT (Murdock, 1852)
PesNT(Mur)
[1]και υμας οντας νεκρους τοις παραπτωμασιν και ταις αμαρτιαις [1]and also you, [he filleth,] who were dead in your sins, and in your offences,
[2]εν αις ποτε περιεπατησατε κατα τον αιωνα του κοσμου τουτου κατα τον αρχοντα της εξουσιας του αερος του πνευματος του νυν ενεργουντος εν τοις υιοις της απειθειας [2]in the which ye before walked, according to the worldliness of this world, and according to the pleasure of the prince potentate of the air, that spirit which is active in the children of disobedience:
[3]εν οις και ημεις παντες ανεστραφημεν ποτε εν ταις επιθυμιαις της σαρκος ημων ποιουντες τα θεληματα της σαρκος και των διανοιων και ημεν τεκνα φυσει οργης ως και οι λοιποι [3]in which deeds we also, formerly, were conversant, in the cravings of our flesh; and we did the pleasure of our flesh, and of our mind, and were altogether the children of wrath, like the rest.
[4]ο δε θεος πλουσιος ων εν ελεει δια την πολλην αγαπην αυτου ην ηγαπησεν ημας [4]But God who is rich in his mercies, because of the great love with which he loved us,
[5]και οντας ημας νεκρους τοις παραπτωμασιν συνεζωοποιησεν τω χριστω χαριτι εστε σεσωσμενοι [5]when we were dead in our sins, quickened us with the Messiah, and rescued us by his grace;
[6]και συνηγειρεν και συνεκαθισεν εν τοις επουρανιοις εν χριστω ιησου [6]and resuscitated us with him, and seated us with him in heaven, in Jesus the Messiah:
[7]ινα ενδειξηται εν τοις αιωσιν τοις επερχομενοις τον υπερβαλλοντα πλουτον της χαριτος αυτου εν χρηστοτητι εφ ημας εν χριστω ιησου [7]that he might show to the coming ages the magnitude of the riches of his grace, and his benignity towards us in Jesus the Messiah.
[8]τη γαρ χαριτι εστε σεσωσμενοι δια της πιστεως και τουτο ουκ εξ υμων θεου το δωρον [8]For it is by his grace we are rescued, through faith; and this is not of yourselves, but it is the gift of God:
[9]ουκ εξ εργων ινα μη τις καυχησηται [9]not of works, lest any one glory.
[10]αυτου γαρ εσμεν ποιημα κτισθεντες εν χριστω ιησου επι εργοις αγαθοις οις προητοιμασεν ο θεος ινα εν αυτοις περιπατησωμεν [10]For we are his creation ; who are created in Jesus the Messiah, for good works, which God hath before prepared for us to walk in.
[11]διο μνημονευετε οτι υμεις ποτε τα εθνη εν σαρκι οι λεγομενοι ακροβυστια υπο της λεγομενης περιτομης εν σαρκι χειροποιητου [11]Wherefore be mindful, that ye formerly were carnal Gentiles; and ye were called the uncircumcision, by that which is called the circumcision, and which is the work of the hands in the flesh.
[12]οτι ητε εν τω καιρω εκεινω χωρις χριστου απηλλοτριωμενοι της πολιτειας του ισραηλ και ξενοι των διαθηκων της επαγγελιας ελπιδα μη εχοντες και αθεοι εν τω κοσμω [12]And ye were, at that time, without the Messiah; and were aliens from the regulations of Israel; and strangers to the covenant of the promise; and were without hope, and without God, in the world.
[13]νυνι δε εν χριστω ιησου υμεις οι ποτε οντες μακραν εγγυς εγενηθητε εν τω αιματι του χριστου [13]But now, by Jesus the Messiah, ye who before were afar off, have been brought near by the blood of the Messiah.
[14]αυτος γαρ εστιν η ειρηνη ημων ο ποιησας τα αμφοτερα εν και το μεσοτοιχον του φραγμου λυσας [14]For he is himself our peace, who hath made the two [become] one, and hath demolished the wall which stood in the midst, and the enmity, by his flesh;
[15]την εχθραν εν τη σαρκι αυτου τον νομον των εντολων εν δογμασιν καταργησας ινα τους δυο κτιση εν εαυτω εις ενα καινον ανθρωπον ποιων ειρηνην [15]and by his prescriptions he hath abolished the law of ordinances; that, in himself, he might make the two to be one new man; and he hath made peace,
[16]και αποκαταλλαξη τους αμφοτερους εν ενι σωματι τω θεω δια του σταυρου αποκτεινας την εχθραν εν αυτω [16]and hath reconciled both with God, in one body, and hath slain the enmity by his cross.
[17]και ελθων ευηγγελισατο ειρηνην υμιν τοις μακραν και τοις εγγυς [17]And he came, and proclaimed peace to you afar off, and to those near:
[18]οτι δι αυτου εχομεν την προσαγωγην οι αμφοτεροι εν ενι πνευματι προς τον πατερα [18]because, by him there is access for us both, by one Spirit, unto the Father.
[19]αρα ουν ουκετι εστε ξενοι και παροικοι αλλα συμπολιται των αγιων και οικειοι του θεου [19]Wherefore, ye are not strangers, nor sojourners, but ye are fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God.
[20]εποικοδομηθεντες επι τω θεμελιω των αποστολων και προφητων οντος ακρογωνιαιου αυτου ιησου χριστου [20]And ye are built upon the foundations of the legates and the prophets; and Jesus the Messiah hath become the head of the corner in the edifice.
[21]εν ω πασα οικοδομη συναρμολογουμενη αυξει εις ναον αγιον εν κυριω [21]And in him all the edifice is framed together, and groweth into a holy temple in the Lord;
[22]εν ω και υμεις συνοικοδομεισθε εις κατοικητηριον του θεου εν πνευματι [22]while ye also are builded in him, for a habitation of God through the Spirit.
