[1]And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt saying, |
| [2]This monthH2320 shall be unto you the beginningH7218 of monthsH2320: it shall be the firstH7223 monthH2320 of the year to youH8141. |
[2]This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you. |
| [3]SpeakH1696[H8761] ye unto all the congregationH5712 of IsraelH3478, sayingH559[H8800], In the tenthH6218 day of this monthH2320 they shall takeH3947[H8799] to them every manH376 a lambH7716, according to the houseH1004 of their fathersH1, a lambH7716 for an houseH1004: |
[3]Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house: |
| [4]And if the householdH1004 beH1961[H8800] too littleH4591[H8799] for the lambH7716, let him and his neighbourH7934 nextH7138 unto his houseH1004 takeH3947[H8804] it according to the numberH4373 of the soulsH5315; every manH376 accordingH6310 to his eatingH400 shall make your countH3699[H8799] for the lambH7716. |
[4]And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb. |
| [5]Your lambH7716 shall be without blemishH8549, a maleH2145 of the firstH1121 yearH8141: ye shall takeH3947[H8799] it out from the sheepH3532, or from the goatsH5795: |
[5]Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: |
| [6]And ye shall keepH4931 it up until the fourteenthH702[H6240] dayH3117 of the same monthH2320: and the wholeH3605 assemblyH6951 of the congregationH5712 of IsraelH3478 shall killH7819[H8804] it inH996 the eveningH6153. |
[6]And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. |
| [7]And they shall takeH3947[H8804] of the bloodH1818, and strikeH5414[H8804] it on the twoH8147 side postsH4201 and on the upper door postH4947 of the housesH1004, wherein they shall eatH398 itH8799. |
[7]And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. |
| [8]And they shall eatH398[H8804] the fleshH1320 in that nightH3915, roastH6748 with fireH784, and unleavened breadH4682; and with bitterH4844 herbs they shall eatH398 itH8799. |
[8]And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. |
| [9]EatH398[H8799] not of it rawH4995, nor soddenH1310[H8794][H1311] at all with waterH4325, but roastH6748 with fireH784; his headH7218 with his legsH3767, and with the purtenance thereofH7130. |
[9]Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof. |
| [10]And ye shall let nothing of it remainH3498[H8686] until the morningH1242; and that which remainethH3498[H8737] of it until the morningH1242 ye shall burnH8313[H8799] with fireH784. |
[10]And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire. |
| [11]And thusH3602 shall ye eatH398[H8799] it; with your loinsH4975 girdedH2296[H8803], your shoesH5275 on your feetH7272, and your staffH4731 in your handH3027; and ye shall eatH398[H8804] it in hasteH2649: it is the LORD'SH3068 passoverH6453. |
[11]And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD's passover. |
| [12]For I will passH5674[H8804] through the landH776 of EgyptH4714 this nightH3915, and will smiteH5221[H8689] all the firstbornH1060 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, both manH120 and beastH929; and against all the godsH430 of EgyptH4714 I will executeH6213[H8799] judgmentH8201: I am the LORDH3068. |
[12]For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. |
| [13]And the bloodH1818 shall be to you for a tokenH226 upon the housesH1004 where ye are: and when I seeH7200[H8804] the bloodH1818, I will passH6452[H8804] over you, and the plagueH5063 shall not be upon you to destroyH4889 you, when I smiteH5221[H8687] the landH776 of EgyptH4714. |
[13]And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. |
| [14]And this dayH3117 shall be unto you for a memorialH2146; and ye shall keepH2287[H8804] it a feastH2282 to the LORDH3068 throughout your generationsH1755; ye shall keep it a feastH2287[H8799] by an ordinanceH2708 for everH5769. |
[14]And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever. |
| [15]SevenH7651 daysH3117 shall ye eatH398[H8799] unleavened breadH4682; evenH389 the firstH7223 dayH3117 ye shall put awayH7673[H8686] leavenH7603 out of your housesH1004: for whosoever eatethH398[H8802] leavened breadH2557 from the firstH7223 dayH3117 until the seventhH7637 dayH3117, that soulH5315 shall be cutH3772[H8738] off from IsraelH3478. |
[15]Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel. |
| [16]And in the firstH7223 dayH3117 there shall be an holyH6944 convocationH4744, and in the seventhH7637 dayH3117 there shall be an holyH6944 convocationH4744 to you; no manner of workH4399 shall be doneH6213[H8735] in them, saveH389 that which every manH5315 must eatH398[H8735], that only may be doneH6213 of youH8735. |
[16]And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you. |
| [17]And ye shall observeH8104[H8804] the feast of unleavened breadH4682; for in this selfsameH6106 dayH3117 have I broughtH3318[H8689] your armiesH6635 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714: therefore shall ye observeH8104[H8804] this dayH3117 in your generationsH1755 by an ordinanceH2708 for everH5769. |
[17]And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever. |
| [18]In the firstH7223 month, on the fourteenthH6240[H702] dayH3117 of the monthH2320 at evenH6153, ye shall eatH398[H8799] unleavened breadH4682, until the oneH259 and twentiethH6242 dayH3117 of the monthH2320 at evenH6153. |
[18]In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even. |
| [19]SevenH7651 daysH3117 shall there be no leavenH7603 foundH4672[H8735] in your housesH1004: for whosoever eatethH398[H8802] that which is leavenedH2556[H8688], even that soulH5315 shall be cut offH3772[H8738] from the congregationH5712 of IsraelH3478, whether he be a strangerH1616, or bornH249 in the landH776. |
[19]Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land. |
| [20]Ye shall eatH398[H8799] nothing leavenedH2556[H8688]; in all your habitationsH4186 shall ye eatH398[H8799] unleavened breadH4682. |
[20]Ye shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread. |
| [21]Then MosesH4872 calledH7121[H8799] for all the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478, and saidH559[H8799] unto them, Draw outH4900[H8798] and takeH3947[H8798] you a lambH6629 according to your familiesH4940, and killH7819[H8798] the passoverH6453. |
[21]Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover. |
| [22]And ye shall takeH3947[H8804] a bunchH92 of hyssopH231, and dipH2881[H8804] it in the bloodH1818 that is in the basonH5592, and strikeH5060[H8689] the lintelH4947 and the twoH8147 side postsH4201 with the bloodH1818 that is in the basonH5592; and noneH376 of you shall go outH3318[H8799] at the doorH6607 of his houseH1004 until the morningH1242. |
[22]And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. |
| [23]For the LORDH3068 will pass throughH5674[H8804] to smiteH5062[H8800] the EgyptiansH4714; and when he seethH7200[H8804] the bloodH1818 upon the lintelH4947, and on the twoH8147 side postsH4201, the LORDH3068 will pass overH6452[H8804] the doorH6607, and will not sufferH5414[H8799] the destroyerH7843[H8688] to comeH935[H8800] in unto your housesH1004 to smiteH5062 youH8800. |
[23]For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you. |
| [24]And ye shall observeH8104[H8804] this thingH1697 for an ordinanceH2706 to thee and to thy sonsH1121 forH5704 everH5769. |
[24]And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever. |
| [25]And it shall come to pass, when ye be comeH935[H8799] to the landH776 which the LORDH3068 will giveH5414[H8799] you, according as he hath promisedH1696[H8765], that ye shall keepH8104[H8804] this serviceH5656. |
[25]And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the LORD will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service. |
| [26]And it shall come to pass, when your childrenH1121 shall sayH559[H8799] unto you, What mean ye by this serviceH5656? |
[26]And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? |
| [27]That ye shall sayH559[H8804], It is the sacrificeH2077 of the LORD'SH3068 passoverH6453, who passedH6452[H8804] over the housesH1004 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 in EgyptH4714, when he smoteH5062[H8800] the EgyptiansH4714, and deliveredH5337[H8689] our housesH1004. And the peopleH5971 bowed the headH6915[H8799] and worshippedH7812.[H8691] |
[27]That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD's passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped. |
| [28]And the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 went awayH3212[H8799], and didH6213[H8799] as the LORDH3068 had commandedH6680[H8765] MosesH4872 and AaronH175, so didH6213 theyH8804. |
[28]And the children of Israel went away, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they. |
| [29]And it came to pass, that at midnightH2677[H3915] the LORDH3068 smoteH5221[H8689] all the firstbornH1060 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, from the firstbornH1060 of PharaohH6547 that satH3427[H8802] on his throneH3678 unto the firstbornH1060 of the captiveH7628 that was in the dungeonH1004[H953]; and all the firstbornH1060 of cattleH929. |
[29]And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. |
| [30]And PharaohH6547 rose upH6965[H8799] in the nightH3915, he, and all his servantsH5650, and all the EgyptiansH4714; and there was a greatH1419 cryH6818 in EgyptH4714; for there was not a houseH1004 where there was not one deadH4191.[H8801] |
[30]And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead. |
| [31]And he calledH7121[H8799] for MosesH4872 and AaronH175 by nightH3915, and saidH559[H8799], Rise upH6965[H8798], and get you forthH3318[H8798] from amongH8432 my peopleH5971, both ye and the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478; and goH3212[H8798], serveH5647[H8798] the LORDH3068, as ye have saidH1696.[H8763] |
[31]And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said. |
| [32]Also takeH3947[H8798] your flocksH6629 and your herdsH1241, as ye have saidH1696[H8765], and be goneH3212[H8798]; and blessH1288 me alsoH8765. |
[32]Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also. |
| [33]And the EgyptiansH4714 were urgentH2388[H8799] upon the peopleH5971, that they might sendH7971[H8763] them out of the landH776 in hasteH4116[H8763]; for they saidH559[H8804], We be all deadH4191 menH8801. |
[33]And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men. |
| [34]And the peopleH5971 tookH5375[H8799] their doughH1217 before it was leavenedH2556[H8799], their kneadingtroughsH4863 being bound upH6887[H8803] in their clothesH8071 upon their shouldersH7926. |
[34]And the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneadingtroughs being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders. |
| [35]And the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 didH6213[H8804] according to the wordH1697 of MosesH4872; and they borrowedH7592[H8799] of the EgyptiansH4714 jewelsH3627 of silverH3701, and jewelsH3627 of goldH2091, and raimentH8071: |
[35]And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: |
| [36]And the LORDH3068 gaveH5414[H8804] the peopleH5971 favourH2580 in the sightH5869 of the EgyptiansH4714, so that they lentH7592[H8686] unto them such things as they required. And they spoiledH5337[H8762] the EgyptiansH4714. |
[36]And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians. |
| [37]And the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 journeyedH5265[H8799] from RamesesH7486 to SuccothH5523, about sixH8337 hundredH3967 thousandH505 on footH7273 that were menH1397, besideH905 childrenH2945. |
[37]And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children. |
| [38]And a mixedH6154 multitudeH7227 went upH5927[H8804] also with them; and flocksH6629, and herdsH1241, even veryH3966 muchH3515 cattleH4735. |
[38]And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle. |
| [39]And they bakedH644[H8799] unleavenedH4682 cakesH5692 of the doughH1217 which they brought forthH3318[H8689] out of EgyptH4714, for it was not leavenedH2556[H8804]; because they were thrust outH1644[H8795] of EgyptH4714, and couldH3201[H8804] not tarryH4102[H8699], neither had they preparedH6213[H8804] for themselves any victualH6720. |
[39]And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they brought forth out of Egypt, for it was not leavened; because they were thrust out of Egypt, and could not tarry, neither had they prepared for themselves any victual. |
| [40]Now the sojourningH4186 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, who dweltH3427[H8804] in EgyptH4714, was fourH702 hundredH3967[H8141] and thirtyH7970 yearsH8141. |
[40]Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years. |
| [41]And it came to pass at the endH7093 of the fourH702 hundredH3967[H8141] and thirtyH7970 yearsH8141, even the selfsameH6106 dayH3117 it came to pass, that all the hostsH6635 of the LORDH3068 went outH3318[H8804] from the landH776 of EgyptH4714. |
[41]And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt. |
| [42]It is a nightH3915 to be much observedH8107 unto the LORDH3068 for bringingH3318[H8687] them out from the landH776 of EgyptH4714: this is that nightH3915 of the LORDH3068 to be observedH8107 of all the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 in their generationsH1755. |
[42]It is a night to be much observed unto the LORD for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night of the LORD to be observed of all the children of Israel in their generations. |
| [43]And the LORDH3068 saidH559[H8799] unto MosesH4872 and AaronH175, This is the ordinanceH2708 of the passoverH6453: There shall no strangerH5236 eatH398 thereofH8799: |
[43]And the LORD said unto Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the passover: There shall no stranger eat thereof: |
| [44]But every man'sH376 servantH5650 that is boughtH4736 for moneyH3701, when thou hast circumcisedH4135[H8804] him, then shall he eatH398 thereofH8799. |
[44]But every man's servant that is bought for money, when thou hast circumcised him, then shall he eat thereof. |
| [45]A foreignerH8453 and an hired servantH7916 shall not eatH398 thereofH8799. |
[45]A foreigner and an hired servant shall not eat thereof. |
| [46]In oneH259 houseH1004 shall it be eatenH398[H8735]; thou shalt not carry forthH3318[H8686] ought of the fleshH1320 abroadH2351 out of the houseH1004; neither shall ye breakH7665[H8799] a bone thereofH6106. |
[46]In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth ought of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof. |
| [47]All the congregationH5712 of IsraelH3478 shall keepH6213 itH8799. |
[47]All the congregation of Israel shall keep it. |
| [48]And when a strangerH1616 shall sojournH1481[H8799] with thee, and will keepH6213[H8804] the passoverH6453 to the LORDH3068, let all his malesH2145 be circumcisedH4135[H8736], and then let him come nearH7126[H8799] and keepH6213[H8800] it; and he shall be as one that is bornH249 in the landH776: for no uncircumcised personH6189 shall eatH398 thereofH8799. |
[48]And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the LORD, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof. |
| [49]OneH259 lawH8451 shall be to him that is homebornH249, and unto the strangerH1616 that sojournethH1481[H8802] among youH8432. |
[49]One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you. |
| [50]Thus didH6213[H8799] all the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478; as the LORDH3068 commandedH6680[H8765] MosesH4872 and AaronH175, so didH6213 theyH8804. |
[50]Thus did all the children of Israel; as the LORD commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they. |
| [51]And it came to pass the selfsameH6106 dayH3117, that the LORDH3068 did bringH3318[H8689] the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714 by their armiesH6635. |
[51]And it came to pass the selfsame day, that the LORD did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies. |
