[1]And 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 said unto Moses: 'See, I have set thee in God's stead to Pharaoh; and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. |
[1]Then the Lord said to Moses, Behold, I have made thee Pharaoh's God, and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. |
[2]Thou shalt speak all that I command thee; and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land. |
[2]Thou shalt speak all that I commanded thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he suffer the children of Israel to go out of his land. |
[3]And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt. |
[3]But I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my miracles and my wonders in the land of Egypt. |
[4]But Pharaoh will not hearken unto you, and I will lay My hand upon Egypt, and bring forth My hosts, My people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt, by great judgments. |
[4]And Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out mine armies, even my people, the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt, by great judgments. |
[5]And the Egyptians shall know that I am 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, when I stretch forth My hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.' |
[5]Then the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them. |
[6]And Moses and Aaron did so; as 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 commanded them, so did they. |
[6]So Moses and Aaron did as the Lord commanded them, even so did they. |
[7]And Moses w fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spoke unto Pharaoh. |
[7](Now Moses was fourscore year old, and Aaron fourscore and three, when they spake unto Pharaoh) |
[8]And 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying: |
[8]And the Lord had spoken unto Moses and Aaron, saying, |
[9]'When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying: Show a wonder for you; then thou shalt say unto Aaron: Take thy rod, and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it become a serpent.' |
[9]If Pharaoh speak unto you, saying, Show a miracle for you, then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh , and it shall be turned into a serpent. |
[10]And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so, as 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 had commanded; and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent. |
[10]Then went Moses and Aaron unto Pharaoh, and did even as the Lord had commanded: and Aaron cast forth his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it was turned into a serpent. |
[11]Then Pharaoh also called for the wise men and the sorcerers; and they also, the magicians of Egypt, did in like manner with their secret arts. |
[11]Then Pharaoh called also for the wise men and sorcerers: and those charmers also of Egypt did in like manner with their enchantments, |
[12]For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents; but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods. |
[12]For they cast down every man his rod, and they were turned into serpents: but Aaron's rod devoured their rods. |
[13]And Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 had spoken. |
[13]So Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he hearkened not to them, as the Lord had said. |
[14]And 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 said unto Moses: 'Pharaoh's heart is stubborn, he refuseth to let the people go. |
[14]The Lord then said unto Moses, Pharaoh's heart is obstinate, he refuseth to let the people go. |
[15]Get thee unto Pharaoh in t morning; lo, he goeth out unto the water; and thou shalt stand by the river's brink to meet him; and the rod which was turned to a serpent shalt thou take in thy hand. |
[15]Go unto Pharaoh in the morning, (lo, he will come unto the water) and thou shalt stand and meet him by the river's brink, and the rod, which was turned into a serpent, shalt thou take in thine hand. |
[16]And thou shalt say unto him: 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, the God of the Hebrews, hath sent me unto thee, saying: Let My people go, that they may serve Me in the wilderness; and, behold, hitherto thou hast not hearkened; |
[16]And thou shalt say unto him, The Lord God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: and behold, hitherto thou wouldest not hear. |
[17]Thus saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇: In this thou shalt know that I am 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇—behold, I will smite with the rod that is in my hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood. |
[17]Thus saith the Lord, In this shalt thou know that I am the Lord: behold, I will smite with the rod that is in mine hand upon the water that is in the river, and it shall be turned to blood. |
[18]And the fish that are in the river shall die, and the river shall become foul; and the Egyptians shall loathe to drink water from the river.' |
[18]And the fish that is in the river shall die, and the river shall stink, and it shall grieve the Egyptians to drink of the water of the river. |
[19]And 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 said unto Moses: 'Say unto Aaron: Take thy rod, and stretch out thy hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, over their streams, and over their pools, and over all their ponds of water, that they may become blood; and there shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.' |
[19]The Lord then spake to Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the waters of Egypt, over their streams, over their rivers, and over their ponds, and over all pools of their waters, and they shall be blood, and there shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and of stone. |
[20]And Moses and Aaron did so, as 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood. |
[20]So Moses and Aaron did even as the Lord commanded: and he lift up the rod, and smote the water that was in the river in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants: and all the water that was in the river, was turned into blood. |
[21]And the fish that were in the river died; and the river became foul, and the Egyptians could not drink water from the river; and the blood was throughout all the land of Egypt. |
[21]And the fish that was in the river died, and the river stank: so that the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river: and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt. |
[22]And the magicians of Egypt did in like manner with their secret arts; and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 had spoken. |
[22]And the enchanters of Egypt did likewise with their sorceries: and the heart of Pharaoh was hardened: so that he did not hearken unto them, as the Lord had said. |
[23]And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, neither did he lay even this to heart. |
[23]Then Pharaoh returned, and went again into his house, neither did this yet enter into his heart. |
[24]And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river. |
[24]All the Egyptians then digged round about the river for waters to drink: for they could not drink of the water of the river. |
[25]And seven days were fulfilled, after that 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 had smitten the river. |
[25]And this continued fully seven days after the Lord had smitten the river. |
[26]And 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 spoke unto Moses: 'Go in unto Pharaoh, and say unto him: Thus saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇: Let My people go, that they may serve Me. |
26[No verse] |
[27]And if thou refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all thy borders with frogs. |
27[No verse] |
[28]And the river shall swarm with frogs, which shall go up and come into thy house, and into thy bed-chamber, and upon thy bed, and into the house of thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thine ovens, and into thy kneading-troughs. |
28[No verse] |
[29]And the frogs shall come up both upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon all thy servants.' |
