The King James Version (w/Strong's)
KJV+
Young's Literal Translation
YLT
[1]Behold my servantH5650, whom I upholdH8551[H8799]; mine electH972, in whom my soulH5315 delightethH7521[H8804]; I have putH5414[H8804] my spiritH7307 upon him: he shall bring forthH3318[H8686] judgmentH4941 to the GentilesH1471. [1]Lo, My servant, I take hold on him, My chosen one -- My soul hath accepted, I have put My Spirit upon him, Judgment to nations he bringeth forth.
[2]He shall not cryH6817[H8799], nor lift upH5375[H8799], nor cause his voiceH6963 to be heardH8085[H8686] in the streetH2351. [2]He doth not cry, nor lift up, Nor cause his voice to be heard, in the street.
[3]A bruisedH7533[H8803] reedH7070 shall he not breakH7665[H8799], and the smokingH3544 flaxH6594 shall he not quenchH3518[H8762]: he shall bring forthH3318[H8686] judgmentH4941 unto truthH571. [3]A bruised reed he breaketh not, And dim flax he quencheth not, To truth he bringeth forth judgment.
[4]He shall not failH3543[H8799] nor be discouragedH7533[H8799], till he have setH7760[H8799] judgmentH4941 in the earthH776: and the islesH339 shall waitH3176[H8762] for his lawH8451. [4]He doth not become weak nor bruised, Till he setteth judgment in the earth, And for his law isles wait with hope.
[5]Thus saithH559[H8804] GodH410 the LORDH3068, he that createdH1254[H8802] the heavensH8064, and stretched them outH5186[H8802]; he that spread forthH7554[H8802] the earthH776, and that which cometh outH6631 of it; he that givethH5414[H8802] breathH5397 unto the peopleH5971 upon it, and spiritH7307 to them that walkH1980 thereinH8802: [5]Thus said God, Jehovah, preparing The heavens, and stretching them out, Spreading out the earth and its productions, Giving breath to the people on it, And spirit to those walking in it.
[6]I the LORDH3068 have calledH7121[H8804] thee in righteousnessH6664, and will holdH2388[H8686] thine handH3027, and will keepH5341[H8799] thee, and giveH5414[H8799] thee for a covenantH1285 of the peopleH5971, for a lightH216 of the GentilesH1471; [6]I, Jehovah, did call thee in righteousness, And I lay hold on thy hand, and keep thee, And I give thee for a covenant of a people, And a light of nations.
[7]To openH6491[H8800] the blindH5787 eyesH5869, to bring outH3318[H8687] the prisonersH616 from the prisonH4525, and them that sitH3427[H8802] in darknessH2822 out of the prisonH3608 houseH1004. [7]To open the eyes of the blind, To bring forth from prison the bound one, From the house of restraint those sitting in darkness.
[8]I am the LORDH3068: that is my nameH8034: and my gloryH3519 will I not giveH5414[H8799] to anotherH312, neither my praiseH8416 to graven imagesH6456. [8]I [am] Jehovah, this [is] My name, And Mine honour to another I give not, Nor My praise to graven images.
[9]Behold, the former thingsH7223 are come to passH935[H8804], and new thingsH2319 do I declareH5046[H8688]: before they spring forthH6779[H8799] I tellH8085 you of themH8686. [9]The former things, lo, have come, And new things I am declaring, Before they spring up I cause you to hear.
[10]SingH7891[H8798] unto the LORDH3068 a newH2319 songH7892, and his praiseH8416 from the endH7097 of the earthH776, ye that go downH3381[H8802] to the seaH3220, and all that is thereinH4393; the islesH339, and the inhabitantsH3427 thereofH8802. [10]Sing to Jehovah a new song, His praise from the end of the earth, Ye who are going down to the sea, and its fulness, Isles, and their inhabitants.
[11]Let the wildernessH4057 and the citiesH5892 thereof lift upH5375[H8799] their voice, the villagesH2691 that KedarH6938 doth inhabitH3427[H8799]: let the inhabitantsH3427[H8802] of the rockH5553 singH7442[H8799], let them shoutH6681[H8799] from the topH7218 of the mountainsH2022. [11]The wilderness and its cities do lift up [the voice], The villages Kedar doth inhabit, Sing do the inhabitants of Sela, From the top of mountains they cry.
[12]Let them giveH7760[H8799] gloryH3519 unto the LORDH3068, and declareH5046[H8686] his praiseH8416 in the islandsH339. [12]They ascribe to Jehovah honour, And His praise in the isles they declare.
[13]The LORDH3068 shall go forthH3318[H8799] as a mighty manH1368, he shall stir upH5782[H8686] jealousyH7068 like a manH376 of warH4421: he shall cryH7321[H8686], yea, roarH6873[H8686]; he shall prevailH1396[H8691] against his enemiesH341.[H8802] [13]Jehovah as a mighty one goeth forth. As a man of war He stirreth up zeal, He crieth, yea, He shrieketh, Against His enemies He showeth Himself mighty.
[14]I have long timeH5769 holden my peaceH2814[H8689]; I have been stillH2790[H8686], and refrainedH662[H8691] myself: now will I cryH6463[H8799] like a travailing womanH3205[H8802]; I will destroyH5395[H8799][H8676][H8074][H8799] and devourH7602[H8799] at onceH3162. [14]I have kept silent from of old, I keep silent, I refrain myself, As a travailing woman I cry out, I desolate and swallow up together.
[15]I will make wasteH2717[H8686] mountainsH2022 and hillsH1389, and dry upH3001[H8686] all their herbsH6212; and I will makeH7760[H8804] the riversH5104 islandsH339, and I will dry upH3001[H8686] the poolsH98. [15]I make waste mountains and hills, And all their herbs I dry up, And I have made rivers become isles, And ponds I dry up.
[16]And I will bringH3212[H8689] the blindH5787 by a wayH1870 that they knewH3045[H8804] not; I will leadH1869[H8686] them in pathsH5410 that they have not knownH3045[H8804]: I will makeH7760[H8799] darknessH4285 lightH216 beforeH6440 them, and crooked thingsH4625 straightH4334. These thingsH1697 will I doH6213[H8804] unto them, and not forsakeH5800 themH8804. [16]And I have caused the blind to go, In a way they have not known, In paths they have not known I cause them to tread, I make a dark place before them become light, And unlevelled places become a plain, These [are] the things I have done to them, And I have not forsaken them.
[17]They shall be turnedH5472[H8738] backH268, they shall be greatlyH1322 ashamedH954[H8799], that trustH982[H8802] in graven imagesH6459, that sayH559[H8802] to the molten imagesH4541, Ye are our godsH430. [17]Removed backward -- utterly ashamed, Are those trusting in a graven image, Those saying to a molten image, `Ye [are] our gods.'
[18]HearH8085[H8798], ye deafH2795; and lookH5027[H8685], ye blindH5787, that ye may seeH7200.[H8800] [18]Ye deaf, hear; and ye blind, look to see.
[19]Who is blindH5787, but my servantH5650? or deafH2795, as my messengerH4397 that I sentH7971[H8799]? who is blindH5787 as he that is perfectH7999[H8794], and blindH5787 as the LORD'SH3068 servantH5650? [19]Who [is] blind but My servant? And deaf as My messenger I send? Who [is] blind as he who is at peace, Yea, blind, as the servant of Jehovah?
[20]SeeingH7200[H8800][H8675][H7200][H8804] many thingsH7227, but thou observestH8104[H8799] not; openingH6491[H8800] the earsH241, but he hearethH8085 notH8799. [20]Seeing many things, and thou observest not, Opening ears, and he heareth not.
[21]The LORDH3068 is well pleasedH2654[H8804] for his righteousness'H6664 sake; he will magnifyH1431[H8686] the lawH8451, and make it honourableH142.[H8686] [21]Jehovah hath delight for the sake of His righteousness, He magnifieth law, and maketh honourable.
[22]But this is a peopleH5971 robbedH962[H8803] and spoiledH8154[H8803]; they are all of them snaredH6351[H8687] in holesH2352[H8676][H970], and they are hidH2244[H8717] in prisonH3608 housesH1004: they are for a preyH957, and none deliverethH5337[H8688]; for a spoilH4933, and none saithH559[H8802], RestoreH7725.[H8685] [22]And this [is] a people seized and spoiled, Snared in holes -- all of them, And in houses of restraint they were hidden, They have been for a prey, And there is no deliverer, A spoil, and none is saying, `Restore.'
[23]Who among you will give earH238[H8686] to this? who will hearkenH7181[H8686] and hearH8085[H8799] for the time to comeH268? [23]Who among you giveth ear [to] this? Attendeth, and heareth afterwards.
[24]Who gaveH5414[H8804] JacobH3290 for a spoilH4933[H8675][H4882], and IsraelH3478 to the robbersH962[H8802]? did not the LORDH3068, he against whomH2098 we have sinnedH2398[H8804]? for they wouldH14[H8804] not walkH1980[H8800] in his waysH1870, neither were they obedientH8085[H8804] unto his lawH8451. [24]Who hath given Jacob for a spoil, And Israel to the spoilers? Is it not Jehovah -- He against whom we sinned? Yea, they have not been willing in His ways to walk, Nor have they hearkened to His law.
[25]Therefore he hath pouredH8210[H8799] upon him the furyH2534 of his angerH639, and the strengthH5807 of battleH4421: and it hath set him on fireH3857[H8762] round aboutH5439, yet he knewH3045[H8804] not; and it burnedH1197[H8799] him, yet he laidH7760[H8799] it not to heartH3820. [25]And He poureth on him fury, His anger, and the strength of battle, And it setteth him on fire round about, And he hath not known, And it burneth against him, and he layeth it not to heart!
