[1]And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years. |
| [2]καίC ἰσχύωVAI-AAI3S χείρN3-NSF *μαδιαμN--GSF ἐπίP *ἰσραήλN--ASM καίC ποιέωVAI-AAI3P ἑαυτοῦRD-DPM ὁRA-NPM υἱόςN2-NPM *ἰσραήλN--GSM ἀπόP πρόσωπονN2N-GSN *μαδιαμN--GSF ὁRA-APF τρυμαλιάN1A-APF ὁRA-APF ἐνP ὁRA-DPN ὄροςN3E-DPN καίC ὁRA-APN σπήλαιονN2N-APN καίC ὁRA-APN κρεμαστόςA1-APN |
[2]And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds. |
| [3]καίC γίγνομαιVBI-AMI3S ἐάνC σπείρωVAI-AAI3P ὁRA-NPM υἱόςN2-NPM *ἰσραήλN--GSM καίC ἀναβαίνωVAI-AAI3P *μαδιαμN--NSF καίC *αμαληκN--NSM καίC ὁRA-NPM υἱόςN2-NPM ἀνατολήN1-GPF συν ἀναβαίνωV1I-IAI3P αὐτόςRD-DPM |
[3]And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them; |
| [4]καίC παρα ἐνβάλλωVBI-AAI3P εἰςP αὐτόςRD-APM καίC καταφθείρωVAI-AAI3P ὁRA-APM καρπόςN2-APM αὐτόςRD-GPM ἕωςP ἔρχομαιVB-AAN εἰςP *γάζαN1A-ASF καίC οὐD καταλείπωVBI-AAI3P ὑπόστασιςN3I-ASF ζωήN1-GSF ἐνP ὁRA-DSF γῆN1-DSF *ἰσραήλN--GSM οὐδέC ἐνP ὁRA-DPN ποίμνιονN2N-DPN ταῦροςN2-ASM καίC ὄνοςN2-ASM |
[4]And they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass. |
| [5]ὅτιC αὐτόςRD-NPM καίC ὁRA-NPF κτῆσιςN3I-NPF αὐτόςRD-GPM ἀναβαίνωV1I-IAI3P καίC ὁRA-NPF σκηνήN1-NPF αὐτόςRD-GPM παραγίγνομαιV1I-IMI3P καθώςD ἀκρίςN3D-NSF εἰςP πλῆθοςN3E-ASN καίC αὐτόςRD-DPM καίC ὁRA-DPM κάμηλοςN2-DPM αὐτόςRD-GPM οὐD εἰμίV9-IAI3S ἀριθμόςN2-NSM καίC ἄρχωV1I-IMI3P εἰςP ὁRA-ASF γῆN1-ASF *ἰσραήλN--GSM καίC διαφθείρωV1I-IAI3P αὐτόςRD-ASF |
[5]For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it. |

[6]And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the LORD. |

[7]And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD because of the Midianites, |
| [8]καίC ἐκ ἀποστέλλωVAI-AAI3S κύριοςN2-NSM ἀνήρN3-ASM προφήτηςN1M-ASM πρόςP ὁRA-APM υἱόςN2-APM *ἰσραήλN--GSM καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-DPM ὅδεRD-APN λέγωV1-PAI3S κύριοςN2-NSM ὁRA-NSM θεόςN2-NSM *ἰσραήλN--GSM ἐγώRP-NS εἰμίV9-PAI1S ὅςRR-NSM ἀναἄγωVBI-AAI1S σύRP-AP ἐκP γῆN1-GSF *αἴγυπτοςN2-GSF καίC ἐκἄγωVBI-AAI1S σύRP-AP ἐκP οἶκοςN2-GSM δουλείαN1A-GSF σύRP-GP |
[8]That the LORD sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage; |

[9]And I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drave them out from before you, and gave you their land; |
| [10]καίC εἶπονVAI-AAI1S σύRP-DP ἐγώRP-NS κύριοςN2-NSM ὁRA-NSM θεόςN2-NSM σύRP-GP οὐD φοβέωVC-FPI2P ὁRA-APM θεόςN2-APM ὁRA-GSM *ἀμορραῖοςN2-GSM ἐνP ὅςRR-DPM σύRP-NP καταἵημιVF-FMI2P ἐνP ὁRA-DSF γῆN1-DSF αὐτόςRD-GPM καίC οὐD εἰςἀκούωVAI-AAI2P ὁRA-GSF φωνήN1-GSF ἐγώRP-GS |
[10]And I said unto you, I am the LORD your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not obeyed my voice. |
| [11]καίC ἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3S ἄγγελοςN2-NSM κύριοςN2-GSM καίC καταἵζωVAI-AAI3S ὑπόP ὁRA-ASF τερεμίνθοςN2-ASF ὁRA-ASF ἐνP *εφραθαN--DS ὁRA-ASF *ιωαςN--GSM πατήρN3-GSM ὁRA-GSM *εσδριN--GSM καίC *γεδεωνN--NSM υἱόςN2-NSM αὐτόςRD-GSM ῥαβδίζωV1-PAPNSM σῖτοςN2-ASM ἐνP ληνόςN2-DSF εἰςP ἐκφεύγωVB-AAN ἀπόP πρόσωπονN2N-GSN ὁRA-GSM *μαδιαμN--GSF |
[11]And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abiezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites. |
| [12]καίC ὁράωVVI-API3S αὐτόςRD-DSM ὁRA-NSM ἄγγελοςN2-NSM κύριοςN2-GSM καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S πρόςP αὐτόςRD-ASM κύριοςN2-NSM μετάP σύRP-GS ἰσχυρόςA1A-NSM ὁRA-GPF δύναμιςN3I-GPF |
[12]And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour. |
| [13]καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S πρόςP αὐτόςRD-ASM *γεδεωνN--NSM ἐνP ἐγώRP-DS κύριοςN2-VSM ἐγώRP-GS καίC εἰX εἰμίV9-PAI3S κύριοςN2-NSM μετάP ἐγώRP-GP εἰςP τίςRI-ASN εὑρίσκωVB-AAI3S ἐγώRP-AP ὁRA-NPN κακόςA1-NPN οὗτοςRD-NPN καίC ποῦD εἰμίV9-PAI3S πᾶςA3-NPN ὁRA-NPN θαυμάσιοςA1A-NPN αὐτόςRD-GSM ὅςRR-APN διαἡγέομαιVAI-AMI3P ἐγώRP-DP ὁRA-NPM πατήρN3-NPM ἐγώRP-GP λέγωV1-PAPNPM μήD οὐD ἐκP *αἴγυπτοςN2-GSF ἀναἄγωVBI-AAI3S ἐγώRP-AP κύριοςN2-NSM καίC νῦνD ἐκῥίπτωVAI-AAI3S ἐγώRP-AP καίC δίδωμιVAI-AAI3S ἐγώRP-AP ἐνP χείρN3-DSF *μαδιαμN--GSF |
[13]And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites. |
| [14]καίC ἐπιστρέφωVAI-AAI3S πρόςP αὐτόςRD-ASM ὁRA-NSM ἄγγελοςN2-NSM κύριοςN2-GSM καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S πορεύομαιV1-PMD2S ἐνP ἰσχύςN3U-DSF σύRP-GS οὗτοςRD-DSF καίC σώζωVF-FAI2S ὁRA-ASM *ἰσραήλN--ASM ἐκP χείρN3-GSF *μαδιαμN--GSF ἰδούI ἐκ ἀποστέλλωVAI-AAI1S σύRP-AS |
[14]And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee? |
| [15]καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S πρόςP αὐτόςRD-ASM *γεδεωνN--NSM ἐνP ἐγώRP-DS κύριοςN2-VSM ἐγώRP-GS ἐνP τίςRI-DSN σώζωVF-FAI1S ὁRA-ASM *ἰσραήλN--ASM ἰδούI ὁRA-NSF χιλιάςN3D-NSF ἐγώRP-GS ἀσθενέωVAI-AAI3S ἐνP *μανασσήN--DSM καίC ἐγώRP-NS εἰμίV9-PAI1S ὁRA-NSM μικρόςA1A-NSMC ἐνP οἶκοςN2-DSM πατήρN3-GSM ἐγώRP-GS |
[15]And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house. |
| [16]καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S πρόςP αὐτόςRD-ASM ὁRA-NSM ἄγγελοςN2-NSM κύριοςN2-GSM κύριοςN2-NSM εἰμίVF-FMI3S μετάP σύRP-GS καίC πατάσσωVF-FAI2S ὁRA-ASF *μαδιαμN--ASF ὡσείD ἀνήρN3-ASM εἷςA3-ASM |
[16]And the LORD said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man. |
| [17]καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S πρόςP αὐτόςRD-ASM *γεδεωνN--NSM εἰX δέX εὑρίσκωVB-AAI1S ἔλεοςN3E-NSN ἐνP ὀφθαλμόςN2-DPM σύRP-GS καίC ποιέωVF-FAI2S ἐγώRP-DS σήμερονD πᾶςA3-ASN ὅςRR-ASN τιςRI-ASN λαλέωVAI-AAI2S μετάP ἐγώRP-GS |
[17]And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me. |
| [18]μήD χωρίζωVS-APS2S ἐντεῦθενD ἕωςP ὁRA-GSN ἔρχομαιVB-AAN ἐγώRP-AS πρόςP σύRP-AS καίC ἐκφέρωVF-FAI1S ὁRA-ASF θυσίαN1A-ASF καίC τίθημιVF-FAI1S ἐνώπιονP σύRP-GS καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S ἐγώRP-NS εἰμίV9-PAI1S καθίομαιV1-PMI1S ἕωςP ὁRA-GSN ἐπιστρέφωVA-AAN σύRP-AS |
[18]Depart not hence, I pray thee, until I come unto thee, and bring forth my present, and set it before thee. And he said, I will tarry until thou come again. |
| [19]καίC *γεδεωνN--NSM εἰςἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3S καίC ποιέωVAI-AAI3S ἔριφοςN2-ASM αἴξN3G-GPM καίC οιφιN--ASN ἄλευρονN2N-GSN ἄζυμοςA1B-APN καίC ὁRA-APN κρέαςN3-APN τίθημιVAI-AAI3S ἐνP ὁRA-DSM κόφινοςN2-DSM καίC ὁRA-ASM ζωμόςN2-ASM βάλλωVBI-AAI3S ἐνP ὁRA-DSF χύτραN1A-DSF καίC ἐκφέρωVAI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-APN πρόςP αὐτόςRD-ASM ὑπόP ὁRA-ASF τερεμίνθοςN2-ASF καίC προςἐγγίζωVAI-AAI3S |
[19]And Gideon went in, and made ready a kid, and unleavened cakes of an ephah of flour: the flesh he put in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot, and brought it out unto him under the oak, and presented it. |
| [20]καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S πρόςP αὐτόςRD-ASM ὁRA-NSM ἄγγελοςN2-NSM ὁRA-GSM θεόςN2-GSM λαμβάνωVB-AAD2S ὁRA-APN κρέαςN3-APN καίC ὁRA-APN ἄζυμοςA1B-APN καίC τίθημιVE-AAD2S πρόςP ὁRA-ASF πέτραN1A-ASF ἐκεῖνοςRD-ASF καίC ὁRA-ASM ζωμόςN2-ASM ἔχωV1-PMPAPN ἐκχέωV2-PAD2S καίC ποιέωVAI-AAI3S οὕτωςD |
[20]And the angel of God said unto him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and lay them upon this rock, and pour out the broth. And he did so. |
| [21]καίC ἐκτείνωVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-NSM ἄγγελοςN2-NSM κύριοςN2-GSM ὁRA-ASN ἄκροςA1A-ASN ὁRA-GSF ῥάβδοςN2-GSF ὁRA-GSF ἐνP χείρN3-DSF αὐτόςRD-GSM καίC ἅπτομαιVAI-AMI3S ὁRA-GPN κρέαςN3-GPN καίC ὁRA-GPM ἄζυμοςA1B-GPM καίC ἀναβαίνωVZI-AAI3S πῦρN3-NSN ἐκP ὁRA-GSF πέτραN1A-GSF καίC καταἐσθίωVBI-AAI3S ὁRA-APN κρέαςN3-APN καίC ὁRA-APM ἄζυμοςA1B-APM καίC ὁRA-NSM ἄγγελοςN2-NSM κύριοςN2-GSM πορεύομαιVCI-API3S ἀπόP ὀφθαλμόςN2-GPM αὐτόςRD-GSM |
[21]Then the angel of the LORD put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the LORD departed out of his sight. |
| [22]καίC ὁράωVBI-AAI3S *γεδεωνN--NSM ὅτιC ἄγγελοςN2-NSM κύριοςN2-GSM οὗτοςRD-NSM εἰμίV9-PAI3S καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S *γεδεωνN--NSM ἆI ἆI κύριοςN2-VSM ἐγώRP-GS κύριοςN2-VSM ὅτιC ὁράωVBI-AAI1S ἄγγελοςN2-ASM κύριοςN2-GSM πρόσωπονN2N-ASN πρόςP πρόσωπονN2N-ASN |
[22]And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the LORD, Gideon said, Alas, O LORD God! for because I have seen an angel of the LORD face to face. |
| [23]καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-DSM κύριοςN2-NSM εἰρήνηN1-NSF σύRP-DS μήD φοβέωV2-PMD2S οὐD μήD ἀποθνήσκωVB-AAS2S |
[23]And the LORD said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die. |
| [24]καίC οἰκοδομέωVAI-AAI3S ἐκεῖD *γεδεωνN--NSM θυσιαστήριονN2N-ASN ὁRA-DSM κύριοςN2-DSM καίC ἐπικαλέωVAI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-DSM εἰρήνηN1-NSF κύριοςN2-GSM ἕωςP ὁRA-GSF ἡμέραN1A-GSF οὗτοςRD-GSF ἔτιD αὐτόςRD-GSM εἰμίV9-PAPGSM ἐνP *εφραθαN--DS πατήρN3-GSM ὁRA-GSM *εσδριN--GSM |
[24]Then Gideon built an altar there unto the LORD, and called it Jehovahshalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites. |
| [25]καίC γίγνομαιVBI-AMI3S ἐνP ὁRA-DSF νύξN3-DSF ἐκεῖνοςRD-DSF καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-DSM κύριοςN2-NSM λαμβάνωVB-AAD2S ὁRA-ASM μόσχοςN2-ASM ὁRA-ASM ταῦροςN2-ASM ὅςRR-NSM εἰμίV9-PAI3S ὁRA-DSM πατήρN3-DSM σύRP-GS καίC μόσχοςN2-ASM δεύτεροςA1A-ASM ἑπταετήςA3H-ASM καίC κατααἱρέωVF2-FAI2S ὁRA-ASN θυσιαστήριονN2N-ASN ὁRA-GSM *βααλN--GSM ὅςRR-ASN εἰμίV9-PAI3S ὁRA-DSM πατήρN3-DSM σύRP-GS καίC ὁRA-ASN ἄλσοςN3E-ASN ὁRA-ASN ἐπίP αὐτόςRD-ASN ὀλεθρεύωVF-FAI2S |
[25]And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Take thy father's young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it: |
| [26]καίC οἰκοδομέωVF-FAI2S θυσιαστήριονN2N-ASN κύριοςN2-DSM ὁRA-DSM θεόςN2-DSM σύRP-GS ἐπίP κορυφήN1-ASF ὁRA-GSM *μαουεκN--GSM οὗτοςRD-GSM ἐνP ὁRA-DSF παράταξιςN3I-DSF καίC λαμβάνωVF-FMI2S ὁRA-ASM μόσχοςN2-ASM ὁRA-ASM δεύτεροςA1A-ASM καίC ἀναφέρωVF-FAI2S ὁλοκαύτωμαN3M-ASN ἐνP ὁRA-DPN ξύλονN2N-DPN ὁRA-GSN ἄλσοςN3E-GSN ὅςRR-GSM ἐκὀλεθρεύωVF-FAI2S |
[26]And build an altar unto the LORD thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down. |
| [27]καίC λαμβάνωVBI-AAI3S *γεδεωνN--NSM δέκαM ἀνήρN3-APM ἀπόP ὁRA-GPM δοῦλοςN2-GPM ἑαυτοῦRD-GSM καίC ποιέωVAI-AAI3S ὅςRR-ASM τρόποςN2-ASM λαλέωVAI-AAI3S πρόςP αὐτόςRD-ASM κύριοςN2-NSM καίC γίγνομαιVCI-API3S ὡςC φοβέωVCI-API3S ὁRA-ASM οἶκοςN2-ASM ὁRA-GSM πατήρN3-GSM αὐτόςRD-GSM καίC ὁRA-APM ἀνήρN3-APM ὁRA-GSF πόλιςN3I-GSF ὁRA-GSN ποιέωVA-AAN ἡμέραN1A-GSF καίC ποιέωVAI-AAI3S νύξN3-GSF |
[27]Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the LORD had said unto him: and so it was, because he feared his father's household, and the men of the city, that he could not do it by day, that he did it by night. |
| [28]καίC ὀρθρίζωVAI-AAI3P ὁRA-NPM ἀνήρN3-NPM ὁRA-GSF πόλιςN3I-GSF ὁRA-ASN πρωΐD καίC ἰδούI κατααἱρέωV2I-IPI3S ὁRA-NSN θυσιαστήριονN2N-NSN ὁRA-GSM *βααλN--GSM καίC ὁRA-NSN ἄλσοςN3E-NSN ὁRA-NSN ἐπίP αὐτόςRD-DSM ὀλεθρεύωV1I-IPI3S καίC ὁράωVAI-AAI3P ὁRA-ASM μόσχοςN2-ASM ὁRA-ASM δεύτεροςA1A-ASM ὅςRR-ASM ἀναφέρωVAI-AAI3S ἐπίP ὁRA-ASN θυσιαστήριονN2N-ASN ὁRA-ASN οἰκοδομέωVM-XPPASN |
[28]And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was cast down, and the grove was cut down that was by it, and the second bullock was offered upon the altar that was built. |
| [29]καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S ἀνήρN3-NSM πρόςP ὁRA-ASM πλησίονD αὐτόςRD-GSM τίςRI-NSM ποιέωVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-ASN ῥῆμαN3M-ASN οὗτοςRD-ASN καίC ἐπιζητέωVAI-AAI3P καίC ἐρευνάωVAI-AAI3P καίC γιγνώσκωVZI-AAI3P ὅτιC *γεδεωνN--NSM υἱόςN2-NSM *ιωαςN--GSM ποιέωVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-ASN ῥῆμαN3M-ASN οὗτοςRD-ASN |
[29]And they said one to another, Who hath done this thing? And when they enquired and asked, they said, Gideon the son of Joash hath done this thing. |
| [30]καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3P ὁRA-NPM ἀνήρN3-NPM ὁRA-GSF πόλιςN3I-GSF πρόςP *ιωαςN--ASM ἐκφέρωVAI-AAD2S ὁRA-ASM υἱόςN2-ASM σύRP-GS καίC ἀποθνήσκωVB-AAD3S ὅτιC κατααἱρέωVBI-AAI3S ὁRA-ASN θυσιαστήριονN2N-ASN ὁRA-GSM *βααλN--GSM καίC ὅτιC ὀλεθρεύωVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-ASN ἄλσοςN3E-ASN ὁRA-ASN ἐπίP αὐτόςRD-DSM |
[30]Then the men of the city said unto Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die: because he hath cast down the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the grove that was by it. |

[31]And Joash said unto all that stood against him, Will ye plead for Baal? will ye save him? he that will plead for him, let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning: if he be a god, let him plead for himself, because one hath cast down his altar. |

[32]Therefore on that day he called him Jerubbaal, saying, Let Baal plead against him, because he hath thrown down his altar. |

[33]Then all the Midianites and the Amalekites and the children of the east were gathered together, and went over, and pitched in the valley of Jezreel. |

[34]But the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon, and he blew a trumpet; and Abiezer was gathered after him. |

[35]And he sent messengers throughout all Manasseh; who also was gathered after him: and he sent messengers unto Asher, and unto Zebulun, and unto Naphtali; and they came up to meet them. |

[36]And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said, |

[37]Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said. |
| [38]καίC γίγνομαιVBI-AMI3S οὕτωςD καίC ὀρθρίζωVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-DSF ἐπαύριονD καίC ἐκ ἐπιἰάομαιVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-ASM πόκοςN2-ASM καίC στάζωVAI-AAI3S δρόσοςN2-NSF ἀπόP ὁRA-GSM πόκοςN2-GSM πλήρηςA3H-NSF λεκάνηN1-NSF ὕδωρN3T-GSN |
[38]And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the fleece together, and wringed the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water. |

[39]And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew. |

[40]And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground. |
