[1]Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose up early, and pitched beside the well of Harod: so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley. |

[2]And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me. |

[3]Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand. |

[4]And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go. |

[5]So he brought down the people unto the water: and the LORD said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink. |

[6]And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water. |

[7]And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place. |

[8]So the people took victuals in their hand, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley. |
| [9]καίC γίγνομαιVCI-API3S ἐνP ὁRA-DSF νύξN3-DSF ἐκεῖνοςRD-DSF καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S πρόςP αὐτόςRD-ASM κύριοςN2-NSM ἀναἵστημιVH-AAPNSM καταβαίνωVZ-AAD2S ἐνP ὁRA-DSF παρεμβολήN1-DSF ὅτιC παραδίδωμιVAI-AAI1S αὐτόςRD-ASF ἐνP ὁRA-DSF χείρN3-DSF σύRP-GS |
[9]And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand. |
| [10]καίC εἰX φοβέωV2-PAS3S σύRP-NS καταβαίνωVZ-AAN καταβαίνωVZ-AAD2S σύRP-NS καίC *φαραN--NSM ὁRA-NSN παιδάριονN2N-NSN σύRP-GS εἰςP ὁRA-ASF παρεμβολήN1-ASF |
[10]But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host: |
| [11]καίC ἀκούωVA-AAS3S τίςRI-ASN λαλέωVF-FAI3P καίC μετάP οὗτοςRD-ASN ἰσχύωVF-FAI3P ὁRA-NPF χείρN3-NPF σύRP-GS καίC καταβαίνωVF-FMI2S ἐνP ὁRA-DSF παρεμβολήN1-DSF καίC καταβαίνωVZI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-NSM καίC *φαραN--NSM ὁRA-NSN παιδάριονN2N-NSN αὐτόςRD-GSM πρόςP ἀρχήN1-ASF ὁRA-GPM πεντήκονταM ὅςRR-NPM εἰμίV9-IAI3P ἐνP ὁRA-DSF παρεμβολήN1-DSF |
[11]And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host. |
| [12]καίC *μαδιαμN--NSF καίC *αμαληκN--NSM καίC πᾶςA3-NPM υἱόςN2-NPM ἀνατολήN1-GPF βάλλωVM-XMPNPM ἐνP ὁRA-DSF κοιλάςN3D-DSF ὡσείD ἀκρίςN3D-NSF εἰςP πλῆθοςN3E-ASN καίC ὁRA-DPF κάμηλοςN2-DPF αὐτόςRD-GPM οὐD εἰμίV9-IAI3S ἀριθμόςN2-NSM ἀλλάC εἰμίV9-IAI3P ὡςC ὁRA-NSF ἄμμοςN2-NSF ὁRA-NSF ἐπίP χεῖλοςN3E-GSN ὁRA-GSF θάλασσαN1S-GSF εἰςP πλῆθοςN3E-ASN |
[12]And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude. |
| [13]καίC ἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3S *γεδεωνN--NSM καίC ἰδούI ἀνήρN3-NSM ἐκἡγέομαιV2-PMPNSM ὁRA-DSM πλησίονD αὐτόςRD-GSM ἐνύπνιονN2N-ASN καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S ἐνύπνιονN2N-ASN ἰδούI ἐνυπνιάζωVAI-AMI1S καίC ἰδούI μαγίςN3D-NSF ἄρτοςN2-GSM κρίθινοςA1-GSM στρέφωV1-PMPNSF ἐνP ὁRA-DSF παρεμβολήN1-DSF *μαδιαμN--GSF καίC ἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3S ἕωςP ὁRA-GSF σκηνήN1-GSF καίC πατάσσωVAI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-ASF καίC πίπτωVAI-AAI3S καίC ἀναστρέφωVAI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-ASF ἄνωD καίC πίπτωVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-NSF σκηνήN1-NSF |
[13]And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along. |
| [14]καίC ἀποκρίνωVCI-API3S ὁRA-NSM πλησίονD αὐτόςRD-GSM καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S οὐD εἰμίV9-PAI3S οὗτοςRD-NSF εἰX μήD ῥομφαίαN1A-NSF *γεδεωνN--GSM υἱόςN2-GSM *ιωαςN--GSM ἀνήρN3-GSM *ἰσραήλN--GSM παραδίδωμιVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-NSM θεόςN2-NSM ἐνP χείρN3-DSF αὐτόςRD-GSM ὁRA-ASF *μαδιαμN--ASF καίC πᾶςA1S-ASF ὁRA-ASF παρεμβολήN1-ASF |
[14]And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host. |
| [15]καίC γίγνομαιVBI-AMI3S ὡςC ἀκούωVAI-AAI3S *γεδεωνN--NSM ὁRA-ASF ἐξήγησιςN3I-ASF ὁRA-GSN ἐνύπνιονN2N-GSN καίC ὁRA-ASF σύγκρισιςN3I-ASF αὐτόςRD-GSM καίC προςκυνέωVAI-AAI3S κύριοςN2-DSM καίC ὑποστρέφωVAI-AAI3S εἰςP ὁRA-ASF παρεμβολήN1-ASF *ἰσραήλN--GSM καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S ἀναἵστημιVH-AAD2P ὅτιC παραδίδωμιVAI-AAI3S κύριοςN2-NSM ἐνP χείρN3-DSF ἐγώRP-GP ὁRA-ASF παρεμβολήN1-ASF *μαδιαμN--GSF |
[15]And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian. |
| [16]καίC διααἱρέωVBI-AAI3S ὁRA-APM τριακόσιοιA1A-APM ἀνήρN3-APM εἰςP τρεῖςA3-APF ἀρχήN1-APF καίC δίδωμιVAI-AAI3S κερατίνηN1-APF ἐνP χείρN3-DSF πᾶςA3-GPM καίC ὑδρίαN1A-APF κενόςA1-APF καίC λαμπάςN3D-APF ἐνP ὁRA-DPF ὑδρίαN1A-DPF |
[16]And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man's hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers. |
| [17]καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S πρόςP αὐτόςRD-APM ἀπόP ἐγώRP-GS ὁράωVF-FMI2P καίC οὕτωςD ποιέωVF-FAI2P καίC ἰδούI ἐγώRP-NS εἰςπορεύομαιV1-PMI1S ἐνP ἀρχήN1-DSF ὁRA-GSF παρεμβολήN1-GSF καίC εἰμίVF-FMI3S καθώςD ἄνX ποιέωVA-AAS1S οὕτωςD ποιέωVF-FAI2P |
[17]And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do. |
| [18]καίC σαλπίζωVF2-FAI1S ἐνP ὁRA-DSF κερατίνηN1-DSF ἐγώRP-NS καίC πᾶςA3-NPM μετάP ἐγώRP-GS σαλπίζωVF2-FAI2P ἐνP ὁRA-DPF κερατίνηN1-DPF κύκλοςN2-DSM ὅλοςA1-GSF ὁRA-GSF παρεμβολήN1-GSF καίC εἶπονVF2-FAI2P ὁRA-DSM κύριοςN2-DSM καίC ὁRA-DSM *γεδεωνN--DSM |
[18]When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon. |

[19]So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands. |

[20]And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon. |
| [21]καίC ἵστημιVAI-AAI3P ἀνήρN3-NSM ἐπίP ἑαυτοῦRD-DSM κύκλοςN2-DSM ὁRA-GSF παρεμβολήN1-GSF καίC τρέχωVBI-AAI3S πᾶςA1S-NSF ὁRA-NSF παρεμβολήN1-NSF καίC σημαίνωVZI-AAI3P καίC φεύγωVZI-AAI3P |
[21]And they stood every man in his place round about the camp; and all the host ran, and cried, and fled. |
| [22]καίC σαλπίζωVAI-AAI3P ἐνP ὁRA-DPF τριακόσιοιA1A-DPF κερατίνηN1-DPF καίC τίθημιVAI-AAI3S κύριοςN2-NSM ὁRA-ASF ῥομφαίαN1A-ASF ἀνήρN3-GSM ἐνP ὁRA-DSM πλησίονD αὐτόςRD-GSM ἐνP πᾶςA1S-DSF ὁRA-DSF παρεμβολήN1-DSF καίC φεύγωVBI-AAI3S ὁRA-NSF παρεμβολήN1-NSF ἕωςP *βηθσεεδταN--GS *γαραγαθαN--GS ἕωςP χεῖλοςN3E-GSN *αβωμεουλαN--GS ἐπίP *ταβαθN--GS |
[22]And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every man's sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abelmeholah, unto Tabbath. |
| [23]καίC βοάωVAI-AAI3P ἀνήρN3-NSM *ἰσραήλN--GSM ἀπόP *νεφθαλιN--GSM καίC ἀπόP *ασηρN--GSM καίC ἀπόP πᾶςA3-GSM *μανασσήN--GSM καίC διώκωVAI-AAI3P ὀπίσωP *μαδιαμN--GSF |
[23]And the men of Israel gathered themselves together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued after the Midianites. |
| [24]καίC ἄγγελοςN2-APM ἀποστέλλωVAI-AAI3S *γεδεωνN--NSM ἐνP πᾶςA3-DSN ὄροςN3E-DSN *ἐφράιμN--GSM λέγωV1-PAPNSM καταβαίνωVZ-AAD2P εἰςP συνάντησιςN3I-ASF *μαδιαμN--GSF καίC καταλαμβάνωVB-AAD2P ἑαυτοῦRD-DPM ὁRA-ASN ὕδωρN3-ASN ἕωςP *βαιθηραN--GS καίC ὁRA-ASM *ἰορδάνηςN1M-ASM καίC βοάωVAI-AAI3S πᾶςA3-NSM ἀνήρN3-NSM *ἐφράιμN--GSM καίC προ καταλαμβάνωVBI-AMI3P ὁRA-ASN ὕδωρN3-ASN ἕωςP *βαιθηραN--GS καίC ὁRA-ASM *ἰορδάνηςN1M-ASM |
[24]And Gideon sent messengers throughout all mount Ephraim, saying, come down against the Midianites, and take before them the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan. Then all the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and took the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan. |
| [25]καίC συνλαμβάνωVBI-AAI3P ὁRA-APM ἄρχωνN3-APM *μαδιαμN--GSF καίC ὁRA-ASM *ωρηβN--ASM καίC ὁRA-ASM *ζηβN--ASM καίC ἀποκτείνωVAI-AAI3P ὁRA-ASM *ωρηβN--ASM ἐνP *σουρN--DS καίC ὁRA-ASM *ζηβN--ASM ἀποκτείνωVAI-AAI3P ἐνP *ιακεφζηφN--DS καίC καταδιώκωVAI-AAI3P *μαδιαμN--ASF καίC ὁRA-ASF κεφαλήN1-ASF *ωρηβN--GSM καίC *ζηβN--GSM φέρωVAI-AAI3P πρόςP *γεδεωνN--ASM ἀπόP πέρανP ὁRA-GSM *ἰορδάνηςN1M-GSM |
[25]And they took two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb; and they slew Oreb upon the rock Oreb, and Zeeb they slew at the winepress of Zeeb, and pursued Midian, and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon on the other side Jordan. |
