[1]And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, saying: |
[2]ὕστερονD ἐκἔρχομαιVB-AAPGSM *ιεχονιαςN1T-GSM ὁRA-GSM βασιλεύςN3V-GSM καίC ὁRA-GSF βασίλισσαN1S-GSF καίC ὁRA-GPM εὐνοῦχοςN2-GPM καίC πᾶςA3-GSM ἐλεύθεροςA1A-GSM καίC δεσμώτηςN1M-GSM καίC τεχνίτηςN1M-GSM ἐκP *ἰερουσαλήμN--GSF |
[2]'Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day. |
[3]ἐνP χείρN3-DSF *ελεασαN--GSM υἱόςN2-GSM *σαφανN--GSM καίC *γαμαριοςN2-GSM υἱόςN2-GSM *χελκιαςN1T-GSM ὅςRR-ASM ἀποστέλλωVAI-AAI3S *σεδεκιαςN1T-NSM βασιλεύςN3V-NSM *ιουδαN--GSM πρόςP βασιλεύςN3V-ASM *βαβυλώνN3W-GSF εἰςP *βαβυλώνN3W-ASF λέγωV1-PAPNSM |
[3]It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way, and I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.' |

[4]Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah; and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, which He had spoken unto him, upon a roll of a book. |
[5]οἰκοδομέωVA-AAD2P οἶκοςN2-APM καίC καταοἰκέωVA-AAD2P καίC φυτεύωVA-AAD2P παράδεισοςN2-APM καίC ἐσθίωVF-FAI2P ὁRA-APM καρπόςN2-APM αὐτόςRD-GPM |
[5]And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying: 'I am detained, I cannot go into the house of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇; |
[6]καίC λαμβάνωVB-AAD2P γυνήN3K-APF καίC τεκνοποιέωVA-AAD2P υἱόςN2-APM καίC θυγάτηρN3-APF καίC λαμβάνωVB-AAD2P ὁRA-DPM υἱόςN2-DPM σύRP-GP γυνήN3K-APF καίC ὁRA-APF θυγάτηρN3-APF σύRP-GP ἀνήρN3-DPM δίδωμιVO-AAD2P καίC πληθύνωV1-PMI2P καίC μήD σμικρύνωVC-APS2P |
[6]Therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 in the ears of the people in 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇'S house upon a fast-day; and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities. |
[7]καίC ζητέωVA-AAD2P εἰςP εἰρήνηN1-ASF ὁRA-GSF γῆN1-GSF εἰςP ὅςRR-ASF ἀποοἰκίζωVAI-AAI1S σύRP-AP ἐκεῖD καίC προςεὔχομαιVA-AMI2P περίP αὐτόςRD-GPM πρόςP κύριοςN2-ASM ὅτιC ἐνP εἰρήνηN1-DSF αὐτόςRD-GSF εἰμίVF-FMI3S εἰρήνηN1-NSF σύRP-DP |
[7]It may be they will present their supplication before 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, and will return every one from his evil way; for great is the anger and the fury that 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 hath pronounced against this people.' |
[8]ὅτιC οὕτωςD εἶπονVBI-AAI3S κύριοςN2-NSM μήD ἀναπείθωV1-PAD3P σύRP-AP ὁRA-NPM ψευδοπροφήτηςN1M-NPM ὁRA-NPM ἐνP σύRP-DP καίC μήD ἀναπείθωV1-PAD3P σύRP-AP ὁRA-NPM μάντιςN3I-NPM σύRP-GP καίC μήD ἀκούωV1-PAD2P εἰςP ὁRA-APN ἐνύπνιονN2N-APN σύRP-GP ὅςRR-APN σύRP-NP ἐνὑπνιάζωV1-PMI2P |
[8]And Baruch the son of Neriah d according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 in 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇'S house. |
[9]ὅτιC ἄδικοςA1B-APN αὐτόςRD-NPM προφητεύωV1-PAI3P σύRP-DP ἐπίP ὁRA-DSN ὄνομαN3M-DSN ἐγώRP-GS καίC οὐD ἀποστέλλωVAI-AAI1S αὐτόςRD-APM |
[9]Now it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, all the people in Jerusalem, and all the people that came from the cities of Judah unto Jerusalem. |
[10]ὅτιC οὕτωςD εἶπονVBI-AAI3S κύριοςN2-NSM ὅτανD μέλλωV1-PAS3S πληρόωV4-PMN *βαβυλώνN3W-DSF ἑβδομήκονταM ἔτοςN3E-APN ἐπισκέπτωVF-FMI1S σύRP-AP καίC ἐπιἵστημιVF-FAI1S ὁRA-APM λόγοςN2-APM ἐγώRP-GS ἐπίP σύRP-AP ὁRA-GSN ὁRA-ASM λαόςN2-ASM σύRP-GP ἀποστρέφωVA-AAN εἰςP ὁRA-ASM τόποςN2-ASM οὗτοςRD-ASM |
[10]Then did Baruch read in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the upper court, at the entry of the new gate of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇'S house, in the ears of all the people. |
[11]καίC λογίζομαιVF2-FMI1S ἐπίP σύRP-AP λογισμόςN2-ASM εἰρήνηN1-GSF καίC οὐD κακόςA1-APN ὁRA-GSN δίδωμιVO-AAN σύRP-DP οὗτοςRD-APN |
[11]And when Micaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all the words of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, |
[12]καίC προςεὔχομαιVA-AMI2P πρόςP ἐγώRP-AS καίC εἰςἀκούωVF-FMI1S σύRP-GP |
[12]He went down into the king's house, into the scribe's chamber; and, lo, all the princes sat there, even Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son o Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes. |
[13]καίC ἐκζητέωVA-AAD2P ἐγώRP-AS καίC εὑρίσκωVF-FAI2P ἐγώRP-AS ὅτιC ζητέωVF-FAI2P ἐγώRP-AS ἐνP ὅλοςA1-DSF καρδίαN1A-DSF σύRP-GP |
[13]Then Micaiah declared unto them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people. |
[14]καίC ἐπιφαίνωVF2-FMI1S σύRP-DP |
[14]Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto Baruch, saying: 'Take in thy hand the roll wherein thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come.' So Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them. |
[15]ὅτιC εἶπονVAI-AAI2P καταἵστημιVHI-AAI3S ἐγώRP-DP κύριοςN2-NSM προφήτηςN1M-APM ἐνP *βαβυλώνN3W-DSF |
[15]And they said unto him: 'Sit down now, and read it in our ears.' So Baruch read it in their ears. |

[16]Now it came to pass, when they had heard all the words, they turned in fear one toward another, and said unto Baruch: 'We will surely tell the king of all these words.' |
17[No verse] |
[17]And they asked Baruch, saying: 'Tell us now: How didst thou write all these words at his mouth?' |
18[No verse] |
[18]Then Baruch answered them: 'He pronounced all these words unto me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.' |

[19]Then said the princes unto Baruch: 'Go, hide thee, thou and Jeremiah, and let no man know where ye are.' |
20[No verse] |
[20]And they went in to the king into the court; but they had deposited the roll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe; and they told all the words in the ears of the king. |
[21]οὕτωςD εἶπονVBI-AAI3S κύριοςN2-NSM ἐπίP *αχιαβN--ASM καίC ἐπίP *σεδεκιαςN1T-ASM ἰδούI ἐγώRP-NS δίδωμιV8-PAI1S αὐτόςRD-APM εἰςP χείρN3-APF βασιλεύςN3V-GSM *βαβυλώνN3W-GSF καίC πατάσσωVF-FAI3S αὐτόςRD-APM κατάP ὀφθαλμόςN2-APM σύRP-GP |
[21]So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll; and he took it out of the chamber of Elishama the scribe. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes that stood beside the king. |
[22]καίC λαμβάνωVF-FMI3P ἀπόP αὐτόςRD-GPM κατάραN1A-ASF ἐνP πᾶςA1S-DSF ὁRA-DSF ἀποικίαN1A-DSF *ιουδαN--GSM ἐνP *βαβυλώνN3W-DSF λέγωV1-PAPNPM ποιέωVA-AMD2S σύRP-AS κύριοςN2-NSM ὡςC *σεδεκιαςN1T-ASM ποιέωVAI-AAI3S καίC ὡςC *αχιαβN--ASM ὅςRR-APM ἀποτηγανίζωVAI-AAI3S βασιλεύςN3V-NSM *βαβυλώνN3W-GSF ἐνP πῦρN3-DSN |
[22]Now the king was sitting in the winter-house in the ninth month; and the brazier was burning before him. |
[23]διάP ὅςRR-ASF ποιέωVAI-AAI3P ἀνομίαN1A-ASF ἐνP *ἰσραήλN--DSM καίC μοιχάομαιV3I-IMI3P ὁRA-APF γυνήN3K-APF ὁRA-GPM πολίτηςN1-GPM αὐτόςRD-GPM καίC λόγοςN2-ASM χρηματίζωVAI-AAI3P ἐνP ὁRA-DSN ὄνομαN3M-DSN ἐγώRP-GS ὅςRR-ASM οὐD συντάσσωVAI-AAI1S αὐτόςRD-DPM καίC ἐγώRP-NS μάρτυςN3-NSM φημίV6-PAI3S κύριοςN2-NSM |
[23]And it came to pass, when Jehudi had read three or four columns, that he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was in the brazier, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier. |
[24]καίC πρόςP *σαμαιαςN1T-ASM ὁRA-ASM *νελαμίτηςN1M-ASM εἶπονVF2-FAI2S |
[24]Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words. |
[25]οὐD ἀποστέλλωVAI-AAI1S σύRP-AS ὁRA-DSN ὄνομαN3M-DSN ἐγώRP-GS καίC πρόςP *σοφονιαςN1T-ASM υἱόςN2-ASM *μαασαιαςN1T-GSM ὁRA-ASM ἱερεύςN3V-ASM εἶπονVB-AAD2S |
[25]Moreover Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had entreated the king not to burn the roll; but he would not hear them. |
[26]κύριοςN2-NSM δίδωμιVAI-AAI3S σύRP-AS εἰςP ἱερεύςN3V-ASM ἀντίP *ιωδαεN--GSM ὁRA-GSM ἱερεύςN3V-GSM γίγνομαιVB-AMN ἐπιστάτηςN1-ASM ἐνP ὁRA-DSM οἶκοςN2-DSM κύριοςN2-GSM πᾶςA3-DSM ἄνθρωποςN2-DSM προφητεύωV1-PAPDSM καίC πᾶςA3-DSM ἄνθρωποςN2-DSM μαίνομαιV1-PMPDSM καίC δίδωμιVF-FAI2S αὐτόςRD-ASM εἰςP ὁRA-ASN ἀπόκλεισμαN3M-ASN καίC εἰςP ὁRA-ASM καταρράκτηςN1M-ASM |
[26]And the king commanded Jerahmeel the king's son, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet; but 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 hid them. |
[27]καίC νῦνD διάP τίςRI-ASN συνλοιδορέωVAI-AAI3P *ἰερεμίαςN1T-ASM ὁRA-ASM ἐκP *αναθωθN--GPF ὁRA-ASM προφητεύωVA-AAPASM σύRP-DP |
[27]Then the word of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the roll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying: |
[28]οὐD διάP οὗτοςRD-ASN ἀποστέλλωVAI-AAI3S πρόςP σύRP-AP εἰςP *βαβυλώνN3W-ASF λέγωV1-PAPNSM μακρόςA1A-ASF εἰμίV9-PAI3S οἰκοδομέωVA-AAD2P οἰκίαN1A-GSF καίC καταοἰκέωVA-AAD2P καίC φυτεύωVA-AAD2P κῆποςN2-APM καίC ἐσθίωVF-FMI2P ὁRA-ASM καρπόςN2-ASM αὐτόςRD-GPM |
[28]'Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned. |
[29]καίC ἀναγιγνώσκωVZI-AAI3S *σοφονιαςN1T-NSM ὁRA-ASN βιβλίονN2N-ASN εἰςP ὁRA-APN οὖςN3T-APN *ἰερεμίαςN1T-GSM |
[29]And concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah thou shalt say: Thus saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇: Thou hast burned this roll, saying: Why hast thou written therein, saying: The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast? |
[30]καίC γίγνομαιVBI-AMI3S λόγοςN2-NSM κύριοςN2-GSM πρόςP *ἰερεμίαςN1T-ASM λέγωV1-PAPNSM |
[30]Therefore thus saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David; and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost. |
[31]ἀποστέλλωVB-AAD2S πρόςP ὁRA-ASF ἀποικίαN1A-ASF λέγωV1-PAPNSM οὕτωςD εἶπονVBI-AAI3S κύριοςN2-NSM ἐπίP *σαμαιαςN1T-ASM ὁRA-ASM *νελαμίτηςN1M-ASM ἐπειδήC προφητεύωVAI-AAI3S σύRP-DP *σαμαιαςN1T-NSM καίC ἐγώRP-NS οὐD ἀποστέλλωVAI-AAI1S αὐτόςRD-ASM καίC πείθωVX-XAN ποιέωVAI-AAI3S σύRP-AP ἐπίP ἄδικοςA1B-DPM |
[31]And I will visit upon him and his seed and his servants their iniquity; and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I h pronounced against them, but they hearkened not.' |
[32]διάP οὗτοςRD-ASN οὕτωςD εἶπονVBI-AAI3S κύριοςN2-NSM ἰδούI ἐγώRP-NS ἐπισκέπτωVF-FMI1S ἐπίP *σαμαιαςN1T-ASM καίC ἐπίP ὁRA-ASN γένοςN3E-ASN αὐτόςRD-GSM καίC οὐD εἰμίVF-FMI3S αὐτόςRD-GPM ἄνθρωποςN2-NSM ἐνP μέσοςA1-DSM σύRP-GP ὁRA-GSN ὁράωVB-AAN ὁRA-APN ἀγαθόςA1-APN ὅςRR-APN ἐγώRP-NS ποιέωVF-FAI1S σύRP-DP οὐD ὁράωVF-FMI3P |
[32]Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it t Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire; and there were added besides unto them many like words. |
