[1]ܘܡܸܛܠ ܕܐܝܼܬ̣ ܠܟ݂ܣܦܵܐ ܢܸܦܩܵܐ: ܘܐܲܬ̣ܪܵܐ ܕܲܠܕܲܗܒ̣ܵܐ ܡܫܲܚܠܝܼܢ. |
| [2]Iron is taken out of the earth, and brass is smelted out of the stone. |
[2]ܘܦܲܪܙܠܵܐ ܡ̣ܢ ܥܲܦܪܵܐ ܡܸܬ̣̱ܢܣܸܟ݂ ܘܡ̣ܢ ܟܹܐܦܹ̈ܐ ܡܸܬ̣̱ܢܣܸܟ݂ ܢܚܵܫܵܐ. |
| [3]God sets an end to darkness, and knows the end of everything, the deep and dark mine and the shadow of death. |
[3]ܩܸܨܵܐ ܣܵܡ̣ ܠܚܸܫܘܿܟ݂ܵܐ ܘܲܠܟ݂ܠ ܣܵܘܦܵܐ ܗ̤ܘ ܝܵܕܲܥ: ܟܹܐܦܵܐ ܕܚܲܒ̣ܪܵܐ ܘܛܸܠܵܠܹܗ ܕܡܵܘܬܵܐ. |
| [4]They have inherited a ruined mine from an alien people; they are gone astray from the right path and their number has diminished from among men. |
[4]ܬܘܼܪ̱ܥܬ̣ܵܐ ܝܼܪܸܬ̣ܘ ܡ̣ܢ ܥܲܡܵܐ ܓܝܼܘܿܪܵܐ. ܐܸܬ̇ܛܥܝܼܘ ܡ̣ܢ ܪܸ̈ܓ̣ܠܵܬ̣ܵܐ. ܘܐܸܬ̇ܕܲܠܲܠܘ ܡ̣ܢ ܐ̄ܢܵܫܵܐ. |
| [5]They lay open the earth, out of which comes sustenance; and from under it is turned up material as if it were burned with fire. |
[5]ܓ̣ܠܵܘ ܐܲܪܥܵܐ ܕܡܸܢܵܗ̇ ܢܵܦܹ̇ܩ ܡܵܙܘܿܢܵܐ. ܘܲܬ̣ܚܘܿܬܹܝܗ̇ ܡܸܬ̣ܗܲܦܲܟ݂ ܐܲܝܟ݂ ܢܘܼܪܵܐ. |
| [6]The stones of it are the place where sapphires are found, and it has dust of gold in its paths. |
[6]ܘܕ݂ܘܼܟ̇ܬܵܐ ܕܣܲܦܝܼܠܵܐ ܟܹܐܦܹܝ̈ܗ̇. ܘܫܵܚܠܵܐ ܕܕܲܗܒ̣ܵܐ ܒܲܫܒ̣ܝܼ̈ܠܹܝܗ̇. |
| [7]There is a path which no bird knows, and the vulture's eye has not seen; |
[7]ܠܵܐ ܝܼܕܲܥܬ̣ܵܗ̇ ܛܲܝܪܵܐ: ܘܠܵܐ ܚܙܵܬ̣ܵܗ̇ ܥܹܝܢ ܕܲܝܬܵܐ. |
| [8]Wild beasts have not trodden it, nor has the lion passed by it. |
[8]ܘܠܵܐ ܕܲܪ̈ܫܵܗ̇ ܚܲܝ̈ܘܵܬ̣ܵܐ. ܘܠܵܐ ܥܸܒܲܪ ܥܠܹܝܗ̇ ܐܲܪܝܵܐ. |
| [9]The miner puts forth his hand upon the hard rock to break it; he overturns the mountains from their foundations. |
[9]ܒܟܹܐܦ ܛܲܪܵܢܝܼܢ ܐܵܘܫܸܛ̣ ܐܝܼܕܹܗ. ܘܲܗ̣ܦܲܟ݂ ܡ̣ܢ ܥܸܩܵܪ̈ܲܝܗܘܿܢ ܛܘܼܪ̈ܝܼܢ. |
| [10]He divides the rivers by his might; and his eye sees every precious thing. |
[10]ܒܚܵܘܣܵܢܹܗ ܢܲܗܪ̈ܵܘܵܢ ܢܦܲܠܸܓ̣. ܘܟ݂ܠ ܐܝܼܩܵܪ ܚܙܵܬ̤ ܥܲܝܢܹܗ. |
| [11]He binds up the rivers that they may not overflow; and the thing that is hid, he brings forth to light. |
[11]ܘܥܘܼܫܢܵܐ ܕܢܲܗܪ̈ܵܘܵܬ̣ܵܐ ܚ̣ܒܲܫ ܘܡ̣ܢ ܬܲܚܦܝܼܬ̣ܵܐ ܢܦܲܩ̣ ܢܘܼܗܪܵܐ. |
| [12]But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding thereof? |
[12]ܘܚܸܟ݂ܡ̱ܬ̣ܵܐ ܐܲܝܡܸܟܵܐ ܬܸܫܬ̇ܟܲܚ ܘܐܲܝܢܵܐ ܗ̄ܘܼ ܐܲܬ̣ܪܵܐ ܕܣܘܼܟܵܠܵܗ̇. |
| [13]No man knows the treasure thereof; neither is it found except in the land of the living |
[13]ܠܵܐ ܝܑܼܕܲܥ̣ ܐ̄ܢܵܫ ܓܲܙܵܗ̇: ܘܠܵܐ ܡܸܫܬܲܟ݂ܚܵܐ ܐܸܠܵܐ ܐܸܢ ܒܐܲܬ̣ܪܵܐ ܕܚܲܝܹ̈ܐ. |
| [14]The depth says, It is not in me, and the sea says, It is not with me. |
[14]ܬܗܘܿܡܵܐ ܐܵܡܲܪ ܠܵܐ ܗܘ̤ܵܬ̣ ܒܝܼ. ܘܝܲܡܵܐ ܐܵܡ̇ܲܪ ܠܲܝܬ̇ ܠܘܵܬ̣ܝ. |
| [15]It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be counted for its price. |
[15]ܠܵܐ ܡܸܬ̣̱ܝܼܗܸܒ̣ ܕܲܗܒ̣ܵܐ ܚܠܵܦܹܝܗ̇. ܘܠܵܐ ܡܸܬ̣̱ܡܢܹܐ ܟܸܣܦܵܐ ܒܲܕ݂ܡܹ̈ܝܗ̇. |
| [16]It cannot be exchanged with the gold of Ophir, with precious onyx or sapphire. |
[16]ܠܵܐ ܡܸܬ̣ܚܲܠܦܵܐ ܒܕܲܗܒ̣ܵܐ ܕܐܵܘܦܹܝܪ: ܘܲܒ̣ܒܹܪ̈ܘܿܠܹܐ ܘܲܒ̣ܣܲܦܝܼܠܵܐ. |
| [17]The gold and the crystal cannot equal it; nor can precious pearls, jewels, and emeralds equal it. |
[17]ܠܵܐ ܦܵܚܹ̇ܡ ܠܵܗ̇ ܕܲܗܒ̣ܵܐ ܘܲܙܓ̣ܘܿܓ̣̈ܝܵܬ̣ܵܐ: ܘܡܲܪ̈ܓܵܢܝܵܬ̣ܵܐ ܛܵܒ̣ܵـ̈ـܬ̣ܵܐ. ܘܛܲܒ̣ܥܹ̈ܐ ܘܚܘܼܡܪܹ̈ܐ ܠܵܐ ܦܵܚ̇ܡܝܼܢ ܠܵܗ̇. |
| [18]For the price of wisdom is above that of precious stones. Nor can colored gems, emeralds, and diamonds equal it. |
[18]ܛܵܒܲܐܗ̄ܝܼ ܚܸܟ݂ܡ̱ܬ̣ܵܐ ܡ̣ܢ ܟܹܐܦܹ̈ܐ ܛܵܒ̣ܵـ̈ـܬ̣ܵܐ. ܠܵܐ ܦܵܚܹ̇ܡ ܠܵܗ̇ ܦܬ̣ܵܘܬ̇ܟ݂ܵܐ ܕܲܗܝܵܐ. ܘܒܲܙܡܲܪ̈ܓ̇ܕܹܐ: ܘܲܒ̣ܩܲܪ̈ܟܸ̇ܕ݂ܢܹܐ ܠܵܐ ܡܸܬ̣ܚܲܠܦܵܐ. |
| [19]For the price of wisdom is above everything, and nothing can equal it. The pearls of Ethiopia and the topaz cannot equal it |
[19]ܛܵܒ̣ܵܐ ܗ̄ܝܼ ܓܹܝܪ ܚܸܟ݂ܡ̱ܬ̣ܵܐ ܡ̣ܢ ܟܠ ܡܸܕܹ̇ܡ ܠܵܐ ܦܵܚܹ̇ܡ ܠܵܗ̇. ܡܲܪ̈ܓܵܢܝܵܬ̣ܵܐ ܕܟ݂ܘܼܫ ܘܟܹܐܦܹ̈ܐ ܕܦܸܕ̇ܬ̣ܵܐ ܠܵܐ ܦܵܚ̈ܡܵܢ ܠܵܗ̇. |
| [20]Whence then comes wisdom? And where is the place of understanding? |
[20]ܚܸܟ݂ܡ̱ܬ̣ܵܐ ܐܲܝܡܸܟܵܐ ܐܵܬܲܝܵܐ. ܘܐܲܝܢܵܘ ܐܲܬ̣ܪܵܐ ܕܣܘܼܟܵܠܵܗ̇. |
| [21]It is hid from the eyes of all living, and concealed from the fowls of the air. |
[21]ܟܲܣܝܵܐ ܗ̄ܝܼ ܡ̣ܢ ܥܲܝܢܲܝ̈ ܟܠ ܕܚܲܝ. ܘܡ̣ܢ ܦܵܪܲܚܬ̣ܵܐ ܕܲܫܡܲܝܵܐ ܡܣܲܬ̇ܪܵܐ ܗ̄ܝܼ. |
| [22]Destruction and death say, We have heard the report of it with our ears. |
[22]ܐܲܒ̣ܕܵܢܵܐ ܘܡܵܘܬܵܐ ܐܸܡܲܪܘ: ܕܒܸܐܕ݂ܢܲܝ̈ܢ ܫ̣ܡܲܥ̄ܢ ܫ̣ܡܥܵܗ̇. |
| [23]Because only God understands the way of it, and he knows the place thereof. |
[23]ܡܸܛܠ ܕܐܲܠܵܗܵܐ ܗ̄ܘܼ ܒܲܝܢܲܢ ܐܘܼܪ̈ܚܵܬ̣ܵܗ̇. ܘܗ̤ܘܝܘܼ ܝܵܕܲܥ ܕܘܼܟ̇ܬ̣ܵܗ̇. |
| [24]For he looks to the ends of the earth, and sees under the whole heaven; |
[24]ܡܸܛܠ ܕܗ̤ܘ ܚܵܙܹ̇ܐ ܠܣܘܿܦ ܟܠ ܕܒܲܐܪܥܵܐ. ܘܲܬ̣ܚܹܝܠ ܟܠ ܫܡܲܝܵܐ ܚܵܙܹ̇ܐ. |
| [25]For he made a weight for the wind, and meted it out by the measure. |
[25]ܕܲܥܒܲܕ݂ ܡܲܬ̣ܩܵܠܵܐ ܠܪܘܼܚܵܐ. ܘܡܲـ̈ـܝܵܐ ܐܲܬ̣ܩܸܢ ܒܲܟ݂ܝܵܠܬܵܐ. |
| [26]He made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning and the thunder. |
[26]ܥ̣ܒܲܕ݂ ܢܵܡ̇ܘܿܣܵܐ ܠܡܸܛܪܵܐ: ܘܐܘܼܪܚܵܐ ܠܚܸܙܘܵܢܹ̈ܐ ܕܩܵܠܵܐ. |
| [27]Then he saw it, and declared it; he measured it, yea, and searched it out. |
[27]ܗܵܝܕܹ̇ܝܢ ܚ̣ܙܵܗ̇ ܘܐܸܫܬܲܥܝܵܗ̇ ܬܲܩ̣ܠܵܗ̇: ܐܵܦ ܒܲܕܩ̣ܵܗ̇. |
| [28]And to man he said, Behold, the reverence of God, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding |
[28]ܘܐܸܡ̣ܲܪ ܠܒܲܪܢܵܫܵܐ: ܕܸܚܠ̱ܬܹܗ ܕܐܲܠܵܗܵܐ ܗ̤ܝ ܗ̄ܝܼ ܚܸܟ݂ܡ̱ܬ̣ܐ ܘܲܠܡܸܣܛܵܐ ܡ̣ܢ ܒܝܼܫܬܵܐ ܒܘܼܝܵܢܵܐ. |
