Peshitta NT (Etheridge, 1849)
PesNT(Eth)
[1]I I The Vine True and My Father is The Vine Dresser [1]I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
[2]Every branch in me fruit not yielding He takes away it and that which yields fruit He purges it that fruit much it shall bring forth [2]Every branch which in me giveth not fruits he taketh away; and that which giveth fruits he cleanseth, that more fruits it may give.
[3]You from now purged are because of the word that I have spoken with you [3]Now are you clean because of the word which I have spoken with you.
[4]Remain in me and I in you just as the branch not can yield fruit from itself unless it remains in the vine thus ? neither do you unless you abide in Me [4]Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot give fruits of itself if it abide not in the vine, so also cannot you, if you abide not in me.
[5]I I The Vine and you are the branches whoever remains in Me and I in him this one brings forth fruit much because without Me not are able you to do anything [5]I am the vine, and you the branches. Whoso abideth in me, and I in him, this produceth much fruits, because without me you cannot do any thing.
[6]Unless but a man abides in Me he is thrown away outside like a branch shriveled up and they gather throwing it into the fire to burn [6]But if a man abide not in me, he is cast without, as a withered branch; and, gathering, they cast it into the fire to burn.
[7]If but you will abide in me and My words will abide in you everything whatever you desire to ask shall be done for you [7]But if you abide in me, and my words abide in you, all whatever you will to ask shall be unto you.
[8]In this is glorified The Father that fruit much you will bring forth and you will be My disciples [8]IN this is glorified my Father, that much fruit you give, and be my disciples.
[9]Just as has loved Me My Father even I have loved you continue in My friendship mine [9]As my Father hath loved me, so I have loved you: continue in the love of me.
[10]If My commandments you keep you will remain in love My just as that I have kept commandments My Father's and abide I in His love [10]If my commandments you will keep, you shall abide in my love; as I have kept the commandments of my Father, and abide in his love.
[11]These things I have spoken with you that My joy may be in you and may be perfect your joy [11]These have I spoken with you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.
[12]This is My commandment that you love one another just as I have loved you [12]This is my commandment, That you love one another, as I have loved you.
[13]Love greater than this there is not that a person his life will lay down for the sake of his friends [13]Love which is greater than this is not, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
[14]You My friends are if you will do all that command I you [14]You are my friends, if you do all that I command you.
[15]Not after this call I you servants because a servant not knows what does his master My friends but I have called you because all that I have heard from My Father I have taught you [15]No more I call you servants, for the servant knoweth not what doeth his Lord; but my friends have I called you; wherefore all that I have heard from my Father, I have made known unto you.
[16]Not have you chosen Me but I do choose you and appoint you so that also you will go bring forth fruit and your fruit will remain that all you will ask My Father in My Name He will give to you [16]You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and placed you, that you also may go [and] yield much fruit; and your fruit shall remain, because all that you shall ask the Father in my name, he will give to you.
[17]These things command I you that you will love one another [17]These I command you, That you love one another.
[18]And if the world hates you know that before you Me it hated [18]And if the world hate you, know that, before you, it hated me.
[19]And if from the world you had been the world its own loved would have but not you were from the world I for have chosen you from the world because of this hates you the world [19]And if of the world you were, the world its own would have loved; but you are not of the world, for I have chosen you from the world; on which account the world hateth you.
[20]Remember the word that I have spoken to you that there is not a servant who is greater than his master if Me they have persecuted also you they will persecute and if My word they have kept also yours they will keep [20]Remember the word which I spake with you, That there is no servant who is greater than his lord. If me they have persecuted, you also will they persecute; and if my word they had kept, yours also would they keep.
[21]But these things all they will do among you because of My Name My because not they know Him Who has sent Me [21]But these all will they do to you on account of my name, because they know not Him who sent me.
[22]If I not had come speaking with them not there would have been to them sin now but there is not to them a reason ? for the sake of their sin [22]If I had not come and spoken with them, they had not had sin; but now have they no pretext for their sins.
[23]Whoever Me hates also My Father hates [23]He who hateth me, my Father also hateth.
[24]And if the works not I had done in their sight which a man another not has done not there would have been to them sin [24]And if the works I had not done before their eyes which no other man hath done, they had not had sin; but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father;
[25]That may be fulfilled the word that is written in their law they hated Me for nothing now but they have seen and hated also Me and even My Father [25]That the word may be fulfilled which is written in their law, They hated me undeservedly.
[26]When but comes The Redeemer of the accursed He Whom I shall send I to you from the Presence of My Father The Spirit of The Truth He it is Who from the Presence of My Father proceeds He shall testify concerning Me [26]But when the Paraclete cometh, He whom I will send unto you from my Father, the Spirit of Truth, He who from my Father cometh forth, He shall testify of me.
[27]Also you testifying are who from the beginning with Me are [27]You also testify, because from the beginning are you with me.
