| [1]And the Lord spak to Moises in the hil of Synai, |
[1]καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς μωυσῆν ἐν τῷ ὄρει σινα λέγων |
| [2]and seide, Speke thou to the sones of Israel, and thou schalt seye to hem, Whanne ye han entrid in to the lond which Y schal yyue to you, `the erthe kepe the sabat of the Lord; |
[2]λάλησον τοῖς υἱοῖς ισραηλ καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς ἐὰν εἰσέλθητε εἰς τὴν γῆν ἣν ἐγὼ δίδωμι ὑμῖν καὶ ἀναπαύσεται ἡ γῆ ἣν ἐγὼ δίδωμι ὑμῖν σάββατα τῷ κυρίῳ |
| [3]sixe yeeris thou schalt sowe thi feeld, and sixe yeeris thou schalt kitte thi vyner, and thou schalt gadere the fruytis ther of; |
[3]ἓξ ἔτη σπερεῖς τὸν ἀγρόν σου καὶ ἓξ ἔτη τεμεῖς τὴν ἄμπελόν σου καὶ συνάξεις τὸν καρπὸν αὐτῆς |
| [4]forsothe in the seuenthe yeer schal be sabat of the erthe of the restyng of the Lord; |
[4]τῷ δὲ ἔτει τῷ ἑβδόμῳ σάββατα ἀνάπαυσις ἔσται τῇ γῇ σάββατα τῷ κυρίῳ τὸν ἀγρόν σου οὐ σπερεῖς καὶ τὴν ἄμπελόν σου οὐ τεμεῖς |
| [5]thou schalt not sowe the feeld, and thou schalt not kitte the vyner, thou schalt not repe tho thingis whiche the erthe bryngith forth `bi fre wille, and thou schalt not gadere the grapis of thi firste fruytis, as vyndage; for it is the yeer of restyng of the lond; but tho schulen be to you in to mete, |
[5]καὶ τὰ αὐτόματα ἀναβαίνοντα τοῦ ἀγροῦ σου οὐκ ἐκθερίσεις καὶ τὴν σταφυλὴν τοῦ ἁγιάσματός σου οὐκ ἐκτρυγήσεις ἐνιαυτὸς ἀναπαύσεως ἔσται τῇ γῇ |
| [6]to thee, and to thi seruaunt, to thin handmaide, and to thin hirid man, and to the comelyng which is a pilgrym at thee; alle thingis that `comen forth, |
[6]καὶ ἔσται τὰ σάββατα τῆς γῆς βρώματά σοι καὶ τῷ παιδί σου καὶ τῇ παιδίσκῃ σου καὶ τῷ μισθωτῷ σου καὶ τῷ παροίκῳ τῷ προσκειμένῳ πρὸς σέ |
| [7]schulen yyue mete to thi werk beestis and smale beestis. |
[7]καὶ τοῖς κτήνεσίν σου καὶ τοῖς θηρίοις τοῖς ἐν τῇ γῇ σου ἔσται πᾶν τὸ γένημα αὐτοῦ εἰς βρῶσιν |
| [8]Also thou schalt noumbre to thee seuene woukis of yeeris, that is, seuene sithes seuene, whiche togidere maken nyn and fourti yeer; |
[8]καὶ ἐξαριθμήσεις σεαυτῷ ἑπτὰ ἀναπαύσεις ἐτῶν ἑπτὰ ἔτη ἑπτάκις καὶ ἔσονταί σοι ἑπτὰ ἑβδομάδες ἐτῶν ἐννέα καὶ τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη |
| [9]and thou schalt sowne with a clarioun in the seuenthe monethe, in the tenthe dai of the monethe, in the tyme of propiciacioun, `that is, merci, in al youre lond. |
[9]καὶ διαγγελεῖτε σάλπιγγος φωνῇ ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ ὑμῶν τῷ μηνὶ τῷ ἑβδόμῳ τῇ δεκάτῃ τοῦ μηνός τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ ἱλασμοῦ διαγγελεῖτε σάλπιγγι ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ ὑμῶν |
| [10]And thou schalt halewe the fiftithe yeer, and thou schalt clepe remissioun to alle the dwellers of thi lond; for thilke yeer is iubilee; a man schal turne ayen to hys possessioun, and ech man schal go ayen to the firste meynee, |
[10]καὶ ἁγιάσετε τὸ ἔτος τὸ πεντηκοστὸν ἐνιαυτὸν καὶ διαβοήσετε ἄφεσιν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς πᾶσιν τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν αὐτήν ἐνιαυτὸς ἀφέσεως σημασία αὕτη ἔσται ὑμῖν καὶ ἀπελεύσεται εἷς ἕκαστος εἰς τὴν κτῆσιν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἕκαστος εἰς τὴν πατρίδα αὐτοῦ ἀπελεύσεσθε |
| [11]for it is iubilee, and the fiftithe yeer. Ye schulen not sowe, nether ye schulen repe thingis, that comen forth freli in the feeld, and ye schulen not gadere the firste fruytis of vyndage, for the halewyng of iubilee; |
[11]ἀφέσεως σημασία αὕτη τὸ ἔτος τὸ πεντηκοστὸν ἐνιαυτὸς ἔσται ὑμῖν οὐ σπερεῖτε οὐδὲ ἀμήσετε τὰ αὐτόματα ἀναβαίνοντα αὐτῆς καὶ οὐ τρυγήσετε τὰ ἡγιασμένα αὐτῆς |
| [12]but anoon ye schulen ete thingis takun awey; |
[12]ὅτι ἀφέσεως σημασία ἐστίν ἅγιον ἔσται ὑμῖν ἀπὸ τῶν πεδίων φάγεσθε τὰ γενήματα αὐτῆς |
| [13]in the yeer of iubilee alle men go ayen to her possessiouns. |
[13]ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῆς ἀφέσεως σημασίᾳ αὐτῆς ἐπανελεύσεται ἕκαστος εἰς τὴν κτῆσιν αὐτοῦ |
| [14]Whanne thou schalt sille ony thing to thi citeseyn, ether schalt bie of hym, make thou not sory thi brother, but bi the noumbre of `yeeris of iubile thou schalt bie of him, |
[14]ἐὰν δὲ ἀποδῷ πρᾶσιν τῷ πλησίον σου ἐὰν καὶ κτήσῃ παρὰ τοῦ πλησίον σου μὴ θλιβέτω ἄνθρωπος τὸν πλησίον |
| [15]and bi the rekenyng of fruytis he schal sille to thee. |
[15]κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ἐτῶν μετὰ τὴν σημασίαν κτήσῃ παρὰ τοῦ πλησίον κατὰ ἀριθμὸν ἐνιαυτῶν γενημάτων ἀποδώσεταί σοι |
| [16]Bi as myche as mo yeeris dwellen after the iubilee, by so myche also the prijs schal encreesse, and bi as myche as thou noumbrist lesse of tyme, bi so myche and the biyng schal cost lesse; for he schal sille to thee the time of fruytis. |
[16]καθότι ἂν πλεῖον τῶν ἐτῶν πληθύνῃ τὴν ἔγκτησιν αὐτοῦ καὶ καθότι ἂν ἔλαττον τῶν ἐτῶν ἐλαττονώσῃ τὴν κτῆσιν αὐτοῦ ὅτι ἀριθμὸν γενημάτων αὐτοῦ οὕτως ἀποδώσεταί σοι |
| [17]Nyle ye turment men of youre lynagis, but ech man drede his God; for Y am youre Lord God. |
[17]μὴ θλιβέτω ἄνθρωπος τὸν πλησίον καὶ φοβηθήσῃ κύριον τὸν θεόν σου ἐγώ εἰμι κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν |
| [18]Do ye my comaundementis, and kepe ye my domes, and fille ye tho, that ye moun dwelle in his lond without ony drede, |
[18]καὶ ποιήσετε πάντα τὰ δικαιώματά μου καὶ πάσας τὰς κρίσεις μου καὶ φυλάξασθε καὶ ποιήσετε αὐτὰ καὶ κατοικήσετε ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς πεποιθότες |
| [19]and that the erthe brynge forth hise fruytis to you, whiche ye schulen ete `til to fulnesse, and drede not the assailyng of ony man. |
[19]καὶ δώσει ἡ γῆ τὰ ἐκφόρια αὐτῆς καὶ φάγεσθε εἰς πλησμονὴν καὶ κατοικήσετε πεποιθότες ἐπ αὐτῆς |
| [20]That if ye seien, what schulen we ete in the seuenthe yeer, if we sowen not, nether gaderen oure fruytis? |
[20]ἐὰν δὲ λέγητε τί φαγόμεθα ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῷ ἑβδόμῳ τούτῳ ἐὰν μὴ σπείρωμεν μηδὲ συναγάγωμεν τὰ γενήματα ἡμῶν |
| [21]Y schal yyue my blessyng to you in the sixte yeer, and it schal make fruytis of three yeer; |
[21]καὶ ἀποστελῶ τὴν εὐλογίαν μου ὑμῖν ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῷ ἕκτῳ καὶ ποιήσει τὰ γενήματα αὐτῆς εἰς τὰ τρία ἔτη |
| [22]and ye schulen sowe in the eiyte yeer, and ye schulen ete elde fruytis `til to the nynthe yeer; til newe thingis comen forth ye schulen ete the elde thingis. |
[22]καὶ σπερεῖτε τὸ ἔτος τὸ ὄγδοον καὶ φάγεσθε ἀπὸ τῶν γενημάτων παλαιά ἕως τοῦ ἔτους τοῦ ἐνάτου ἕως ἂν ἔλθῃ τὸ γένημα αὐτῆς φάγεσθε παλαιὰ παλαιῶν |
| [23]Also the lond schal not be seeld `in to with outen ende, for it is myn, and ye ben my comelyngis and tenauntis; |
[23]καὶ ἡ γῆ οὐ πραθήσεται εἰς βεβαίωσιν ἐμὴ γάρ ἐστιν ἡ γῆ διότι προσήλυτοι καὶ πάροικοι ὑμεῖς ἐστε ἐναντίον μου |
| [24]wherfor al the cuntre of youre possessioun schal be seeld vndur the condicioun of ayenbiyng. |
[24]καὶ κατὰ πᾶσαν γῆν κατασχέσεως ὑμῶν λύτρα δώσετε τῆς γῆς |
| [25]If thi brother is maad pore, and sillith his litil possessioun, and his nyy kynesman wole, he may ayenbie that that he seelde; |
[25]ἐὰν δὲ πένηται ὁ ἀδελφός σου ὁ μετὰ σοῦ καὶ ἀποδῶται ἀπὸ τῆς κατασχέσεως αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔλθῃ ὁ ἀγχιστεύων ἐγγίζων ἔγγιστα αὐτοῦ καὶ λυτρώσεται τὴν πρᾶσιν τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ |
| [26]sotheli if he hath no nyy kynesman, and he may fynde prijs to ayenbie, |
[26]ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ᾖ τινι ὁ ἀγχιστεύων καὶ εὐπορηθῇ τῇ χειρὶ καὶ εὑρεθῇ αὐτῷ τὸ ἱκανὸν λύτρα αὐτοῦ |
| [27]the fruytis schulen be rekynyd fro that tyme in which he seelde, and he schal yelde `that that is residue to the biere, and he schal resseyue so his possessioun. |
[27]καὶ συλλογιεῖται τὰ ἔτη τῆς πράσεως αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀποδώσει ὃ ὑπερέχει τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ ᾧ ἀπέδοτο ἑαυτὸν αὐτῷ καὶ ἀπελεύσεται εἰς τὴν κατάσχεσιν αὐτοῦ |
| [28]That if his hond fynde not, that he yelde the prijs, the biere schal haue that that he bouyte, `til to the yeer of iubilee; for in that yeer ech sillyng schal go ayen to the lord, and to the firste weldere. |
[28]ἐὰν δὲ μὴ εὐπορηθῇ ἡ χεὶρ αὐτοῦ τὸ ἱκανὸν ὥστε ἀποδοῦναι αὐτῷ καὶ ἔσται ἡ πρᾶσις τῷ κτησαμένῳ αὐτὰ ἕως τοῦ ἕκτου ἔτους τῆς ἀφέσεως καὶ ἐξελεύσεται τῇ ἀφέσει καὶ ἀπελεύσεται εἰς τὴν κατάσχεσιν αὐτοῦ |
| [29]He that sillith his hows, with ynne the wallis of a citee, schal haue licence to ayenbie til o yeer be fillid; |
[29]ἐὰν δέ τις ἀποδῶται οἰκίαν οἰκητὴν ἐν πόλει τετειχισμένῃ καὶ ἔσται ἡ λύτρωσις αὐτῆς ἕως πληρωθῇ ἐνιαυτὸς ἡμερῶν ἔσται ἡ λύτρωσις αὐτῆς |
| [30]if he ayenbieth not, and the sercle of the yeer is passid, the biere schal welde it, and his eiris `in to with outen ende, and it schal not mow be ayenbouyt, ye, in the iubilee. |
[30]ἐὰν δὲ μὴ λυτρωθῇ ἕως ἂν πληρωθῇ αὐτῆς ἐνιαυτὸς ὅλος κυρωθήσεται ἡ οἰκία ἡ οὖσα ἐν πόλει τῇ ἐχούσῃ τεῖχος βεβαίως τῷ κτησαμένῳ αὐτὴν εἰς τὰς γενεὰς αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἐξελεύσεται ἐν τῇ ἀφέσει |
| [31]Forsothe if the hows is in a town `that hath not wallis, it schal be seeld bi the lawe of feeldis; sotheli if it is not ayenbouyt in the iubilee, it schal turne ayen to `his lord. |
[31]αἱ δὲ οἰκίαι αἱ ἐν ἐπαύλεσιν αἷς οὐκ ἔστιν ἐν αὐταῖς τεῖχος κύκλῳ πρὸς τὸν ἀγρὸν τῆς γῆς λογισθήτωσαν λυτρωταὶ διὰ παντὸς ἔσονται καὶ ἐν τῇ ἀφέσει ἐξελεύσονται |
| [32]The howsis of dekenes, that ben in citees, moun euer be ayenbouyt; if tho ben not ayenbouyt, |
[32]καὶ αἱ πόλεις τῶν λευιτῶν οἰκίαι τῶν πόλεων αὐτῶν κατασχέσεως λυτρωταὶ διὰ παντὸς ἔσονται τοῖς λευίταις |
| [33]tho schulen turne ayen in the iubilee `to the lordis; for the `howsis of the citees of dekenes ben for possessiouns among the sones of Israel; |
[33]καὶ ὃς ἂν λυτρωσάμενος παρὰ τῶν λευιτῶν καὶ ἐξελεύσεται ἡ διάπρασις αὐτῶν οἰκιῶν πόλεως κατασχέσεως αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ ἀφέσει ὅτι οἰκίαι τῶν πόλεων τῶν λευιτῶν κατάσχεσις αὐτῶν ἐν μέσῳ υἱῶν ισραηλ |
| [34]forsothe the suburbabis of hem schulen not be seeld, for it is euerlastynge possessioun. |
[34]καὶ οἱ ἀγροὶ οἱ ἀφωρισμένοι ταῖς πόλεσιν αὐτῶν οὐ πραθήσονται ὅτι κατάσχεσις αἰωνία τοῦτο αὐτῶν ἐστιν |
| [35]If thi brother is maad pore, and feble in power, and thou resseyuest hym as a comelyng and pilgrym, and he lyueth with thee, |
[35]ἐὰν δὲ πένηται ὁ ἀδελφός σου καὶ ἀδυνατήσῃ ταῖς χερσὶν παρὰ σοί ἀντιλήμψῃ αὐτοῦ ὡς προσηλύτου καὶ παροίκου καὶ ζήσεται ὁ ἀδελφός σου μετὰ σοῦ |
| [36]take thou not vsuris of hym, nether more than thou hast youe; drede thou thi God, that thi brothir mai lyue anentis thee. |
[36]οὐ λήμψῃ παρ αὐτοῦ τόκον οὐδὲ ἐπὶ πλήθει καὶ φοβηθήσῃ τὸν θεόν σου ἐγὼ κύριος καὶ ζήσεται ὁ ἀδελφός σου μετὰ σοῦ |
| [37]Thou schalt not yyue to hym thi money to vsure, and thou schalt not axe ouer `aboundaunce, ether encrees ouer of fruytis; |
[37]τὸ ἀργύριόν σου οὐ δώσεις αὐτῷ ἐπὶ τόκῳ καὶ ἐπὶ πλεονασμὸν οὐ δώσεις αὐτῷ τὰ βρώματά σου |
| [38]Y am youre Lord God, that ladde you out of the lond of Egipt, that Y schulde yyue to you the lond of Canaan, and that Y schulde be youre God. |
[38]ἐγὼ κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν ὁ ἐξαγαγὼν ὑμᾶς ἐκ γῆς αἰγύπτου δοῦναι ὑμῖν τὴν γῆν χανααν ὥστε εἶναι ὑμῶν θεός |
| [39]If thi brother compellid bi pouert sillith hym silf to thee, thou schalt not oppresse hym bi seruage of seruauntis, |
[39]ἐὰν δὲ ταπεινωθῇ ὁ ἀδελφός σου παρὰ σοὶ καὶ πραθῇ σοι οὐ δουλεύσει σοι δουλείαν οἰκέτου |
| [40]but he schal be as an hirid man and tenaunt; `til to the yeer of iubilee he schal worche at thee, |
[40]ὡς μισθωτὸς ἢ πάροικος ἔσται σοι ἕως τοῦ ἔτους τῆς ἀφέσεως ἐργᾶται παρὰ σοί |
| [41]and aftirward he schal go out with his fre children, and he schal turne ayen to the kynrede, and to `the possessioun of his fadris. |
[41]καὶ ἐξελεύσεται τῇ ἀφέσει καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτοῦ μετ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπελεύσεται εἰς τὴν γενεὰν αὐτοῦ εἰς τὴν κατάσχεσιν τὴν πατρικὴν ἀποδραμεῖται |
| [42]For thei ben my seruauntis, and Y ledde hem out of the lond of Egipt; thei schulen not be seeld bi the condicioun of seruauntis; |
[42]διότι οἰκέται μού εἰσιν οὗτοι οὓς ἐξήγαγον ἐκ γῆς αἰγύπτου οὐ πραθήσεται ἐν πράσει οἰκέτου |
| [43]turmente thou not hem bi thi power, but drede thou thi Lord. |
[43]οὐ κατατενεῖς αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ μόχθῳ καὶ φοβηθήσῃ κύριον τὸν θεόν σου |
| [44]A seruaunt and handmaide be to you of naciouns that ben in youre cumpas, |
[44]καὶ παῖς καὶ παιδίσκη ὅσοι ἂν γένωνταί σοι ἀπὸ τῶν ἐθνῶν ὅσοι κύκλῳ σού εἰσιν ἀπ αὐτῶν κτήσεσθε δοῦλον καὶ δούλην |
| [45]and of comelyngis that ben pilgrimys at you, ether thei that ben borun of hem in youre lond; ye schulen haue these seruauntis, |
[45]καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν τῶν παροίκων τῶν ὄντων ἐν ὑμῖν ἀπὸ τούτων κτήσεσθε καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν συγγενῶν αὐτῶν ὅσοι ἂν γένωνται ἐν τῇ γῇ ὑμῶν ἔστωσαν ὑμῖν εἰς κατάσχεσιν |
| [46]and bi riyt of eritage ye schulen `sende ouer to aftir comeris, and ye schulen welde with outen ende; sothely oppresse ye not bi power youre britheren, the sones of Israel. |
[46]καὶ καταμεριεῖτε αὐτοὺς τοῖς τέκνοις ὑμῶν μεθ ὑμᾶς καὶ ἔσονται ὑμῖν κατόχιμοι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τῶν ἀδελφῶν ὑμῶν τῶν υἱῶν ισραηλ ἕκαστος τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ οὐ κατατενεῖ αὐτὸν ἐν τοῖς μόχθοις |
| [47]If the hond of a comelyng and of a pilgrim wexith strong at you, and thi brother is maad pore, and sillith hym silf to hym, |
[47]ἐὰν δὲ εὕρῃ ἡ χεὶρ τοῦ προσηλύτου ἢ τοῦ παροίκου τοῦ παρὰ σοὶ καὶ ἀπορηθεὶς ὁ ἀδελφός σου πραθῇ τῷ προσηλύτῳ ἢ τῷ παροίκῳ τῷ παρὰ σοὶ ἐκ γενετῆς προσηλύτῳ |
| [48]ether to ony of his kyn, he may be ayenbouyt aftir the sillyng; he that wole of hise britheren, ayenbie hym; bothe `the brother of fadir, |
[48]μετὰ τὸ πραθῆναι αὐτῷ λύτρωσις ἔσται αὐτῷ εἷς τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτοῦ λυτρώσεται αὐτόν |
| [49]and the sone of `the fadris brother, and kynesman, and alye. Ellis if also he schal mow, he schal ayenbie hym silf, |
[49]ἀδελφὸς πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἢ υἱὸς ἀδελφοῦ πατρὸς λυτρώσεται αὐτὸν ἢ ἀπὸ τῶν οἰκείων τῶν σαρκῶν αὐτοῦ ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς αὐτοῦ λυτρώσεται αὐτόν ἐὰν δὲ εὐπορηθεὶς ταῖς χερσὶν λυτρώσηται ἑαυτόν |
| [50]while the yeeris ben rykenid oneli fro the tyme of his sillyng `til in to the yeer of iubylee; and while the money, for which he was seeld, is rikenyd bi the noumbre of yeeris, and while the hire of an hirid man is rikenyd. |
[50]καὶ συλλογιεῖται πρὸς τὸν κεκτημένον αὐτὸν ἀπὸ τοῦ ἔτους οὗ ἀπέδοτο ἑαυτὸν αὐτῷ ἕως τοῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ τῆς ἀφέσεως καὶ ἔσται τὸ ἀργύριον τῆς πράσεως αὐτοῦ ὡς μισθίου ἔτος ἐξ ἔτους ἔσται μετ αὐτοῦ |
| [51]If mo yeeris ben that dwellen `til to the iubilee, bi these yeeris he schal yelde also the prijs; if fewe yeeris ben, |
[51]ἐὰν δέ τινι πλεῖον τῶν ἐτῶν ᾖ πρὸς ταῦτα ἀποδώσει τὰ λύτρα αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀργυρίου τῆς πράσεως αὐτοῦ |
| [52]he schal sette rikenyng with hym bi the noumbre of yeeris; |
[52]ἐὰν δὲ ὀλίγον καταλειφθῇ ἀπὸ τῶν ἐτῶν εἰς τὸν ἐνιαυτὸν τῆς ἀφέσεως καὶ συλλογιεῖται αὐτῷ κατὰ τὰ ἔτη αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀποδώσει τὰ λύτρα αὐτοῦ |
| [53]and he schal yeelde to the biere that that is residue of yeeris, while tho yeeris, bi whiche he seruyde bifore, ben rikenyd for hiris; he schal not turmente `that Ebreu violentli in thi siyt. |
[53]ὡς μισθωτὸς ἐνιαυτὸν ἐξ ἐνιαυτοῦ ἔσται μετ αὐτοῦ οὐ κατατενεῖς αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ μόχθῳ ἐνώπιόν σου |
| [54]That if he may not be ayenbouyt bi this, he schal go out with his free children in the `yeer of iubilee; for the sones of Israel ben myn seruauntis, |
[54]ἐὰν δὲ μὴ λυτρῶται κατὰ ταῦτα ἐξελεύσεται ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῆς ἀφέσεως αὐτὸς καὶ τὰ παιδία αὐτοῦ μετ αὐτοῦ |
