Peshitta (Lamsa, 1933)
Pes(Lam)
[1]ειπεν δε προς τους μαθητας ανενδεκτον εστιν του μη ελθειν τα σκανδαλα ουαι δε δι ου ερχεται [1]AND Jesus said to his disciples, It is impossible but that offences should come; but woe to him by whose hand they come!
[2]λυσιτελει αυτω ει μυλος ονικος περικειται περι τον τραχηλον αυτου και ερριπται εις την θαλασσαν η ινα σκανδαλιση ενα των μικρων τουτων [2]It were better for him that an ass' millstone were hanged on his neck, and he thrown into the sea, than cause one of these little ones to stumble.
[3]προσεχετε εαυτοις εαν δε αμαρτη εις σε ο αδελφος σου επιτιμησον αυτω και εαν μετανοηση αφες αυτω [3]Beware among yourselves. If your brother should sin, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.
[4]και εαν επτακις της ημερας αμαρτη εις σε και επτακις της ημερας επιστρεψη λεγων μετανοω αφησεις αυτω [4]And if he should offend you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn to you and say, I repent; forgive him.
[5]και ειπον οι αποστολοι τω κυριω προσθες ημιν πιστιν [5]And the apostles said to our Lord, Increase our faith.
[6]ειπεν δε ο κυριος ει εχετε πιστιν ως κοκκον σιναπεως ελεγετε αν τη συκαμινω ταυτη εκριζωθητι και φυτευθητι εν τη θαλασση και υπηκουσεν αν υμιν [6]He said to them, If you have faith, even as a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, Be uprooted and planted in the sea; it would obey you.
[7]τις δε εξ υμων δουλον εχων αροτριωντα η ποιμαινοντα ος εισελθοντι εκ του αγρου ερει ευθεως παρελθων αναπεσε [7]Now which of you has a servant who ploughs or feeds sheep, and if he should come from the field, would say to him, Enter in and sit down?
[8]αλλ ουχι ερει αυτω ετοιμασον τι δειπνησω και περιζωσαμενος διακονει μοι εως φαγω και πιω και μετα ταυτα φαγεσαι και πιεσαι συ [8]But he will rather say to him, Prepare something that I may have my supper, and gird yourself and serve me until I eat and drink; and then you also can eat and drink.
[9]μη χαριν εχει τω δουλω εκεινω οτι εποιησεν τα διαταχθεντα ου δοκω [9]Why, will that servant receive praise, because he did what he was commanded to do? I do not think so.
[10]ουτως και υμεις οταν ποιησητε παντα τα διαταχθεντα υμιν λεγετε οτι δουλοι αχρειοι εσμεν οτι ο οφειλομεν ποιησαι πεποιηκαμεν [10]Even you also, when you have done all the things which are commanded you, say, We are idle servants; we have only done what was our duty to do.
[11]και εγενετο εν τω πορευεσθαι αυτον εις ιερουσαλημ και αυτος διηρχετο δια μεσου σαμαρειας και γαλιλαιας [11]And it came to pass, while Jesus was going to Jerusalem, he passed through Samaritan territory which is towards Galilee.
[12]και εισερχομενου αυτου εις τινα κωμην απηντησαν αυτω δεκα λεπροι ανδρες οι εστησαν πορρωθεν [12]And when he drew near to enter a village, he was met by ten lepers, and they stood afar off;
[13]και αυτοι ηραν φωνην λεγοντες ιησου επιστατα ελεησον ημας [13]And they lifted their voices saying, O Jesus, our Master, have mercy on us.
[14]και ιδων ειπεν αυτοις πορευθεντες επιδειξατε εαυτους τοις ιερευσιν και εγενετο εν τω υπαγειν αυτους εκαθαρισθησαν [14]And when he saw them he said to them, Go, show yourselves to the priests; and while they were going, they were cleansed.
[15]εις δε εξ αυτων ιδων οτι ιαθη υπεστρεψεν μετα φωνης μεγαλης δοξαζων τον θεον [15]But one of them, when he saw that he was cleansed, turned back, and with a loud voice praised God.
[16]και επεσεν επι προσωπον παρα τους ποδας αυτου ευχαριστων αυτω και αυτος ην σαμαρειτης [16]And he fell on his face at the feet of Jesus, thanking him; and this one was a Samaritan.
[17]αποκριθεις δε ο ιησους ειπεν ουχι οι δεκα εκαθαρισθησαν οι δε εννεα που [17]Jesus answered and said, Were there not ten who were cleansed? where are the nine?
[18]ουχ ευρεθησαν υποστρεψαντες δουναι δοξαν τω θεω ει μη ο αλλογενης ουτος [18]Why did they separate themselves so as not to come and give praise to God, except this man who is of a strange people?
[19]και ειπεν αυτω αναστας πορευου η πιστις σου σεσωκεν σε [19]And he said to him, Arise, go, your faith has healed you.
[20]επερωτηθεις δε υπο των φαρισαιων ποτε ερχεται η βασιλεια του θεου απεκριθη αυτοις και ειπεν ουκ ερχεται η βασιλεια του θεου μετα παρατηρησεως [20]When some of the Pharisees asked Jesus, when the kingdom of God would come, he answered and said to them, The kingdom of God does not come by observation.
[21]ουδε ερουσιν ιδου ωδε η ιδου εκει ιδου γαρ η βασιλεια του θεου εντος υμων εστιν [21]Neither will they say, Behold, it is here! or, behold, it is there! for behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
[22]ειπεν δε προς τους μαθητας ελευσονται ημεραι οτε επιθυμησετε μιαν των ημερων του υιου του ανθρωπου ιδειν και ουκ οψεσθε [22]And he said to his disciples, The days will come when you will covet to see one of the days of the Son of man, and you will not see it.
[23]και ερουσιν υμιν ιδου ωδε η ιδου εκει μη απελθητε μηδε διωξητε [23]And if they should say to you, Behold, he is here! and behold, he is there! do not go.
[24]ωσπερ γαρ η αστραπη η αστραπτουσα εκ της υπ ουρανον εις την υπ ουρανον λαμπει ουτως εσται ο υιος του ανθρωπου εν τη ημερα αυτου [24]For just as the lightning flashes from the sky, and all under the sky is lightened, such will be the day of the Son of man.
[25]πρωτον δε δει αυτον πολλα παθειν και αποδοκιμασθηναι απο της γενεας ταυτης [25]But first he must suffer a great many things, and be rejected by this generation.
[26]και καθως εγενετο εν ταις ημεραις νωε ουτως εσται και εν ταις ημεραις του υιου του ανθρωπου [26]Just as it happened in the days of Noah, such will it be in the days of the Son of man.
[27]ησθιον επινον εγαμουν εξεγαμιζοντο αχρι ης ημερας εισηλθεν νωε εις την κιβωτον και ηλθεν ο κατακλυσμος και απωλεσεν απαντας [27]For they were eating and drinking, and marrying women, and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed every man.
[28]ομοιως και ως εγενετο εν ταις ημεραις λωτ ησθιον επινον ηγοραζον επωλουν εφυτευον ωκοδομουν [28]And again, just as it happened in the days of Lot; they were eating and drinking, and buying and selling, and planting and building;
[29]η δε ημερα εξηλθεν λωτ απο σοδομων εβρεξεν πυρ και θειον απ ουρανου και απωλεσεν απαντας [29]But in the day when Lot went out of Sodom, the Lord sent down a rain of fire and sulphur from heaven, and destroyed them all.
[30]κατα ταυτα εσται η ημερα ο υιος του ανθρωπου αποκαλυπτεται [30]Such will it be in the day when the Son of man appears.
[31]εν εκεινη τη ημερα ος εσται επι του δωματος και τα σκευη αυτου εν τη οικια μη καταβατω αραι αυτα και ο εν τω αγρω ομοιως μη επιστρεψατω εις τα οπισω [31]In that day, he who is on the roof and his clothes in the house, will not come down to take them; and he who is in the field will not return back.
[32]μνημονευετε της γυναικος λωτ [32]Just remember Lot's wife.
[33]ος εαν ζητηση την ψυχην αυτου σωσαι απολεσει αυτην και ος εαν απολεση αυτην ζωογονησει αυτην [33]He who desires to save his life shall lose it; and he who loses his life shall save it.
[34]λεγω υμιν ταυτη τη νυκτι εσονται δυο επι κλινης μιας εις παραληφθησεται και ο ετερος αφεθησεται [34]I say to you that in that very night two will be in one bed; one will be taken away, and the other left.
[35]δυο εσονται αληθουσαι επι το αυτο μια παραληφθησεται και η ετερα αφεθησεται [35]And two women will be grinding together; one will be taken away, and the other left.
36[No verse] [36]Two will be in the field; one will be taken, and the other left.
[37]και αποκριθεντες λεγουσιν αυτω που κυριε ο δε ειπεν αυτοις οπου το σωμα εκει συναχθησονται οι αετοι [37]They answered and said to him, Our Lord, to what place? He said to them, Wherever the corpse is, there will the eagles gather.
