[1]ιησους δε πληρης πνευματος αγιου υπεστρεψεν απο του ιορδανου και ηγετο εν τω πνευματι εν τη ερημω [1]And Jesus full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
[2]ημερας τεσσερακοντα πειραζομενος υπο του διαβολου και ουκ εφαγεν ουδεν εν ταις ημεραις εκειναις και συντελεσθεισων αυτων επεινασεν [2]And was there forty days tempted of the devil, and in those days he did eat nothing: but when they were ended, he afterward was hungry.
[3]ειπεν δε αυτω ο διαβολος ει υιος ει του θεου ειπε τω λιθω τουτω ινα γενηται αρτος [3]Then the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
[4]και απεκριθη προς αυτον ο ιησους γεγραπται οτι ουκ επ αρτω μονω ζησεται ο ανθρωπος [4]But Jesus answered him, saying , It is written, That man shall not live by bread only, but by every word of God.
[5]και αναγαγων αυτον εδειξεν αυτω πασας τας βασιλειας της οικουμενης εν στιγμη χρονου [5]Then the devil took him up into an high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, in the twinkling of an eye.
[6]και ειπεν αυτω ο διαβολος σοι δωσω την εξουσιαν ταυτην απασαν και την δοξαν αυτων οτι εμοι παραδεδοται και ω εαν θελω διδωμι αυτην [6]And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of those kingdoms: for that is delivered to me: and to whomsoever I will, I give it.
[7]συ ουν εαν προσκυνησης ενωπιον εμου εσται σου πασα [7]If thou therefore wilt worship me, they shall be all thine.
[8]και αποκριθεις ο ιησους ειπεν αυτω γεγραπται κυριον τον θεον σου προσκυνησεις και αυτω μονω λατρευσεις [8]But Jesus answered him, and said, Hence from me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him alone thou shalt serve.
[9]ηγαγεν δε αυτον εις ιερουσαλημ και εστησεν επι το πτερυγιον του ιερου και ειπεν [αυτω] αυτω ει υιος ει του θεου βαλε σεαυτον εντευθεν κατω [9]Then he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the Temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence,
[10]γεγραπται γαρ οτι τοις αγγελοις αυτου εντελειται περι σου του διαφυλαξαι σε [10]For it is written, That he will give his Angels charge over thee to keep thee:
[11]και οτι επι χειρων αρουσιν σε μηποτε προσκοψης προς λιθον τον ποδα σου [11]And with their hands they shall lift thee up, lest at any time thou shouldest dash thy foot against a stone.
[12]και αποκριθεις ειπεν αυτω ο ιησους οτι ειρηται ουκ εκπειρασεις κυριον τον θεον σου [12]And Jesus answered, and said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
[13]και συντελεσας παντα πειρασμον ο διαβολος απεστη απ αυτου αχρι καιρου [13]And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.
[14]και υπεστρεψεν ο ιησους εν τη δυναμει του πνευματος εις την γαλιλαιαν και φημη εξηλθεν καθ ολης της περιχωρου περι αυτου [14] And Jesus returned by the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went a fame of him throughout all the region round about.
[15]και αυτος εδιδασκεν εν ταις συναγωγαις αυτων δοξαζομενος υπο παντων [15]For he taught in their Synagogues, and was honored of all men.
[16]και ηλθεν εις ναζαρα ου ην τεθραμμενος και εισηλθεν κατα το ειωθος αυτω εν τη ημερα των σαββατων εις την συναγωγην και ανεστη αναγνωναι [16]And he came to Nazareth where he had been brought up, and (as his custom was) went into the Synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
[17]και επεδοθη αυτω βιβλιον του προφητου ησαιου και ανοιξας αναπτυξας το βιβλιον ευρεν [τον] τον τοπον ου ην γεγραμμενον [17]And there was delivered unto him the book of the Prophet Isaiah: and when he had opened the book, he found the place, where it was written,
[18]πνευμα κυριου επ εμε ου εινεκεν εχρισεν με ευαγγελισασθαι πτωχοις απεσταλκεν με κηρυξαι αιχμαλωτοις αφεσιν και τυφλοις αναβλεψιν αποστειλαι τεθραυσμενους εν αφεσει [18]The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me, that I should preach the Gospel to the poor: he hath sent me, that I should heal the broken hearted, that I should preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, that I should set at liberty them that are bruised,
[19]κηρυξαι ενιαυτον κυριου δεκτον [19]And that I should preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
[20]και πτυξας το βιβλιον αποδους τω υπηρετη εκαθισεν και παντων οι οφθαλμοι εν τη συναγωγη ησαν ατενιζοντες αυτω [20]And he closed the book, and gave it again to the minister, and sat down: and the eyes of all that were in the Synagogue were fastened on him.
[21]ηρξατο δε λεγειν προς αυτους οτι σημερον πεπληρωται η γραφη αυτη εν τοις ωσιν υμων [21]Then he began to say unto them, This day is this Scripture fulfilled in your ears.
[22]και παντες εμαρτυρουν αυτω και εθαυμαζον επι τοις λογοις της χαριτος τοις εκπορευομενοις εκ του στοματος αυτου και ελεγον ουχι υιος εστιν ιωσηφ ουτος [22]And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words, which proceeded out of his mouth, and said, Is not this Joseph's son?
[23]και ειπεν προς αυτους παντως ερειτε μοι την παραβολην ταυτην ιατρε θεραπευσον σεαυτον οσα ηκουσαμεν γενομενα εις την καφαρναουμ ποιησον και ωδε εν τη πατριδι σου [23]Then he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do it here likewise in thine own country.
[24]ειπεν δε αμην λεγω υμιν οτι ουδεις προφητης δεκτος εστιν εν τη πατριδι αυτου [24]And he said, Verily I say unto you, No Prophet is accepted in his own country.
[25]επ αληθειας δε λεγω υμιν πολλαι χηραι ησαν εν ταις ημεραις ηλιου εν τω ισραηλ οτε εκλεισθη ο ουρανος επι ετη τρια και μηνας εξ ως εγενετο λιμος μεγας επι πασαν την γην [25]But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when heaven was shut three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land,
[26]και προς ουδεμιαν αυτων επεμφθη ηλιας ει μη εις σαρεπτα της σιδωνιας προς γυναικα χηραν [26]But unto none of them was Elijah sent, save into Zarephath, a city of Sidon, unto a certain widow.
[27]και πολλοι λεπροι ησαν εν τω ισραηλ επι ελισαιου του προφητου και ουδεις αυτων εκαθαρισθη ει μη ναιμαν ο συρος [27]Also many lepers were in Israel, in the time of Elisha the Prophet: yet none of them was made clean, saving Naaman the Syrian.
[28]και επλησθησαν παντες θυμου εν τη συναγωγη ακουοντες ταυτα [28]Then all that were in the Synagogue, when they heard it, were filled with wrath,
[29]και ανασταντες εξεβαλον αυτον εξω της πολεως και ηγαγον αυτον εως οφρυος του ορους εφ ου η πολις ωκοδομητο αυτων ωστε κατακρημνισαι αυτον [29]And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the edge of the hill, whereon their city was built, to cast him down headlong.
[30]αυτος δε διελθων δια μεσου αυτων επορευετο [30]But he passed through the midst of them, and went his way,
[31]και κατηλθεν εις καφαρναουμ πολιν της γαλιλαιας και ην διδασκων αυτους εν τοις σαββασιν [31] And came down into Capernaum a city of Galilee, and there taught them on the Sabbath days.
[32]και εξεπλησσοντο επι τη διδαχη αυτου οτι εν εξουσια ην ο λογος αυτου [32]And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with authority.
[33]και εν τη συναγωγη ην ανθρωπος εχων πνευμα δαιμονιου ακαθαρτου και ανεκραξεν φωνη μεγαλη [33]And in the Synagogue there was a man which had a spirit of an unclean devil, which cried with a loud voice,
[34]εα τι ημιν και σοι ιησου ναζαρηνε ηλθες απολεσαι ημας οιδα σε τις ει ο αγιος του θεου [34]Saying, Oh, what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know who thou art, even the Holy one of God.
[35]και επετιμησεν αυτω ο ιησους λεγων φιμωθητι και εξελθε απ αυτου και ριψαν αυτον το δαιμονιον εις το μεσον εξηλθεν απ αυτου μηδεν βλαψαν αυτον [35]And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. Then the devil throwing him in the midst of them, came out of him, and hurt him not.
[36]και εγενετο θαμβος επι παντας και συνελαλουν προς αλληλους λεγοντες τις ο λογος ουτος οτι εν εξουσια και δυναμει επιτασσει τοις ακαθαρτοις πνευμασιν και εξερχονται [36]So fear came on them all, and they spake among themselves, saying, What thing is this? for with authority and power he commandeth the foul spirits, and they come out?
[37]και εξεπορευετο ηχος περι αυτου εις παντα τοπον της περιχωρου [37]And the fame of him spread abroad throughout all the places of the country round about.
[38]αναστας δε απο της συναγωγης εισηλθεν εις την οικιαν σιμωνος πενθερα δε του σιμωνος ην συνεχομενη πυρετω μεγαλω και ηρωτησαν αυτον περι αυτης [38] And he rose up, and came out of the Synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever, and they required him for her.
[39]και επιστας επανω αυτης επετιμησεν τω πυρετω και αφηκεν αυτην παραχρημα δε αναστασα διηκονει αυτοις [39]Then he stood over her, and rebuked the fever, and it left her: and immediately she arose, and ministered unto them.
[40]δυνοντος δε του ηλιου απαντες οσοι ειχον ασθενουντας νοσοις ποικιλαις ηγαγον αυτους προς αυτον ο δε ενι εκαστω αυτων τας χειρας επιτιθεις εθεραπευεν αυτους [40]Now when the sun was down, all they that had sick folks of diverse diseases, brought them unto him, and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
[41]εξηρχετο δε και δαιμονια απο πολλων κραζοντα <κραυγαζοντα> και λεγοντα οτι συ ει ο υιος του θεου και επιτιμων ουκ εια αυτα λαλειν οτι ηδεισαν τον χριστον αυτον ειναι [41]And devils also came out of many, crying, and saying, Thou art the Christ the Son of God: but he rebuked them, and suffered them not to say that they knew him to be the Christ.
[42]γενομενης δε ημερας εξελθων επορευθη εις ερημον τοπον και οι οχλοι επεζητουν αυτον και ηλθον εως αυτου και κατειχον αυτον του μη πορευεσθαι απ αυτων [42]And when it was day, he departed and went forth into a desert place, and the people sought him, and came to him, and kept him that he should not depart from them.
[43]ο δε ειπεν προς αυτους οτι και ταις ετεραις πολεσιν ευαγγελισασθαι με δει την βασιλειαν του θεου οτι επι τουτο απεσταλην [43]But he said unto them, Surely I must also preach the kingdom of God to other cities: for therefore am I sent.
[44]και ην κηρυσσων εις τας συναγωγας της ιουδαιας [44]And he preached in the Synagogues of Galilee.
