[1]And it occurred, that a multitude gathered about him, to hear the word of God. And he was standing by the side of the sea of Gennesaret, |
[1]AndG1161 it came to passG1096[G5633], that, asG1722 the peopleG3793 pressed uponG1945[G5738] himG846 to hearG191[G5721] the wordG3056 of GodG2316,[G2532] heG846 stoodG2258[G5713][G2476][G5761] byG3844 the lakeG3041 of GennesaretG1082, |
[2]and he saw two ships standing near the sea, and the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. |
[2]AndG2532 sawG1492[G5627] twoG1417 shipsG4143 standingG2476[G5761] byG3844 the lakeG3041: butG1161 the fishermenG231 were goneG576[G5631] out ofG575 themG846, and were washingG637[G5656] their netsG1350. |
[3]And one of them belonged to Simon Cephas: and Jesus entered and sat in it. And he told them to draw off a little from the shore, into the sea: and he seated himself, and taught the multitude from the ship. |
[3]AndG1161 he enteredG1684[G5631] intoG1519 oneG1520 of the shipsG4143, whichG3739 wasG2258[G5713] Simon'sG4613, and prayedG2065[G5656] himG846 that he would thrust outG1877[G5629] a littleG3641 fromG575 the landG1093. AndG2532 he sat downG2523[G5660], and taughtG1321[G5707] the peopleG3793 out ofG1537 the shipG4143. |
[4]And when he ceased from speaking, he said to Simon: Launch out into the deep, and cast your net for a draught. |
[4]NowG1161 whenG5613 he had leftG3973[G5668] speakingG2980[G5723], he saidG2036[G5627] untoG4314 SimonG4613, Launch outG1877[G5628] intoG1519 the deepG899, andG2532 let downG5465[G5657] yourG5216 netsG1350 forG1519 a draughtG61. |
[5]Simon answered, and said to him: Rabbi, all the night we have toiled, and have caught nothing: but, at thy bidding, I will cast the net. |
[5]AndG2532 SimonG4613 answeringG611[G5679] saidG2036[G5627] unto himG846, MasterG1988, we have toiledG2872[G5660] allG3650[G1223] the nightG3571, and have takenG2983[G5627] nothingG3762: neverthelessG1161 atG1909 thyG4675 wordG4487 I will let downG5465[G5692] the netG1350. |
[6]And when they had done so, they inclosed very many fishes, so that the net was rent. |
[6]AndG2532 when they hadG4160 thisG5124 doneG4160[G5660], they inclosedG4788[G5656] a greatG4183 multitudeG4128 of fishesG2486: andG1161 theirG846 netG1350 brakeG1284.[G5712] |
[7]And they made signs to their associates, in the other ship, to come and help them. And when they came, they filled both the ships, so that they were near to sinking. |
[7]AndG2532 they beckonedG2656[G5656] unto their partnersG3353, whichG3588 were inG1722 the otherG2087 shipG4143, that they should comeG2064[G5631] and helpG4815[G5641] themG846. AndG2532 they cameG2064[G5627], andG2532 filledG4130[G5656] bothG297 the shipsG4143, soG5620 that theyG846 began to sinkG1036.[G5745] |
[8]And when Simon Cephas saw [it], he fell before the feet of Jesus, and said to him: I beseech thee, my Lord, that thou leave me, for I am a sinful man. |
[8]WhenG1161 SimonG4613 PeterG4074 sawG1492[G5631] it, he fell down atG4363[G5627] Jesus'G2424 kneesG1119, sayingG3004[G5723], DepartG1831[G5628] fromG575 meG1700; forG3754 I amG1510[G5748] a sinfulG268 manG435, O LordG2962. |
[9]For astonishment had seized him, and all that were with him, at the draught of fishes which they had caught: |
[9]ForG1063 heG846 was astonishedG4023[G5627][G2285], andG2532 allG3956 that wereG4862 with himG846, atG1909 the draughtG61 of the fishesG2486 whichG3739 they had takenG4815:[G5627] |
[10]and in like manner also James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners of Simon. But Jesus said: Fear thou not; henceforth thou shalt catch men unto life. |
[10]AndG1161 soG3668 was alsoG2532 JamesG2385, andG2532 JohnG2491, the sonsG5207 of ZebedeeG2199, whichG3739 wereG2258[G5713] partnersG2844 with SimonG4613. AndG2532 JesusG2424 saidG2036[G5627] untoG4314 SimonG4613, FearG5399[G5737] notG3361; fromG575 henceforthG3568 thou shaltG2071[G5704] catchG2221[G5723] menG444. |
[11]And they brought the vessels to the land: and they left all and followed him. |
[11]AndG2532 when they had broughtG2609[G5631] their shipsG4143 toG1909 landG1093, they forsookG863[G5631] allG537, and followedG190[G5656] himG846. |
[12]And when Jesus was in one of the cities, a man came all full of leprosy and seeing Jesus, he fell upon his face, and besought him, and said to him: My Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst cleanse me. |
[12]AndG2532 it came to passG1096[G5633], when heG846 wasG1511[G5750][G1722] inG1722 a certainG3391 cityG4172,[G2532] beholdG2400[G5628] a manG435 fullG4134 of leprosyG3014: whoG2532 seeingG1492[G5631] JesusG2424 fellG4098[G5631] onG1909 his faceG4383, and besoughtG1189[G5681] himG846, sayingG3004[G5723], LordG2962, ifG1437 thou wiltG2309[G5725], thou canstG1410[G5736] makeG2511 meG3165 cleanG2511.[G5658] |
[13]And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, and said to him: I will [it]; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy went from him. |
[13]AndG2532 he put forthG1614[G5660] his handG5495, and touchedG680[G5662] himG846, sayingG2036[G5631], I willG2309[G5719]: be thou cleanG2511[G5682]. AndG2532 immediatelyG2112 the leprosyG3014 departedG565[G5627] fromG575 himG846. |
[14]And he charged him: Speak to no one; but go and show thyself to the priests, and offer the oblation for thy purification, as Moses hath commanded, for a testimony to them. |
[14]AndG2532 heG846 chargedG3853[G5656] himG846 to tellG2036[G5629] no manG3367: butG235 goG565[G5631], and shewG1166[G5657] thyselfG4572 to the priestG2409, andG2532 offerG4374[G5628] forG4012 thyG4675 cleansingG2512, according asG2531 MosesG3475 commandedG4367[G5656], forG1519 a testimonyG3142 unto themG846. |
[15]And his fame spread abroad still more: and much people assembled to hear him, and to be cured of their diseases. |
[15]ButG1161 so much the moreG3123 went thereG1330 a fameG3056 abroadG1330[G5711] ofG4012 himG846: andG2532 greatG4183 multitudesG3793 came togetherG4905[G5711] to hearG191[G5721], andG2532 to be healedG2323[G5745] byG5259 himG846 ofG575 theirG846 infirmitiesG769. |
[16]And he retired into a desert, and prayed. |
[16]AndG1161 he withdrewG2258[G5713][G5298][G5723] himselfG846 intoG1722 the wildernessG2048, andG2532 prayedG4336.[G5740] |
[17]And it occurred, on one of the days when Jesus was teaching, that Pharisees and Doctors of the law were sitting by, who had come from all the villages of Galilee and of Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them. |
[17]AndG2532 it came to passG1096[G5633] onG1722 a certainG3391 dayG2250, asG2532 heG846 wasG2258[G5713] teachingG1321[G5723], thatG2532 there wereG2258[G5713] PhariseesG5330 andG2532 doctors of the lawG3547 sitting byG2521[G5740], whichG3739 wereG2258[G5713] comeG2064[G5756] out ofG1537 everyG3956 townG2968 of GalileeG1056, andG2532 JudaeaG2449, andG2532 JerusalemG2419: andG2532 the powerG1411 of the LordG2962 wasG2258[G5713] present toG1519 healG2390[G5738] themG846. |
[18]And some persons brought a paralytic man, on a couch, and sought to bring him in, and to place him before him. |
[18]AndG2532, beholdG2400[G5628], menG435 broughtG5342[G5723] inG1909 a bedG2825 a manG444 whichG3739 wasG2258[G5713] taken with a palsyG3886[G5772]: andG2532 they soughtG2212[G5707] means to bringG1533 himG846 inG1533[G5629], andG2532 to layG5087[G5629] him beforeG1799 himG846. |
[19]And when they could not thus introduce him, because of the multitude of the people, they ascended to the roof, and let him down with the couch, from the covering, into the midst, before Jesus. |
[19]AndG2532 when they couldG2147 notG3361 findG2147[G5631] byG1223 whatG4169 way they might bringG1533 himG846 inG1533[G5632] becauseG1223 of the multitudeG3793, they wentG305[G5631] uponG1909 the housetopG1430, and letG2524 himG846 downG2524[G5656] throughG1223 the tilingG2766 withG4862 his couchG2826 intoG1519 the midstG3319 beforeG1715 JesusG2424. |
[20]And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic: Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. |
[20]AndG2532 when he sawG1492[G5631] theirG846 faithG4102, he saidG2036[G5627] unto himG846, ManG444, thyG4675 sinsG266 are forgivenG863[G5769] theeG4671. |
[21]And the Scribes and Pharisees began to reason, and to say: Who is this that speaketh blasphemy? Who can forgive sins, but God only? |
[21]AndG2532 the scribesG1122 andG2532 the PhariseesG5330 beganG756[G5662] to reasonG1260[G5738], sayingG3004[G5723], WhoG5101 isG2076[G5748] thisG3778 whichG3739 speakethG2980[G5719] blasphemiesG988? WhoG5101 canG1410[G5736] forgiveG863[G5721] sinsG266, butG1508 GodG2316 aloneG3441? |
[22]And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: What think ye in your heart? |
[22]ButG1161 when JesusG2424 perceivedG1921[G5631] theirG846 thoughtsG1261, he answeringG611[G5679] saidG2036[G5627] untoG4314 themG846, WhatG5101 reason yeG1260[G5736] inG1722 yourG5216 heartsG2588? |
[23]Which is the easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee, or to say, Arise and walk? |
[23]WhetherG5101 isG2076[G5748] easierG2123, to sayG2036[G5629], ThyG4675 sinsG266 be forgivenG863[G5769] theeG4671; orG2228 to sayG2036[G5629], Rise upG1453[G5669] andG2532 walkG4043?[G5720] |
[24]But that ye may know, that the Son of man is competent to forgive sins on the earth, he said to the paralytic: I say to thee, Arise, take up thy couch, and go to thy home. |
[24]ButG1161 thatG2443 ye may knowG1492[G5762] thatG3754 the SonG5207 of manG444 hathG2192[G5719] powerG1849 uponG1909 earthG1093 to forgiveG863[G5721] sinsG266, (heG266 saidG2036[G5627] unto the sick of the palsyG3886[G5772],) I sayG3004[G5719] unto theeG4671, AriseG1453[G5669], andG2532 take upG142[G5660] thyG4675 couchG2826, and goG4198[G5737] intoG1519 thineG4675 houseG3624. |
[25]And instantly, he rose up before their eyes, and took up his couch, and went home, glorifying God. |
[25]AndG2532 immediatelyG3916 he rose upG450[G5631] beforeG1799 themG846, and took upG142[G5660] that whereonG1909[G3739] he layG2621[G5711], and departedG565[G5627] toG1519 his ownG846 houseG3624, glorifyingG1392[G5723] GodG2316. |
[26]And astonishment seized every one; and they Praised God; and they were filled with awe, and said: We have seen wonders today. |
[26]AndG2532 they wereG2983[G5627] allG537 amazedG1611, andG2532 they glorifiedG1392[G5707] GodG2316, andG2532 were filledG4130[G5681] with fearG5401, sayingG3004[G5723],[G3754] We have seenG1492[G5627] strange thingsG3861 to dayG4594. |
[27]And after these things, Jesus went out and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting among the publicans; and he said to him: Come after me. |
[27]AndG2532 afterG3326 these thingsG5023 he went forthG1831[G5627], andG2532 sawG2300[G5662] a publicanG5057, namedG3686 LeviG3018, sittingG2521[G5740] atG1909 the receipt of customG5058: andG2532 he saidG2036[G5627] unto himG846, FollowG190[G5720] meG3427. |
[28]And he left every thing, and arose, and went after him. |
[28]AndG2532 he leftG2641[G5631] allG537, rose upG450[G5631], and followedG190[G5656] himG846. |
[29]And Levi made a great entertainment for him at his house; and there was a numerous company of publicans and others who reclined with them. |
[29]AndG2532 LeviG3018 madeG4160[G5656] himG846 a greatG3173 feastG1403 inG1722 his ownG846 houseG3614: andG2532 there wasG2258[G5713] a greatG4183 companyG3793 of publicansG5057 andG2532 of othersG243 thatG3739 sat downG2258[G5713][G2621][G5740] withG3326 themG846. |
[30]And the Scribes and Pharisees murmured, and said to his disciples: Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners? |
[30]ButG2532 theirG846 scribesG1122 andG2532 PhariseesG5330 murmuredG1111[G5707] againstG4314 hisG846 disciplesG3101, sayingG3004[G5723], WhyG1302 do ye eatG2068[G5719] andG2532 drinkG4095[G5719] withG3326 publicansG5057 andG2532 sinnersG268? |
[31]And Jesus answered and said to them: A physician is not sought after for the well, but for those very sick. |
[31]AndG2532 JesusG2424 answeringG611[G5679] saidG2036[G5627] untoG4314 themG846, They that are wholeG5198[G5723] needG5532[G2192][G5719] notG3756 a physicianG2395; butG235 they that areG2192[G5723] sickG2560. |
[32]I came not to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance. |
[32]I cameG2064[G5754] notG3756 to callG2564[G5658] the righteousG1342, butG235 sinnersG268 toG1519 repentanceG3341. |
[33]And they said to him: Why do the disciples of John fast often, and pray, and also [those] of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink? |
[33]AndG1161 they saidG2036[G5627] untoG4314 himG846, WhyG1302 doG3522 the disciplesG3101 of JohnG2491 fastG3522[G5719] oftenG4437, andG2532 makeG4160[G5731] prayersG1162, andG2532 likewiseG3668 the disciplesG3588 of the PhariseesG5330; butG1161 thineG4674 eatG2068[G5719] andG2532 drinkG4095?[G5719] |
[34]And he said to them: Ye cannot make the guests of the nuptial chamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them. |
[34]AndG1161 he saidG2036[G5627] untoG4314 themG846,[G3361] Can yeG1410[G5736] makeG4160[G5658] the childrenG5207 of the bridechamberG3567 fastG3522[G5721], whileG3739[G1722] the bridegroomG3566 isG2076[G5748] withG3326 themG846? |
[35]But the days will come, when the bridegroom will be taken up from them, and then will they fast, in those days. |
[35]ButG1161 the daysG2250 will comeG2064[G5695], whenG3752[G2532] the bridegroomG3566 shall be taken awayG522[G5686] fromG575 themG846, and thenG5119 shall they fastG3522[G5692] inG1722 thoseG1565 daysG2250. |
[36]And he spoke a similitude to them: No one teareth a patch from a new garment, and putteth it to an old garment; lest he tear the new, and the patch from the new cease to make the old [garment] whole. |
[36]AndG1161 he spakeG3004[G5707] alsoG2532 a parableG3850 untoG4314 themG846;[G3754] No manG3762 puttethG1911[G5719] a pieceG1915 of a newG2537 garmentG2440 uponG1909 an oldG2440[G3820]; if otherwise, thenG1490 bothG2532 the newG2537 maketh a rentG4977[G5719], andG2532 the pieceG1915 that was taken out ofG575 the newG2537 agreethG4856[G5719] notG3756 with the oldG3820. |
[37]And no one putteth new wine into old sacks; otherwise, the new wine will burst the sacks, and the wine will run out, and the sacks be ruined. |
[37]AndG2532 no manG3762 puttethG906[G5719] newG3501 wineG3631 intoG1519 oldG3820 bottlesG779; elseG1490 the newG3501 wineG3631 will burstG4486[G5692] the bottlesG779, andG2532[G846] be spilledG1632[G5701], andG2532 the bottlesG779 shall perishG622.[G5698] |
[38]But they put new wine into new sacks, and both are preserved. |
[38]ButG235 newG3501 wineG3631 must be putG992 intoG1519 newG2537 bottlesG779; andG2532 bothG297 are preservedG4933.[G5743] |
[39]And no one drinketh old wine, and immediately calleth for new; for he saith, The old is the delicious. |
[39]No manG3762 alsoG2532 having drunkG4095[G5631] oldG3820 wine straightwayG2112 desirethG2309[G5719] newG3501: forG1063 he saithG3004[G5719], The oldG3820 isG2076[G5748] betterG5543. |
