| [1]PAUL and Timothy, servants of Jesus the Messiah, to all the saints that are in Jesus the Messiah at Philippi, with the elders and deacons. |
[1]παυλος και τιμοθεος δουλοι χριστου ιησου πασιν τοις αγιοις εν χριστω ιησου τοις ουσιν εν φιλιπποις συν επισκοποις και διακονοις |
| [2]Grace be with you, and peace from God our Father, and from our Lord Jesus the Messiah. |
[2]χαρις υμιν και ειρηνη απο θεου πατρος ημων και κυριου ιησου χριστου |
| [3]I thank my God at the constant recollection of you, |
[3]ευχαριστω τω θεω μου επι παση τη μνεια υμων |
| [4]in all my prayers respecting you; and while I rejoice, I adore; |
[4]παντοτε εν παση δεησει μου υπερ παντων υμων μετα χαρας την δεησιν ποιουμενος |
| [5]on account of your fellowship in the gospel, from the first day until now. |
[5]επι τη κοινωνια υμων εις το ευαγγελιον απο της πρωτης ημερας αχρι του νυν |
| [6]Because I am confident of this, that he who hath begun the good works in you, will accomplish them until the day of our Lord Jesus the Messiah. |
[6]πεποιθως αυτο τουτο οτι ο εναρξαμενος εν υμιν εργον αγαθον επιτελεσει αχρις ημερας ιησου χριστου χριστου ιησου |
| [7]For thus it is right for me to think of you all, because ye are permanently in my heart, and because, both in my bonds and in the vindication of the truth of the gospel, ye are my associates in grace. |
[7]καθως εστιν δικαιον εμοι τουτο φρονειν υπερ παντων υμων δια το εχειν με εν τη καρδια υμας εν τε τοις δεσμοις μου και εν τη απολογια και βεβαιωσει του ευαγγελιου συγκοινωνους μου της χαριτος παντας υμας οντας |
| [8]For God is my witness, how I love you in the bowels of Jesus the Messiah. |
[8]μαρτυς γαρ μου ο θεος ως επιποθω παντας υμας εν σπλαγχνοις χριστου ιησου |
| [9]And this I pray for, that your love may still increase and abound, in knowledge, and In all spiritual understanding: |
[9]και τουτο προσευχομαι ινα η αγαπη υμων ετι μαλλον και μαλλον περισσευη εν επιγνωσει και παση αισθησει |
| [10]so that ye may discern the things that are suitable; and may be pure and without offence, in the day of the Messiah, |
[10]εις το δοκιμαζειν υμας τα διαφεροντα ινα ητε ειλικρινεις και απροσκοποι εις ημεραν χριστου |
| [11]and be full of the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus the Messiah, to the praise and glory of God. |
[11]πεπληρωμενοι καρπον δικαιοσυνης τον δια ιησου χριστου εις δοξαν και επαινον θεου |
| [12]And I would that ye might know, my brethren, that the transaction in regard to me, hath eventuated rather for the furtherance of the gospel; |
[12]γινωσκειν δε υμας βουλομαι αδελφοι οτι τα κατ εμε μαλλον εις προκοπην του ευαγγελιου εληλυθεν |
| [13]so that my bonds, on account of the Messiah, are matter of notoriety in all the court, and to all others. |
[13]ωστε τους δεσμους μου φανερους εν χριστω γενεσθαι εν ολω τω πραιτωριω και τοις λοιποις πασιν |
| [14]And many of the brethren in our Lord have become confident, on account of my bonds, and are more bold to speak the word of God without fear. |
[14]και τους πλειονας των αδελφων εν κυριω πεποιθοτας τοις δεσμοις μου περισσοτερως τολμαν αφοβως τον λογον του θεου λαλειν |
| [15]And they herald [it], some from envy and contention; but others with good will, and with love for the Messiah; |
[15]τινες μεν και δια φθονον και εριν τινες δε και δι ευδοκιαν τον χριστον κηρυσσουσιν |
| [16]because they know that I am appointed for the vindication of the gospel. |
[16]οι μεν εξ αγαπης ειδοτες οτι εις απολογιαν του ευαγγελιου κειμαι |
| [17]And they who herald the Messiah in contention, do it not sincerely; but they hope to add pressure to my bonds. |
[17]οι δε εξ εριθειας τον χριστον καταγγελλουσιν ουχ αγνως οιομενοι θλιψιν εγειρειν τοις δεσμοις μου |
| [18]And in this I have rejoiced, and do rejoice, that in every form, whether in pretence or in truth, the Messiah is heralded. |
[18]τι γαρ πλην οτι παντι τροπω ειτε προφασει ειτε αληθεια χριστος καταγγελλεται και εν τουτω χαιρω αλλα και χαρησομαι |
| [19]For I know, that these things will be found [conducive] to my life, through your prayers and the gift of the Spirit of Jesus the Messiah. |
[19]οιδα γαρ οτι τουτο μοι αποβησεται εις σωτηριαν δια της υμων δεησεως και επιχορηγιας του πνευματος ιησου χριστου |
| [20]So that I hope and expect, that I shall in nothing be put to shame; but with uncovered face, as at all times, so now, the Messiah will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. |
[20]κατα την αποκαραδοκιαν και ελπιδα μου οτι εν ουδενι αισχυνθησομαι αλλ εν παση παρρησια ως παντοτε και νυν μεγαλυνθησεται χριστος εν τω σωματι μου ειτε δια ζωης ειτε δια θανατου |
| [21]For my life is, the Messiah; and if I die, it is gain to me. |
[21]εμοι γαρ το ζην χριστος και το αποθανειν κερδος |
| [22]But if I have fruits of my labors in this life of the flesh, I know not what I shall choose. |
[22]ει δε το ζην εν σαρκι τουτο μοι καρπος εργου και τι αιρησομαι ου γνωριζω |
| [23]For the two press upon me: I desire to be liberated, that I may be with the Messiah; and this would be very advantageous to me. |
[23]συνεχομαι δε εκ των δυο την επιθυμιαν εχων εις το αναλυσαι και συν χριστω ειναι πολλω γαρ [γαρ] μαλλον κρεισσον |
| [24]But also the business in regard to you, urges upon me to remain in the body. |
[24]το δε επιμενειν [εν] τη σαρκι αναγκαιοτερον δι υμας |
| [25]And this I confidently know, that I shall continue and remain, for your joy, and for the furtherance of your faith; |
[25]και τουτο πεποιθως οιδα οτι μενω και παραμενω πασιν υμιν εις την υμων προκοπην και χαραν της πιστεως |
| [26]so that when I come again to you, your glorying, which is in Jesus the Messiah only, will abound through me. |
[26]ινα το καυχημα υμων περισσευη εν χριστω ιησου εν εμοι δια της εμης παρουσιας παλιν προς υμας |
| [27]Let your conduct be as becometh the gospel of the Messiah; so that if I come I may see you, and if absent I may hear of you, that ye stand fast in one spirit and in one soul, and that ye strive together in the faith of the gospel. |
[27]μονον αξιως του ευαγγελιου του χριστου πολιτευεσθε ινα ειτε ελθων και ιδων υμας ειτε απων ακουω τα περι υμων οτι στηκετε εν ενι πνευματι μια ψυχη συναθλουντες τη πιστει του ευαγγελιου |
| [28]And in nothing be ye startled, by those who rise up against us; [which is] an indication of their destruction, and of life for you. |
[28]και μη πτυρομενοι εν μηδενι υπο των αντικειμενων ητις εστιν αυτοις ενδειξις απωλειας υμων δε σωτηριας και τουτο απο θεου |
| [29]And this is given to you by God, that ye not only really believe in the Messiah, but also that ye suffer on his account; |
[29]οτι υμιν εχαρισθη το υπερ χριστου ου μονον το εις αυτον πιστευειν αλλα και το υπερ αυτου πασχειν |
| [30]and that ye endure conflict, as ye have seen in me, and now hear concerning me. |
[30]τον αυτον αγωνα εχοντες οιον ειδετε εν εμοι και νυν ακουετε εν εμοι |
