| [1]HearH8085[H8798] this wordH1697 that the LORDH3068 hath spokenH1696[H8765] against you, O childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, against the whole familyH4940 which I brought upH5927[H8689] from the landH776 of EgyptH4714, sayingH559,[H8800] |
[1]Hear this word that the Lord pronounceth against you, O children of Israel, even against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying, |
| [2]You only have I knownH3045[H8804] of all the familiesH4940 of the earthH127: therefore I will punishH6485[H8799] you for all your iniquitiesH5771. |
[2]You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will visit you for all your iniquities. |
| [3]Can twoH8147 walkH3212[H8799] togetherH3162, exceptH1115 they be agreedH3259?[H8738] |
[3]Can two walk together except they be agreed? |
| [4]Will a lionH738 roarH7580[H8799] in the forestH3293, when he hath no preyH2964? will a young lionH3715 cry outH5414[H8799][H6963] of his denH4585, if he have takenH3920[H8804] nothingH1115? |
[4]Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? Or will a lion's whelp cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing? |
| [5]Can a birdH6833 fallH5307[H8799] in a snareH6341 upon the earthH776, where no ginH4170 is for him? shall one take upH5927[H8799] a snareH6341 from the earthH127, and have takenH3920[H8799] nothing at allH3920?[H8800] |
[5]Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no fowler is? Or will he take up the snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all? |
| [6]Shall a trumpetH7782 be blownH8628[H8735] in the cityH5892, and the peopleH5971 not be afraidH2729[H8799]? shall there be evilH7451 in a cityH5892, and the LORDH3068 hath not doneH6213 itH8804? |
[6]Or shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people be not afraid? Or shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it? |
| [7]Surely the LordH136 GODH3069 will doH6213[H8799] nothingH1697, but he revealethH1540[H8804] his secretH5475 unto his servantsH5650 the prophetsH5030. |
[7]Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. |
| [8]The lionH738 hath roaredH7580[H8804], who will notH3808 fearH3372[H8799]? the LordH136 GODH3069 hath spokenH1696[H8765], who can but prophesyH5012?[H8735] |
[8]The lion hath roared: who will not be afraid? The Lord God hath spoken: who can but prophesy? |
| [9]PublishH8085[H8685] in the palacesH759 at AshdodH795, and in the palacesH759 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and sayH559[H8798], AssembleH622[H8734] yourselves upon the mountainsH2022 of SamariaH8111, and beholdH7200[H8798] the greatH7227 tumultsH4103 in the midstH7130 thereof, and the oppressedH6217 in the midst thereofH8432. |
[9]Proclaim in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria: so behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof. |
| [10]For they knowH3045[H8804] not to doH6213[H8800] rightH5229, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068, who storeH686[H8802] up violenceH2555 and robberyH7701 in their palacesH759. |
[10]For they know not to do right, saith the Lord: they store up violence, and robbery in their palaces. |
| [11]Therefore thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; An adversaryH6862 there shall be even round aboutH5439 the landH776; and he shall bring downH3381[H8689] thy strengthH5797 from thee, and thy palacesH759 shall be spoiledH962.[H8738] |
[11]Therefore thus saith the Lord God, An adversary shall come even round about the country, and shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled. |
| [12]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068; As the shepherdH7462[H8802] taketh outH5337[H8686] of the mouthH6310 of the lionH738 twoH8147 legsH3767, or a pieceH915 of an earH241; so shall the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 be taken outH5337[H8735] that dwellH3427[H8802] in SamariaH8111 in the cornerH6285 of a bedH4296, and in DamascusH1833 in a couchH6210. |
[12]Thus saith the Lord, As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear: so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus, as in a couch. |
| [13]HearH8085[H8798] ye, and testifyH5749[H8685] in the houseH1004 of JacobH3290, saithH5002[H8803] the LordH136 GODH3069, the GodH430 of hostsH6635, |
[13]Hear, and testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord God, the God of hosts. |
| [14]That in the dayH3117 that I shall visitH6485[H8800] the transgressionsH6588 of IsraelH3478 upon him I will also visitH6485[H8804] the altarsH4196 of BethelH1008: and the hornsH7161 of the altarH4196 shall be cut offH1438[H8738], and fallH5307[H8804] to the groundH776. |
[14]Surely in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him, I will also visit the altars of Beth-el, and the horns of the altar shall be broken off, and fall to the ground. |
| [15]And I will smiteH5221[H8689] the winterH2779 houseH1004 with the summerH7019 houseH1004; and the housesH1004 of ivoryH8127 shall perishH6[H8804], and the greatH7227 housesH1004 shall have an endH5486[H8804], saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068. |
[15]And I will smite the winter house with the summer house, and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall be consumed, saith the Lord. |
