| [1]And this is the blessingH1293, wherewith MosesH4872 the manH376 of GodH430 blessedH1288[H8765] the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 beforeH6440 his deathH4194. |
[1]Now this is the blessing wherewith Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death, and said, |
| [2]And he saidH559[H8799], The LORDH3068 cameH935[H8804] from SinaiH5514, and rose upH2224[H8804] from SeirH8165 unto them; he shined forthH3313[H8689] from mountH2022 ParanH6290, and he cameH857[H8804] with ten thousandsH7233 of saintsH6944: from his right handH3225 went a fieryH799[H8676][H784] law for themH1881. |
[2]The Lord came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them, and appeared clearly from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of Saints, and at his right hand a fiery law for them. |
| [3]YeaH637, he lovedH2245[H8801] the peopleH5971; all his saintsH6918 are in thy handH3027: and they sat downH8497[H8795] at thy feetH7272; every one shall receiveH5375[H8799] of thy wordsH1703. |
[3]Though he love the people, yet all thy saints are in thine hands: and they are humbled at thy feet, to receive thy words. |
| [4]MosesH4872 commandedH6680[H8765] us a lawH8451, even the inheritanceH4181 of the congregationH6952 of JacobH3290. |
[4]Moses commanded us a law for an inheritance of the congregation of Jacob. |
| [5]And he was kingH4428 in JeshurunH3484, when the headsH7218 of the peopleH5971 and the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478 were gatheredH622[H8692] togetherH3162. |
[5]Then he was among the righteous people, as king, when the heads of the people, and the tribes of Israel were assembled. |
| [6]Let ReubenH7205 liveH2421[H8799], and not dieH4191[H8799]; and let not his menH4962 be fewH4557. |
[6]Let Reuben live, and not die, though his men be a small number. |
| [7]And this is the blessing of JudahH3063: and he saidH559[H8799], HearH8085[H8798], LORDH3068, the voiceH6963 of JudahH3063, and bringH935[H8686] him unto his peopleH5971: let his handsH3027 be sufficientH7227 for him; and be thou an helpH5828 to him from his enemiesH6862. |
[7]And thus he blessed Judah, and said, Hear, O Lord, the voice of Judah, and bring him unto his people: his hands shall be sufficient for him, if thou help him against his enemies. |
| [8]And of LeviH3878 he saidH559[H8804], Let thy ThummimH8550 and thy UrimH224 be with thy holyH2623 oneH376, whom thou didst proveH5254[H8765] at MassahH4532, and with whom thou didst striveH7378[H8799] at the watersH4325 of MeribahH4809; |
[8]And of Levi he said, Let thy Thummim and thine Urim be with thine Holy One, whom thou didst prove in Massah, and didst cause him to strive at the waters of Meribah. |
| [9]Who saidH559[H8802] unto his fatherH1 and to his motherH517, I have not seenH7200[H8804] him; neither did he acknowledgeH5234[H8689] his brethrenH251, nor knewH3045[H8804] his own childrenH1121: for they have observedH8104[H8804] thy wordH565, and keptH5341[H8799] thy covenantH1285. |
[9]Who said unto his father and to his mother, I have not seen him, neither knew he his brethren, nor knew his own children: for they observed thy word, and kept thy covenant. |
| [10]They shall teachH3384[H8686] JacobH3290 thy judgmentsH4941, and IsraelH3478 thy lawH8451: they shall putH7760[H8799] incenseH6988 beforeH639 thee, and whole burnt sacrificeH3632 upon thine altarH4196. |
[10]They shall teach Jacob thy judgments, and Israel thy law: they shall put incense before thy face, and the burnt offering upon thine altar. |
| [11]BlessH1288[H8761], LORDH3068, his substanceH2428, and acceptH7521[H8799] the workH6467 of his handsH3027: smiteH4272[H8798] through the loinsH4975 of them that riseH6965[H8801] against him, and of them that hateH8130[H8764] him, that they riseH6965 notH4480 againH6965.[H8799] |
[11]Bless, O Lord, his substance, and accept the work of his hands: smite through the loins of them that rise against him, and of them that hate him, that they rise not again. |
| [12]And of BenjaminH1144 he saidH559[H8804], The belovedH3039 of the LORDH3068 shall dwellH7931[H8799] in safetyH983 by him; and the LORD shall coverH2653[H8802] him all the dayH3117 long, and he shall dwellH7931[H8804] between his shouldersH3802. |
[12]Of Benjamin he said, The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by him: the Lord shall cover him all the day long, and dwell between his shoulders. |
| [13]And of JosephH3130 he saidH559[H8804], BlessedH1288[H8794] of the LORDH3068 be his landH776, for the precious thingsH4022 of heavenH8064, for the dewH2919, and for the deepH8415 H7257that coucheth beneathH8802 |
[13]And of Joseph he said, Blessed of the Lord is his land for the sweetness of heaven, for the dew, and for the depth lying beneath, |
| [14]And for the preciousH4022 fruitsH8393 brought forth by the sunH8121, and for the precious thingsH4022 put forthH1645 by the moonH3391, |
[14]And for the sweet increase of the sun, and for the sweet increase of the moon, |
| [15]And for the chief thingsH7218 of the ancientH6924 mountainsH2042, and for the precious thingsH4022 of the lastingH5769 hillsH1389, |
[15]And for the sweetness of the top of the ancient mountains, and for the sweetness of the old hills, |
| [16]And for the precious thingsH4022 of the earthH776 and fulnessH4393 thereof, and for the good willH7522 of him that dweltH7931[H8802] in the bushH5572: let the blessing comeH935[H8799] upon the headH7218 of JosephH3130, and upon the top of the headH6936 of him that was separatedH5139 from his brethrenH251. |
[16]And for the sweetness of the earth, and abundance thereof: and the good will of him that dwelt in the bush, shall come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren. |
| [17]His gloryH1926 is like the firstlingH1060 of his bullockH7794, and his hornsH7161 are like the hornsH7161 of unicornsH7214: with them he shall pushH5055[H8762] the peopleH5971 togetherH3162 to the endsH657 of the earthH776: and they are the ten thousandsH7233 of EphraimH669, and they are the thousandsH505 of ManassehH4519. |
[17]His beauty shall be like his firstborn bullock, and his horns as the horns of an unicorn: with them he shall smite the people together, even the ends of the world: these are also the ten thousands of Ephraim, and these are the thousands of Manasseh. |
| [18]And of ZebulunH2074 he saidH559[H8804], RejoiceH8055[H8798], ZebulunH2074, in thy going outH3318[H8800]; and, IssacharH3485, in thy tentsH168. |
[18]And of Zebulun he said, Rejoice, Zebulun, in thy going out, and thou Isshachar in thy tents. |
| [19]They shall callH7121[H8799] the peopleH5971 unto the mountainH2022; there they shall offerH2076[H8799] sacrificesH2077 of righteousnessH6664: for they shall suckH3243[H8799] of the abundanceH8228 of the seasH3220, and of treasuresH8226[H8803] hidH2934[H8803] in the sandH2344. |
[19]They shall call the people unto the mountain: there they shall offer the sacrifices of righteousness: for they shall suck of the abundance of the sea, and of the treasures hid in the sand. |
| [20]And of GadH1410 he saidH559[H8804], BlessedH1288[H8803] be he that enlargethH7337[H8688] GadH1410: he dwellethH7931[H8804] as a lionH3833, and tearethH2963[H8804] the armH2220 withH637 the crown of the headH6936. |
[20]Also of Gad he said, Blessed be he that enlargeth Gad: he dwelleth as a lion, that catcheth for his prey the arm with the head. |
| [21]And he providedH7200[H8799] the first partH7225 for himself, because there, in a portionH2513 of the lawgiverH2710[H8781], was he seatedH5603[H8803]; and he cameH857[H8799] with the headsH7218 of the peopleH5971, he executedH6213[H8804] the justiceH6666 of the LORDH3068, and his judgmentsH4941 with IsraelH3478. |
[21]And he looked to himself at the beginning, because there was a portion of the lawgiver hid: yet he shall come with the heads of the people, to execute the justice of the Lord, and his judgments with Israel. |
| [22]And of DanH1835 he saidH559[H8804], DanH1835 is a lion'sH738 whelpH1482: he shall leapH2187[H8762] from BashanH1316. |
[22]And of Dan he said, Dan is a lion's whelp: he shall leap from Bashan. |
| [23]And of NaphtaliH5321 he saidH559[H8804], O NaphtaliH5321, satisfiedH7649 with favourH7522, and fullH4392 with the blessingH1293 of the LORDH3068: possessH3423[H8798] thou the westH3220 and the southH1864. |
[23]Also of Naphtali he said, O Naphtali, satisfied with favor, and filled with the blessing of the Lord, possess the west and the south. |
| [24]And of AsherH836 he saidH559[H8804], Let AsherH836 be blessedH1288[H8803] with childrenH1121; let him be acceptableH7521[H8803] to his brethrenH251, and let him dipH2881[H8802] his footH7272 in oilH8081. |
[24]And of Asher he said, Asher shall be blessed with children: he shall be acceptable unto his brethren, and shall dip his foot in oil. |
| [25]Thy shoesH4515 shall be ironH1270 and brassH5178; and as thy daysH3117, so shall thy strength beH1679. |
[25]Thy shoes shall be iron and brass, and thy strength shall continue as long as thou livest. |
| [26]There is none like unto the GodH410 of JeshurunH3484, who ridethH7392[H8802] upon the heavenH8064 in thy helpH5828, and in his excellencyH1346 on the skyH7834. |
[26]There is none like God, O righteous people, which rideth upon the heavens for thine help, and on the clouds in his glory. |
| [27]The eternalH6924 GodH430 is thy refugeH4585, and underneath are the everlastingH5769 armsH2220: and he shall thrust outH1644[H8762] the enemyH341[H8802] from beforeH6440 thee; and shall sayH559[H8799], DestroyH8045 themH8685. |
[27]The eternal God is thy refuge, and under his arms thou art forever: he shall cast out the enemy before thee, and will say, Destroy them. |
| [28]IsraelH3478 then shall dwellH7931[H8799] in safetyH983 aloneH910: the fountainH5869 of JacobH3290 shall be upon a landH776 of cornH1715 and wineH8492; also his heavensH8064 shall drop downH6201[H8799] dewH2919. |
[28]Then Israel the fountain of Jacob shall dwell alone in safety in a land of wheat, and wine: also his heavens shall drop the dew. |
| [29]HappyH835 art thou, O IsraelH3478: who is like unto thee, O peopleH5971 savedH3467[H8737] by the LORDH3068, the shieldH4043 of thy helpH5828, and who is the swordH2719 of thy excellencyH1346! and thine enemiesH341[H8802] shall be found liarsH3584[H8735] unto thee; and thou shalt treadH1869[H8799] upon their high placesH1116. |
[29]Blessed art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the Lord, the shield of thine help, and which is the sword of thy glory? Therefore thine enemies shall be in subjection to thee, and thou shalt tread upon their high places. |
