[1]Also thou son of man, prophesy unto the mountains of Israel, and say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord. |
| [2]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; Because the enemyH341[H8802] hath saidH559[H8804] against you, AhaH1889, even the ancientH5769 high placesH1116 are ours in possessionH4181: |
[2]Thus saith the Lord God, because the enemy hath said against you, Aha, even the high places of the world are ours in possession, |
| [3]Therefore prophesyH5012[H8734] and sayH559[H8804], Thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; Because they have made you desolateH8074[H8800], and swallowed you upH7602[H8800] on every sideH5439, that ye might be a possessionH4181 unto the residueH7611 of the heathenH1471, and ye are taken upH5927[H8735] in the lipsH8193 of talkersH3956, and are an infamyH1681 of the peopleH5971: |
[3]Therefore prophesy, and say, Thus saith the Lord God, Because that they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the residue of the heathen, and ye are come unto the lips and tongues of men, and unto the reproach of the people, |
| [4]Therefore, ye mountainsH2022 of IsraelH3478, hearH8085[H8798] the wordH1697 of the LordH136 GODH3069; Thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069 to the mountainsH2022, and to the hillsH1389, to the riversH650, and to the valleysH1516, to the desolateH8074[H8802] wastesH2723, and to the citiesH5892 that are forsakenH5800[H8737], which became a preyH957 and derisionH3933 to the residueH7611 of the heathenH1471 that are round aboutH5439; |
[4]Therefore ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord God, Thus saith the Lord God to the mountains and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, and to the waste, and desolate places, and to the cities that are forsaken: which are spoiled and had in derision of the residue of the heathen that are round about. |
| [5]Therefore thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; Surely in the fireH784 of my jealousyH7068 have I spokenH1696[H8765] against the residueH7611 of the heathenH1471, and against all IdumeaH123, which have appointedH5414[H8804] my landH776 into their possessionH4181 with the joyH8057 of all their heartH3824, with despitefulH7589 mindsH5315, to cast it outH4054 for a preyH957. |
[5]Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Surely in the fire of mine indignation have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all Edom, which have taken my land for their possession, with the joy of all their heart, and with despiteful minds to cast it out for a prey. |
| [6]ProphesyH5012[H8734] therefore concerning the landH127 of IsraelH3478, and sayH559[H8804] unto the mountainsH2022, and to the hillsH1389, to the riversH650, and to the valleysH1516, Thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; Behold, I have spokenH1696[H8765] in my jealousyH7068 and in my furyH2534, because ye have borneH5375[H8804] the shameH3639 of the heathenH1471: |
[6]Prophesy therefore upon the land of Israel, and say unto the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, Thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I have spoken in mine indignation, and in my wrath, because ye have suffered the shame of the heathen, |
| [7]Therefore thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; I have lifted upH5375[H8804] mine handH3027, Surely the heathenH1471 that are aboutH5439 you, they shall bearH5375[H8799] their shameH3639. |
[7]Therefore thus saith the Lord God, I have lifted up mine hand, surely the heathen that are about you, shall bear their shame. |
| [8]But ye, O mountainsH2022 of IsraelH3478, ye shall shoot forthH5414[H8799] your branchesH6057, and yieldH5375[H8799] your fruitH6529 to my peopleH5971 of IsraelH3478; for they are at handH7126[H8765] to comeH935.[H8800] |
[8]But you, O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth your branches, and bring forth your fruit to my people of Israel: for they are ready to come. |
| [9]For, behold, I am for you, and I will turnH6437[H8804] unto you, and ye shall be tilledH5647[H8738] and sownH2232:[H8738] |
[9]For behold, I come unto you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and sown. |
| [10]And I will multiplyH7235[H8689] menH120 upon you, all the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, even all of it: and the citiesH5892 shall be inhabitedH3427[H8738], and the wastesH2723 shall be buildedH1129:[H8735] |
[10]And I will multiply the men upon you, even all the house of Israel wholly, and the cities shall be inhabited, and the desolate places shall be builded. |
| [11]And I will multiplyH7235[H8689] upon you manH120 and beastH929; and they shall increaseH7235[H8804] and bring fruitH6509[H8804]: and I will settleH3427[H8689] you after your old estatesH6927, and will do betterH2895[H8689] unto you than at your beginningsH7221: and ye shall knowH3045[H8804] that I am the LORDH3068. |
[11]And I will multiply upon you man and beast, and they shall increase, and bring fruit, and I will cause you to dwell after your old estate, and I will bestow benefits upon you more than at the first, and ye shall know that I am the Lord. |
| [12]Yea, I will cause menH120 to walkH3212[H8689] upon you, even my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478; and they shall possessH3423[H8804] thee, and thou shalt be their inheritanceH5159, and thou shalt no moreH3254[H8686] henceforth bereaveH7921 them of menH8763. |
[12]Yea, I will cause men to walk upon you, even my people Israel, and they shall possess you, and ye shall be their inheritance, and ye shall no more henceforth deprive them of men. |
| [13]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; Because they sayH559[H8802] unto you, Thou land devourest upH398[H8802] menH120, and hast bereavedH7921[H8764] thy nationsH1471; |
[13]Thus saith the Lord God, because they say unto you, Thou land devourest up men, and hast been a waster of thy people, |
| [14]Therefore thou shalt devourH398[H8799] menH120 no more, neither bereaveH7921[H8762][H3782][H8762] thy nationsH1471 any more, saithH5002[H8803] the LordH136 GODH3069. |
[14]Therefore thou shalt devour men no more, neither waste thy people henceforth, saith the Lord God, |
| [15]Neither will I cause men to hearH8085[H8686] in thee the shameH3639 of the heathenH1471 any more, neither shalt thou bearH5375[H8799] the reproachH2781 of the peopleH5971 any more, neither shalt thou cause thy nationsH1471 to fallH3782[H8686] any more, saithH5002[H8803] the LordH136 GODH3069. |
[15]Neither will I cause men to hear in thee the shame of the heathen anymore, neither shalt thou bear the reproach of the people anymore, neither shalt cause thy folk to fall anymore, saith the Lord God. |
| [16]Moreover the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came unto me, sayingH559,[H8800] |
[16]Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, |
| [17]SonH1121 of manH120, when the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 dweltH3427[H8802] in their own landH127, they defiledH2930[H8762] it by their own wayH1870 and by their doingsH5949: their wayH1870 was beforeH6440 me as the uncleannessH2932 of a removed womanH5079. |
[17]Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own ways, and by their deeds: their way was before me as the filthiness of the menstruous. |
| [18]Wherefore I pouredH8210[H8799] my furyH2534 upon them for the bloodH1818 that they had shedH8210[H8804] upon the landH776, and for their idolsH1544 wherewith they had pollutedH2930 itH8765: |
[18]Wherefore I poured my wrath upon them, for the blood that they had shed in the land, and for their idols, wherewith they had polluted it. |
| [19]And I scatteredH6327[H8686] them among the heathenH1471, and they were dispersedH2219[H8735] through the countriesH776: according to their wayH1870 and according to their doingsH5949 I judgedH8199 themH8804. |
[19]And I scattered them among the heathen, and they were dispersed through the countries for according to their ways, and according to their deeds, I judged them. |
| [20]And when they enteredH935[H8799] unto the heathenH1471, whither they wentH935[H8804], they profanedH2490[H8762] my holyH6944 nameH8034, when they saidH559[H8800] to them, These are the peopleH5971 of the LORDH3068, and are gone forthH3318[H8804] out of his landH776. |
[20]And when they entered unto the heathen, whither they went, they polluted mine holy name, when they said of them, These are the people of the Lord, and are gone out of his land. |
| [21]But I had pityH2550[H8799] for mine holyH6944 nameH8034, which the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 had profanedH2490[H8765] among the heathenH1471, whither they wentH935.[H8804] |
[21]But I favored mine holy name which the house of Israel had polluted among the heathen, whither they went. |
| [22]Therefore sayH559[H8798] unto the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, Thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; I doH6213[H8802] not this for your sakes, O houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, but for mine holyH6944 name'sH8034 sake, which ye have profanedH2490[H8765] among the heathenH1471, whither ye wentH935.[H8804] |
[22]Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God, I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake, which ye polluted among the heathen whither ye went. |
| [23]And I will sanctifyH6942[H8765] my greatH1419 nameH8034, which was profanedH2490[H8794] among the heathenH1471, which ye have profanedH2490[H8765] in the midstH8432 of them; and the heathenH1471 shall knowH3045[H8804] that I am the LORDH3068, saithH5002[H8803] the LordH136 GODH3069, when I shall be sanctifiedH6942[H8736] in you before their eyesH5869. |
[23]And I will sanctify my great name, which was polluted among the heathen, among whom you have polluted it, and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes. |
| [24]For I will takeH3947[H8804] you from amongH4480 the heathenH1471, and gatherH6908[H8765] you out of all countriesH776, and will bringH935[H8689] you into your own landH127. |
[24]For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. |
| [25]Then will I sprinkleH2236[H8804] cleanH2889 waterH4325 upon you, and ye shall be cleanH2891[H8804]: from all your filthinessH2932, and from all your idolsH1544, will I cleanseH2891 youH8762. |
[25]Then will I pour clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: yea, from all your filthiness, and from all your idols will I cleanse you. |
| [26]A newH2319 heartH3820 also will I giveH5414[H8804] you, and a newH2319 spiritH7307 will I putH5414[H8799] withinH7130 you: and I will take awayH5493[H8689] the stonyH68 heartH3820 out of your fleshH1320, and I will giveH5414[H8804] you an heartH3820 of fleshH1320. |
[26]A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you, and I will take away the stony heart out of your body, and I will give you an heart of flesh. |
| [27]And I will putH5414[H8799] my spiritH7307 withinH7130 you, and causeH6213[H8804] you to walkH3212[H8799] in my statutesH2706, and ye shall keepH8104[H8799] my judgmentsH4941, and doH6213 themH8804. |
[27]And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments and do them. |
| [28]And ye shall dwellH3427[H8804] in the landH776 that I gaveH5414[H8804] to your fathersH1; and ye shall be my peopleH5971, and I will be your GodH430. |
[28]And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God. |
| [29]I will also saveH3467[H8689] you from all your uncleannessesH2932: and I will callH7121[H8804] for the cornH1715, and will increaseH7235[H8689] it, and layH5414[H8799] no famine upon youH7458. |
[29]I will also deliver you from all your filthiness, and I will call for corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you. |
| [30]And I will multiplyH7235[H8689] the fruitH6529 of the treeH6086, and the increaseH8570 of the fieldH7704, that ye shall receiveH3947[H8799] no more reproachH2781 of famineH7458 among the heathenH1471. |
[30]For I will multiply the fruit of the trees, and the increase of the field, that ye shall bear no more the reproach of famine among the heathen. |
| [31]Then shall ye rememberH2142[H8804] your own evilH7451 waysH1870, and your doingsH4611 that were not goodH2896, and shall lotheH6962[H8738] yourselves in your own sightH6440 for your iniquitiesH5771 and for your abominationsH8441. |
[31]Then shall ye remember your own wicked ways, and your deeds that were not good, and shall judge yourselves worthy to have been destroyed for your iniquities, and for your abominations. |
| [32]Not for your sakes doH6213[H8802] I this, saithH5002[H8803] the LordH136 GODH3069, be it knownH3045[H8735] unto you: be ashamedH954[H8798] and confoundedH3637[H8734] for your own waysH1870, O houseH1004 of IsraelH3478. |
[32]Be it known unto you that I do not this for your sakes, saith the Lord God: therefore, O ye house of Israel, be ashamed, and confounded for your own ways. |
| [33]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; In the dayH3117 that I shall have cleansedH2891[H8763] you from all your iniquitiesH5771 I will also cause you to dwellH3427[H8689] in the citiesH5892, and the wastesH2723 shall be buildedH1129.[H8738] |
[33]Thus saith the Lord God, What time as I shall have cleansed you from all your iniquities, I will cause you to dwell in the cities, and the desolate places shall be builded. |
| [34]And the desolateH8074[H8737] landH776 shall be tilledH5647[H8735], whereas it lay desolateH8077 in the sightH5869 of all that passed byH5674.[H8802] |
[34]And the desolate land shall be tilled, whereas it lay waste in the sight of all that passed by. |
| [35]And they shall sayH559[H8804], ThisH1977 landH776 that was desolateH8074[H8737] is become like the gardenH1588 of EdenH5731; and the wasteH2720 and desolateH8074[H8737] and ruinedH2040[H8737] citiesH5892 are become fencedH1219[H8803], and are inhabitedH3427.[H8804] |
[35]For they said, This wasteland was like the garden of Eden, and these waste and desolate and ruinous cities were strong, and were inhabited. |
| [36]Then the heathenH1471 that are leftH7604[H8735] round aboutH5439 you shall knowH3045[H8804] that I the LORDH3068 buildH1129[H8804] the ruinedH2040[H8737] places, and plantH5193[H8804] that that was desolateH8074[H8737]: I the LORDH3068 have spokenH1696[H8765] it, and I will doH6213 itH8804. |
[36]Then the residue of the heathen that are left round about you, shall know that I the Lord build the ruinous places, and plant the desolate places: I the Lord have spoken it, and will do it. |
| [37]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LordH136 GODH3069; I will yet for this be enquiredH1875[H8735] of by the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, to doH6213[H8800] it for them; I will increaseH7235[H8686] them with menH120 like a flockH6629. |
[37]Thus saith the Lord God, I will yet for this be sought of the house of Israel, to perform it unto them: I will increase them with men like a flock. |
| [38]As the holyH6944 flockH6629, as the flockH6629 of JerusalemH3389 in her solemn feastsH4150; so shall the wasteH2720 citiesH5892 be filledH4392 with flocksH6629 of menH120: and they shall knowH3045[H8804] that I am the LORDH3068. |
[38]As the holy flock, as the flock of Jerusalem in their solemn feasts, so shall the desolate cities be filled with flocks of men, and they shall know, that I am the Lord. |
