[1]And aftir that these thingis weren don, God assaiede Abraham, and seide to hym, Abraham! Abraham! He answerde, Y am present. [1]After these sayinges, god did tempt Abraham, and sayde vnto him Abraham. Which answered, here I am
[2]God seide to him, Take thi `sone oon gendrid, whom thou louest, Ysaac; and go into the lond of visioun, and offre thou hym there in to brent sacrifice, on oon of the hillis whiche Y schal schewe to thee. [2]And he saide: take thy sonne, thyne onlye sonne Isahac whom thou louest, & get thee vnto the lande Moriah, and offer him there for a burnt offering vpon one of the mountaines which I wyl shewe thee
[3]Therfor Abraham roos bi niyt, and sadlide his asse, and ledde with hym twey yonge men, and Ysaac his sone; and whanne he hadde hewe trees in to brent sacrifice, he yede to the place which God hadde comaundid to him. [3]Then Abraham rose vp early in the mornyng, and sadled his Asse, and toke two of his young men with hym, and Isahac his sonne, and cloue wood for the burnt offering, and rose vp, and got hym to the place whiche God had appointed hym
[4]Forsothe in the thridde dai he reiside hise iyen, and seiy a place afer; [4]The thirde day Abraham lyft vp his eyes, and sawe the place a farre of
[5]and he seide to hise children, Abide ye here with the asse, Y and the child schulen go thidur; and aftir that we han worschipid, we schulen turne ayen to you. [5]And sayde vnto his young men, byde here with the Asse, I and the lad will go yonder & worship, and come agayne to you
[6]And he took the trees of brent sacrifice, and puttide on Ysaac his sone; forsothe he bar fier, and a swerd in hise hondis. And whanne thei tweyne yeden togidere, Isaac seide to his fadir, My fadir! [6]And Abraham toke the wood of the burnt offeryng, and layde it vpon Isahac his sonne: but he him selfe toke fire in his hande and a knyfe, and they went both of them together
[7]And he answerde, What wolt thou, sone? He seide, Lo! fier and trees, where is the beeste of brent sacrifice? [7]Then spake Isahac vnto Abraham his father, and sayd, my father. And he aunswered, here am I, my sonne. He sayde, see here is fyre and wood, but where is the beast for burnt sacrifice
[8]Abraham seide, My sone, God schal puruey to hym the beeste of brent sacrifice. [8]Abraham aunswered: My God wyll prouide a beast for burnt sacrifice: and so they went both together
[9]Therfor thei yeden to gidere, and camen to the place whiche God hadde schewid to hym, in which place Abraham bildide an auter, and dresside trees a boue; and whanne he hadde bounde to gidere Ysaac, his sone, he puttide Ysaac in the auter, on the heep of trees. [9]And when they came to ye place which God had shewed him, Abraham buylt an aulter there, and dressed the wood, and bound Isahac his sonne, and layde him on the aulter aboue vpo the wood
[10]And he helde forth his hond, and took the swerd to sacrifice his sone. [10]And Abraham stretchyng foorth his hande, toke the knyfe to haue killed his sonne
[11]And lo! an aungel of the Lord criede fro heuene, and seide, Abraham! Abraham! [11]And the angell of the Lord called vnto him from heauen, saying: Abraham, Abraham. And he sayd, here [am] I
[12]Which answerde, I am present. And the aungel seide to hym, Holde thou not forth thin honde on the child, nether do thou ony thing to him; now Y haue knowe that thou dredist God, and sparidist not thin oon gendrid sone for me. [12]And he sayde: lay not thy hande vpon the chylde, neyther do any thyng vnto hym, for nowe I knowe that thou fearest God, & hast for my sake not spared [yea] thine onlye sonne
[13]Abraham reiside hise iyen, and he seiy `bihynde his bak a ram cleuynge bi hornes among breris, which he took, and offride brent sacrifice for the sone. [13]And Abraham lifting vp his eyes, looked: and beholde, behynde [hym] there was a Ramme caught by the hornes in a thicket: and Abraham went & tooke the Ramme, and offered hym vp for a burnt offering in the steade of his sonne
[14]And he clepide the name of that place, The Lord seeth; wherfore it is seyd, til to dai, The Lord schal see in the hil. [14]And Abraham called ye name of the place, the Lorde wyll see. As it is sayde this day, in the mounte will the Lorde be seene
[15]Forsothe the aungel of the Lord clepide Abraham the secounde tyme fro heuene, [15]And the angell of the Lorde cryed vnto Abraham from heauen the seconde tyme
[16]and seide, The Lord seith, Y haue swore bi my silf, for thou hast do this thing, and hast not sparid thin oon gendrid for me, [16]And sayd: by my selfe haue I sworne, sayeth the Lorde, because thou hast done this thyng, and hast not spared yea thyne onlye sonne
[17]Y schal blesse thee, and Y schal multiplie thi seed as the sterris of heuene, and as grauel which is in the brynk of the see; thi seed schal gete the yatis of hise enemyes; [17]That in blessing I wyll blesse thee, and in multiplying I wyll multiplie thy seede as the starres of heauen, and as the sande which is vpon the sea side, and thy seede shall possesse the gates of his enemies
[18]and alle the folkis of erthe schulen be blessid in thi seed, for thou obeiedist to my vois. [18]And in thy seede shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because thou hast hearde my voyce
[19]Abraham turnede ayen to hise children, and thei yeden to Bersabee to gidere, and he dwellide there. [19]So turned Abraham againe vnto his young men: and they rose vp, and went together to Beer seba, and Abraham dwelt at Beer seba
[20]And so whanne these thingis weren don, it was teld to Abraham that also Melcha hadde bore sones to Nachor his brother; [20]And after these thynges, one tolde Abraham, saying: beholde Milcha, she hath also borne chyldren vnto thy brother Nachor
[21]Hus the firste gendrid, and Buz his brothir, and Chamuhel the fadir of Sireis, [21]Hus his eldest sonne, and Buz his brother, and Camuel the father of the Syrians
[22]and Cased, and Asan, and Feldas, [22]And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Iidlaph, and Bethuel
[23]and Jedlaf, and Batuhel, of whom Rebecca was borun; Melcha childide these eiyte to Nachor brother of Abraham. [23]And Bethuel begat Rebecca. These eyght did Milcha beare to Nachor Abrahams brother
[24]Forsothe his concubyn, Roma bi name, childide Thabee, and Gaon, and Thaas, and Maacha. [24]And his concubine called Reumah, she bare also Tebah, & Gaham, Thahas, and Maacha
