[2]To whom the word of the Lord came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah in the thirteenth year of his reign: |

[3]And also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah, the son of Josiah king of Judah, even unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month. |

[4]Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, |

[5]Before I formed thee in the womb, I knew thee, and before thou camest out of the womb, I sanctified thee, and ordained thee to be a prophet unto the nations. |
| [6]Then saidH559[H8799] I, AhH162, LordH136 GODH3069! behold, I cannotH3045[H8804] speakH1696[H8763]: for I am a childH5288. |
[6]Then said I, Oh, Lord God, behold, I cannot speak, for I am a child. |
| [7]But the LORDH3068 saidH559[H8799] unto me, SayH559[H8799] not, I am a childH5288: for thou shalt goH3212[H8799] to all that I shall sendH7971[H8799] thee, and whatsoever I commandH6680[H8762] thee thou shalt speakH1696.[H8762] |
[7]But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee, shalt thou speak. |
| [8]Be not afraidH3372[H8799] of their facesH6440: for I am with thee to deliverH5337[H8687] thee, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068. |
[8]Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. |
| [9]Then the LORDH3068 put forthH7971[H8799] his handH3027, and touchedH5060[H8686] my mouthH6310. And the LORDH3068 saidH559[H8799] unto me, Behold, I have putH5414[H8804] my wordsH1697 in thy mouthH6310. |
[9]Then the Lord stretched out his hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. |

[10]Behold, this day have I set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms to pluck up, and to root out, and to destroy and throw down, to build, and to plant. |
| [11]Moreover the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came unto me, sayingH559[H8800], JeremiahH3414, what seestH7200[H8802] thou? And I saidH559[H8799], I seeH7200[H8802] a rodH4731 of an almond treeH8247. |
[11]After this the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree. |
| [12]Then saidH559[H8799] the LORDH3068 unto me, Thou hast wellH3190[H8689] seenH7200[H8800]: for I will hastenH8245[H8802] my wordH1697 to performH6213 itH8800. |
[12]Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast seen aright: for I will hasten my word to perform it. |
| [13]And the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came unto me the second timeH8145, sayingH559[H8800], What seestH7200[H8802] thou? And I saidH559[H8799], I seeH7200[H8802] a seethingH5301[H8803] potH5518; and the faceH6440 thereof is towardH6440 the northH6828. |
[13]Again the word of the Lord came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot looking out of the north. |
| [14]Then the LORDH3068 saidH559[H8799] unto me, Out of the northH6828 an evilH7451 shall break forthH6605[H8735] upon all the inhabitantsH3427[H8802] of the landH776. |
[14]Then said the Lord unto me, Out of the north shall a plague be spread upon all the inhabitants of the land. |
| [15]For, lo, I will callH7121[H8802] all the familiesH4940 of the kingdomsH4467 of the northH6828, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068; and they shall comeH935[H8804], and they shall setH5414[H8804] every oneH376 his throneH3678 at the enteringH6607 of the gatesH8179 of JerusalemH3389, and against all the wallsH2346 thereof round aboutH5439, and against all the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063. |
[15]For lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the Lord, and they shall come, and everyone shall set his throne in the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and on all the walls thereof round about, and in all the cities of Judah. |
| [16]And I will utterH1696[H8765] my judgmentsH4941 against them touchingH5921 all their wickednessH7451, who have forsakenH5800[H8804] me, and have burned incenseH6999[H8762] unto otherH312 godsH430, and worshippedH7812[H8691] the worksH4639 of their own handsH3027. |
[16]And I will declare unto them my judgments touching all the wickedness of them that have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands. |
| [17]Thou therefore gird upH247[H8799] thy loinsH4975, and ariseH6965[H8804], and speakH1696[H8765] unto them all that I commandH6680[H8762] thee: be not dismayedH2865[H8735] at their facesH6440, lest I confoundH2865[H8686] thee before themH6440. |
[17]Thou therefore truss up thy loins, and arise and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not afraid of their faces, lest I destroy thee before them. |
| [18]For, behold, IH589 have madeH5414[H8804] thee this dayH3117 a defencedH4013 cityH5892, and an ironH1270 pillarH5982, and brasenH5178 wallsH2346 against the whole landH776, against the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063, against the princesH8269 thereof, against the priestsH3548 thereof, and against the peopleH5971 of the landH776. |
[18]For I, behold, I this day have made thee a defensed city, and an iron pillar and walls of brass against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, and against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof and against the people of the land. |
| [19]And they shall fightH3898[H8738] against thee; but they shall not prevailH3201[H8799] against thee; for I am with thee, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068, to deliverH5337 theeH8687. |
[19]For they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. |
