[1]Now PashurH6583 the sonH1121 of ImmerH564 the priestH3548, who was also chiefH6496 governorH5057 in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, heardH8085[H8799] that JeremiahH3414 prophesiedH5012[H8738] these thingsH1697. |
| [2]And Phassur smoot Jeremye, the profete, and sente hym in to the stockis, that weren in the hiyere yate of Beniamyn, in the hous of the Lord. |
[2]Then PashurH6583 smoteH5221[H8686] JeremiahH3414 the prophetH5030, and putH5414[H8799] him in the stocksH4115 that were in the highH5945 gateH8179 of BenjaminH1144, which was by the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068. |
| [3]And whanne it was cleer in the morewe, Phassur ledde Jeremye out of the stockis. And Jeremye seide to hym, The Lord clepide not Phassur thi name, but Drede on ech side. |
[3]And it came to pass on the morrowH4283, that PashurH6583 brought forthH3318[H8686] JeremiahH3414 out of the stocksH4115. Then saidH559[H8799] JeremiahH3414 unto him, The LORDH3068 hath not calledH7121[H8804] thy nameH8034 PashurH6583, but MagormissabibH4036. |
| [4]For the Lord seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal yyue thee and alle thi freendis in to drede, and thei schulen falle doun bi the swerd of her enemyes; and thin iyen schulen se; and Y schal yyue al Juda in the hond of the king of Babiloyne, and he schal lede hem ouer in to Babiloyne, and he schal smyte hem bi swerd. |
[4]For thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068, Behold, I will makeH5414[H8802] thee a terrorH4032 to thyself, and to all thy friendsH157[H8802]: and they shall fallH5307[H8804] by the swordH2719 of their enemiesH341[H8802], and thine eyesH5869 shall beholdH7200[H8802] it: and I will giveH5414[H8799] all JudahH3063 into the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and he shall carry them captiveH1540[H8689] into BabylonH894, and shall slayH5221[H8689] them with the swordH2719. |
| [5]And Y schal yyue al the catel of this citee, and al the trauel therof, and al the prijs; and Y schal yyue alle the tresours of the kingis of Juda in the hond of her enemyes; and thei schulen rauysche tho, and schulen take, and lede forth in to Babiloyne. |
[5]Moreover I will deliverH5414[H8804] all the strengthH2633 of this cityH5892, and all the laboursH3018 thereof, and all the precious thingsH3366 thereof, and all the treasuresH214 of the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063 will I giveH5414[H8799] into the handH3027 of their enemiesH341[H8802], which shall spoilH962[H8804] them, and takeH3947[H8804] them, and carryH935[H8689] them to BabylonH894. |
| [6]Forsothe thou, Phassur, and alle the dwelleris of thin hous, schulen go in to caitifte; and thou schalt come in to Babiloyne, and thou schalt die there; and thou schalt be biried there, thou and alle thi freendis, to whiche thou profesiedist a leesyng. |
[6]And thou, PashurH6583, and all that dwellH3427[H8802] in thine houseH1004 shall goH3212[H8799] into captivityH7628: and thou shalt comeH935[H8799] to BabylonH894, and there thou shalt dieH4191[H8799], and shalt be buriedH6912[H8735] there, thou, and all thy friendsH157[H8802], to whom thou hast prophesiedH5012[H8738] liesH8267. |
| [7]Lord, thou disseyuedist me, and Y am disseyued; thou were strongere than Y, and thou haddist the maistrie; Y am maad in to scorn al dai. |
[7]O LORDH3068, thou hast deceivedH6601[H8765] me, and I was deceivedH6601[H8735]: thou art strongerH2388[H8804] than I, and hast prevailedH3201[H8799]: I am in derisionH7814 dailyH3117, every one mockethH3932 meH8802. |
| [8]Alle men bymowen me, for now a while ago Y speke criynge wickidnesse, and Y criede distriynge. And the word of the Lord is maad to me in to schenschip, and in to scorn al dai. |
[8]For sinceH1767 I spakeH1696[H8762], I cried outH2199[H8799], I criedH7121[H8799] violenceH2555 and spoilH7701; because the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 was made a reproachH2781 unto me, and a derisionH7047, dailyH3117. |
| [9]And Y seide, Y schal not haue mynde on hym, and Y schal no more speke in his name. And the word of the Lord was maad, as fier swalynge in myn herte, and cloosid in my boonys; and Y failide, not suffryng to bere. |
[9]Then I saidH559[H8804], I will not make mentionH2142[H8799] of him, nor speakH1696[H8762] any more in his nameH8034. But his word was in mine heartH3820 as a burningH1197[H8802] fireH784 shut upH6113[H8803] in my bonesH6106, and I was wearyH3811[H8738] with forbearingH3557[H8771], and I couldH3201 not stayH8799. |
| [10]For Y herde dispisyngis of many men, and drede in cumpas, Pursue ye, and pursue we hym, of alle men that weren pesible to me, and kepynge my side; if in ony maner he be disseyued, and we haue the maistrie ayens hym, and gete veniaunce of hym. |
[10]For I heardH8085[H8804] the defamingH1681 of manyH7227, fearH4032 on every sideH5439. ReportH5046[H8685], say they, and we will reportH5046[H8686] it. | [11]Forsothe the Lord as a stronge werriour is with me, therfor thei that pursuen me schulen falle, and schulen be sijk; and thei schulen be schent greetli, for thei vndurstoden not euerlastynge schenschip, that schal neuere be don awei. |
[11]But the LORDH3068 is with me as a mightyH1368 terrible oneH6184: therefore my persecutorsH7291[H8802] shall stumbleH3782[H8735], and they shall not prevailH3201[H8799]: they shall be greatlyH3966 ashamedH954[H8804]; for they shall not prosperH7919[H8689]: their everlastingH5769 confusionH3639 shall never be forgottenH7911.[H8735] |
| [12]And thou, Lord of oostis, the preuere of a iust man, which seest the reynes and herte, Y biseche, se Y thi veniaunce of hem; for Y haue schewid my cause to thee. |
[12]But, O LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, that triestH974[H8802] the righteousH6662, and seestH7200[H8802] the reinsH3629 and the heartH3820, let me seeH7200[H8799] thy vengeanceH5360 on them: for unto thee have I openedH1540[H8765] my causeH7379. |
| [13]Synge ye to the Lord, herie ye the Lord, for he delyueride the soule of a pore man fro the hond of yuel men. |

| [17]he that killide not me fro the wombe, here cry eerli, and yellynge in the tyme of myddai; that my modir were a sepulcre to me, and hir wombe were euerlastinge conseyuyng. |
[17]Because he slewH4191[H8790] me not from the wombH7358; or that my motherH517 might have been my graveH6913, and her wombH7358 to be alwaysH5769 great with meH2030. |
| [18]Whi yede Y out of the wombe, that Y schulde se trauel and sorewe, and that mi daies schulen be waastid in schenschipe? |
[18]Wherefore came I forthH3318[H8804] out of the wombH7358 to seeH7200[H8800] labourH5999 and sorrowH3015, that my daysH3117 should be consumedH3615[H8799] with shameH1322? |
