| [1]WHEN Jesus had finished commanding his twelve disciples, he departed from that place to teach and to preach in their cities. |
[1]And it was that when had finished Ieshu charging the twelve His disciples He moved from there to teach and to preach in their cities |
| [2]But when John heard in prison of the works of Christ, he sent by his disciples, |
[2]Yohanan but when He had heard in the house of prisoners His works of the Messiah he sent by the hand of his disciples |
| [3]And said to him, Are you the one who is to come, or are we to expect another? |
[3]And he said to Him you are? He Who comes or another is He? expect we |
| [4]Jesus answered and said, Go and describe to John the things which you see and hear. |
[4]Answered Ieshu and He said to them go relate to Yokhanan those things that hear you and see |
| [5]The blind see, and the lame walk, and the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead rise up, and the poor are given hope. |
[5]The blind see and the lame walk and lepers are purified and the deaf are hearing and the dead are rising and the poor are given good news |
| [6]And blessed is he who does not stumble on account of me. |
[6]And blessed is he who not will be stumbled by Me |
| [7]When they went away, Jesus began to speak to the people concerning John, What did you go out to the wilderness to see? A reed which is shaken by the wind? |
[7]When but they departed began Ieshu to say to the crowds about Yokhanan what? did you go out to the wilderness to see a reed that by the wind is being shaken |
| [8]If not so, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? Behold those who wear fine clothes are in kings' houses. |
[8]And if not what? did you go out to see a man who a long robe soft wears? behold those who soft things wear in the house of a king are |
| [9]And if not so, What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet. |
[9]Otherwise what? did you go out to see a prophet? yes say I to you and more than a prophet |
| [10]For this is he of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before your face, to prepare the way before you. |
[10]This is for he about whom it is written behold I sending am My messenger before your presence that he may prepare the road before You |
| [11]Truly I say to you, that among those who are born of women, there has never risen one who is greater than John the Baptist; and yet even the least person in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. |
[11]Amen I say to you that not has arisen among them born of a woman one greater than Yokhanan The Baptizer the little one but in the kingdom of Heaven greater is than he |
| [12]From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been administered by force, and only those in power control it. |
[12]From the days of Yokhanan but The Baptizer and until this hour the Kingdom of Heaven by force is led and the violent are seizing it |
| [13]For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. |
[13]They prophesied all of them for The Prophets and The Torah until Yokhanan |
| [14]And if you wish, accept it, that he is Elijah who was to come. |
[14]And if willing you are accept that he is Elijah who was going to come |
| [15]He who has ears to hear, let him hear. |
[15]Whoever that is to him an ear that will hear let him hear |
| [16]But to whom shall I liken this generation? It is like boys who sit in the street and call to their friends. |
[16]To what? but shall I compare generation this it is like children sitting in the street and calling their playmates |
| [17]And say, We have sung to you, but you would not dance; and we have wailed to you but you did not mourn. |
[17]And saying we sang to you and not you danced and we cried to you and not you were sad |
| [18]For John came, neither eating nor drinking, and they said he is crazy. |
[18]Came for Yokhanan who nothing ate and nothing drank and they were saying a demon is in him |
| [19]The Son of man came, eating and drinking, and they said, Behold, a glutton and a wine-bibber, and a friend of publicans and sinners. And yet wisdom is justified by its works. |
[19]Came The Son of Man eating and drinking and they were saying behold a man a glutton and drinker of wine and friend of tax collectors and of sinners and is justified wisdom by its works |
| [20]Then Jesus began to reproach the cities in which his many works were done, and which did not repent. And he said, |
[20]Then began Ieshu to reproach cities those where had happened in them His mighty works many and not they repented |
| [21]Woe to you, Chorazin! woe to you, Bethsaida! for if in Tyre and Sidon had been done the works which were done in you, they might have repented in sackcloth and ashes. |
[21]And said He woe to you Korazin woe to you Bethsaida for if in Tsur and in Tsidon had happened powerful works those that have happened in you doubtless but in sackcloth and in ashes they would have repented |
| [22]But I say to you, It will be easier for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment, than for you. |
[22]Yet say I to you that for Tsur and for Tsidon it will be tranquil in the day of judgment rather than for you |
| [23]And you, Capernaum, which have exalted yourself up to heaven, shall be brought down to Sheol; for if in Sodom had been done the works which were done in you, it would be standing to this day. |
[23]And you Kapernakhum which unto Heaven you were exalted unto Sheol you will descend for if in Sadom had been done powerful works those that were done in you remained it would have until today |
| [24]But I say to you, It will be easier for the land of Sodom in the judgment day, than for you. |
[24]But I say to you that for the land of Sadom it will be tranquil in the day of judgment rather than for you |
| [25]At that time, Jesus answered and said, I thank you, O my Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the men of understanding, and you have revealed them to children. |
[25]At that time answered Ieshu and said thank I you My Father the Lord of Heaven and of the earth that You have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and You have revealed them to infants |
| [26]O yes, my Father, for such was your will. |
[26]Yes My Father for thus it was desireable before You |
| [27]Everything has been delivered to me by my Father, and no man knows the Son except the Father, nor does any man know the Father but the Son, and he to whomever the Son wishes to reveal. |
[27]Every thing has been given up to Me by My Father and no man knows The Son except only The Father also not The Father a man knows except only The Son and he to whom wants The Son to reveal Him |
| [28]Come to me, all you who are tired out and carrying burdens, and I will give you rest. |
[28]Come unto Me all of you who labor and are forced to bear burdens and I shall give you rest |
| [29]Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am genial and meek in my heart, and you will find rest to your souls. |
[29]Take My yoke on you and learn from Me for peaceful I and meek am in My heart and will find you rest for your souls |
| [30]For my yoke is very pleasant, and my burden is light. |
[30]My yoke for pleasant is and My burden light is |
