| [1]ביום ההוא יצא יש''ו מהבית וישב על שפת הים |
[1]The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the seaside. |
| [2]ויתחברו אליו חבורות עד שנצטרך לבא באניה וכל החבורה עומדת בחוץ |
[2]And great multitudes resorted unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat down: and the whole multitude stood on the shore. |
| [3]וידבר להם דברים רבים במשלים ויאמר להם איש יוצא מביתו בבוקר לזרוע את זרעו |
[3]Then he spake many things to them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow. |
| [4]ובזרעו נפל ממנו בדרך ואכל אותו העוף |
[4]And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside, and the fowls came and devoured them up. |
| [5]וממנה נפלה באבן שאין שם עובי עפר ובצמחו נתייבש לפי שאין שם עפר לרוב |
[5]And some fell upon stony ground, where they had not much earth, and soon they sprung up, because they had no depth of earth. |
| [6]ובחום השמש עליו נשרף ונתייבש שאין לו שורש |
[6]And when the sun rose up, they were parched, and for lack of rooting, withered away. |
| [7]וממנו נפל בין הקוצים ויגדלוהו הקוצים ויעמדוהו |
[7]And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprung up, and choked them. |
| [8]וממנו נפל בארץ טובה ויעשה פרי ותבואה האחד מאה והשני ששים והשלישי שלשים |
[8]Some again fell in good ground, and brought forth fruit, one corn an hundred fold, some sixty fold, and another thirty fold. |
| [9]למי אזנים לשמוע ישמע |
[9]He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. |
| [10]ויקרבו אליו תלמידיו ואמרו לו תלמידיו למה תדבר במשלים |
[10]Then the disciples came, and said to him, Why speakest thou to them in parables? |
| [11]ויאמר שלכם נתן מלכות שמים להכיר ולא להם |
[11]And he answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you, to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. |
| [12]למי שיש לו ינתן עוד ולמי שאין לו מה שהוא חושב ילקח ממנו |
[12]For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away, even that he hath. |
| [13]לזה אני מדבר במשלים שהם רואים ואינם רואים שומעים ואינם שומעים |
[13]Therefore speak I to them in parables, because they seeing, do not see: and hearing, they hear not, neither understand. |
| [14]לגמור מה שנאמר ע''י ישעיה הנביא לך ואמרת לעם הזה שמעו שמוע ואל תדעו וראו ראה ואל וכו' |
[14]So in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which prophecy saith, By hearing, ye shall hear, and shall not understand, and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive. |
| [15]השמן לב העם הזה ואזניו הכבד ועיניו השע פן יראה בעיניו וכו' |
[15]For this peoples heart is waxed fat, and their ears are dull of hearing, and with their eyes they have winked, lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their hearts, and should return, that I might heal them. |
| [16]ואשרי עיניכם שרואות ואזניכם ששומעות |
[16]But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. |
| [17]אמן אני דובר לכם שנביאים רבים וצדיקים התאוו לראות מה שאתם רואים ולא ראו ולשמוע מה שאתם שומעים ולא שמעו |
[17]For verily I say unto you, that many Prophets, and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them, and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. |
| [18]ואתם שמעו משל הזורע |
[18]Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. |
| [19]הזורע הוא בן אדם והזרע שנפל בדרך כל השומע מלכות שמים ולא יבין יבא השטן ויחתוף מלכו כל מה שנזרע בו וזהו הזרע שנפל על הדרך |
[19]Whensoever a man heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, the evil one cometh, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart: and this is he which hath received the seed by the way side. |
| [20]ואשר נפל על האבן הוא השומע דבר האל וקבלנו מיד בשמחה |
[20]And he that received seed in the stony ground, is he which heareth the word, and incontinently with joy receiveth it, |
| [21]והוא בלא שורש ומבוכה ובבא מעט צער וצרה להם השטן משכחו מלבם |
[21]Yet hath he no root in himself, and endureth but a season: for as soon as tribulation or persecution cometh because of the word, by and by he is offended. |
| [22]ואשר נפל בקוצים זה השומע את הדבר ובחמדתו לאסוף עושר השטן משכחו דבר האל ולא יעשה פרי |
[22]And he that receiveth the seed among thorns, is he that heareth the word: but the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he is made unfruitful. |
| [23]ואשר נפל בארץ הטובה הוא השומע את הדבר ומבין ועושה פרי ר''ל ממעשים טובים ויוציא מן הא'' מאה ומן השני ששים ומן השלישי שלשים הא'' מאה זהו מטהרת הלב וקדושת הגוף ומהאחד ששים זהו מפרישות האשה ומהשלישי שלשים זהו מקדושה בזיווג בגוף ובלב |
[23]But he that receiveth the seed in the good ground, is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it, which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundred fold, some sixty fold, and some thirty fold. |
| [24]וישם לפניהם משל אחר מלכות שמים דומה לאיש הזורע כשזרעו זרע טוב |
[24]Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like unto a man which sowed good seed in his field. |
| [25]ויהי כאשר בני אדם ישנים בא שונאו ויזרע על החטים זון מלעז ברייא''גה וילך |
[25]But while men slept, there came his enemy, and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. |
| [26]ויהי כאשר גדלה העשב לעשות פרי וראה הזון |
[26]And when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. |
| [27]ויקרבו עבדי בעל השדה אליו ויאמרו לו אדונינו הלא זרע טוב זרעת ומאין היה הזון? |
[27]Then came the servants of the householder, and said unto him, Master, sowest not thou good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? |
| [28]אמר להם שונאי עשו זה ויאמרו לו עבדיו נעקור הזון |
[28]And he said to them, The envious man hath done this. Then the servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? |
| [29]ויאמר להם לא פן תעקרו החטה |
[29]But he said, Nay, lest while ye go about to gather the tares, ye pluck up also with them the wheat. |
| [30]אלא הניחו זה וזה ויגדל עד הקציר ובעת הקציר אמר לקוצרים לקטו הזון ראשונה וקשרו אותה חבילות חבילות לשרוף והחטה תנו באוצר |
[30]Let both grow together until the harvest, and in time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye first the tares, and bind them in sheaves to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. |
| [31]וישם לפניהם משל אחר מלכות שמים דומה לגרגיר חרדל שיקח אותו אדם ויזרעהו בשדה |
[31]Another parable he put forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like unto a grain of mustard seed, which a man taketh and soweth in his field: |
| [32]והוא דק מכל זרעונים ובגדלו יגדל על כל העשבים ונעשה עץ גדול עד שעוף השמים יאצילו באנפא |
[32]Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and it is a tree, so that the birds of heaven come and build in the branches thereof. |
| [33]וידבר להם משל אחר מלכות שמים דומה לשאור שמביא אותו האלה בשלש סאים קמח ויחמיץ את כולו |
[33]Another parable spake he to them, The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman taketh and hideth in three pecks of meal, till all be leavened. |
| [34]כל המשלים האלא דבר יש''ו לחבורות ובלי משל לא היה דובר אליהם |
[34]All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables, and without parables spake he not to them, |
| [35]לקיים מה שנאמר ע''פ הנביא אפתחה במשל פי אביעה חדות מני קדם |
[35]That it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the Prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables, and will utter the things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world. |
| [36]אז נפרד יש''ו מן החבורות ויבא אל הבית ויקרבו אליו תלמידיו ובקשו ממנו לפרוש להם משל הזון |
[36]Then sent Jesus the multitude away, and went into the house. And his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. |
| [37]ויען להם ויאמר להם הזורע זרע טוב הוא האדם |
[37]Then answered he, and said to them, He that soweth the good seed, is the Son of man. |
| [38]והשדה הוא העולם הזה ופרי הטוב הם הצדיקים והזון הם הרשעים |
[38]And the field is the world, and the good seed, they are the children of the kingdom, and the tares are the children of the wicked, |
| [39]והשונא שזרע אותו הוא השטן והקמה אחרית העה''ב והקוצרים הם המלאכים |
[39]And the enemy that soweth them, is the devil, and the harvest is the end of the world, and the reapers be the Angels. |
| [40]וכאשר לקטו הקוצרים הזון לשרוף כן יהיה באחרית הימים |
[40]As then the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so shall it be in the end of this world. |
| [41]ישלח בן אדם את ממלאכיו לעקור ממלכותו כל רשע וכל פועלי און |
[41]The Son of man shall send forth his Angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity, |
| [42]וישליחו אותם במדורת אש ושם יהיה בכי וחריקת שינים |
[42]And shall cast them into a furnace of fire. There shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. |
| [43]אז יזהירו הצדיקים כשמש במלכות אביהם למי אזנים לשמוע ישמע |
[43]Then shall the just men shine as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. |
| [44]עוד אמר יש''ו לתלמידיו מלכוט שמים היא דומה לאדם המוציא מטמון אשר יסתירוהו ובשמחת הממון ימכור כל אשר לו ויקנה השדה בעדו |
[44]Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hid in the field, which when a man hath found, he hideth it, and for joy thereof departeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. |
| [45]ועוד מלכות שמים דומה לאדם סוחר המבקש אבנים יקרות |
[45]Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a merchant man, that seeketh good pearls, |
| [46]וכאשר ימצא אחת טובה ימכור כל אשר לו ויקנה אותה |
[46]Who having found a pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it. |
| [47]מלכות שמים דומה לרשת בתוך הים שכל מיני דגים נאספים בה |
[47]Again the kingdom of heaven is like unto a drawnet cast into the sea, that gathereth of all kinds of things. |
| [48]וכאשר תמלא יוציאוה לחוץ ויוצאים הדייגים ובוחרים הטובים בכליהם והרעים משליכים חוצה |
[48]Which, when it is full, men draw to land, and sit and gather the good into vessels, and cast the bad away. |
| [49]כן יהיה באחרית הימים יצאו המלאכים ויבדילו הרשעים מתוך הצדיקים |
[49]So shall it be at the end of the world. The Angels shall go forth, and sever the bad from among the just, |
| [50]וישליכו אותם במדורית אש שם יהיה בכי וחריקת שינים |
[50]And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing, and gnashing of teeth. |
| [51]ויאמר להם הבנתם זה ויאמרו כן |
[51]Jesus said unto them, Understand ye all these things? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. |
| [52]לזאת כל חכם ידמה במלכות שמים לאדם אבי הטף המוציא מאוצרו דברים חדשים גם ישנים |
[52]Then said he unto them, Therefore every Scribe which is taught unto the kingdom of heaven, is like unto an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things both new and old. |
| [53]ויהי אחרי זאת כאשר כלה יש''ו הדברים האלה עבר משם |
[53]And it came to pass, that when Jesus had ended these parables, he departed thence, |
| [54]ובא לארצו והיה מלמד לאנשים בבתי כנסיות והפרושים נפלאו ויאמרו בלבם מאין בה לזה החכמה וכח לעשות אלו הפעולות |
[54]And came into his own country, and taught them in their Synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, Whence cometh this wisdom and great works unto this man? |
| [55]אין בן זה הנפח ומרים? הלא ידעתם שכל אלו אמו מרים ואחיו ג' יוסף ושמע''ון ויהוד''ה |
[55]Is not this the carpenters son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brethren James and Joseph, and Simon and Judas? |
| [56]ואחיותיו? הלא ידעתם שכל אלו עמנו? ומאין בא לזה כל אלה? |
[56]And are not his sisters all with us? Whence then hath he all these things? |
| [57]והיו נבוכים בו ויען להם יש''ו אין נביא שאין לו כבוד כ''א בארצו ועירו וביתו |
[57]And they were offended with him. Then Jesus said to them, A Prophet is not without honor, save in his own country, and in his own house. |
| [58]ולא רצה לעשות שם שום אות למיעוט אמונתם |
[58]And he did not many great works there, for their unbeliefs sake. |
