| [1]ἐν ἐκείνῳ τῶ καιρῶ ἤκουσεν ἡρῴδης ὁ τετραάρχης τὴν ἀκοὴν ἰησοῦ, |
[1]At that but time heard Herodus the Tetrarch the fame of Ieshu |
| [2]καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ, οὖτός ἐστιν ἰωάννης ὁ βαπτιστής· αὐτὸς ἠγέρθη ἀπὸ τῶν νεκρῶν, καὶ διὰ τοῦτο αἱ δυνάμεις ἐνεργοῦσιν ἐν αὐτῶ. |
[2]And he said to his servants This is Yokhanan the Baptizer he has arisen from house of the dead because of this miracles are done by Him |
| [3]ὁ γὰρ ἡρῴδης κρατήσας τὸν ἰωάννην ἔδησεν [αὐτὸν] καὶ ἐν φυλακῇ ἀπέθετο διὰ ἡρῳδιάδα τὴν γυναῖκα φιλίππου τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ· |
[3]That for Herodus seized had Yokhanan and bound him and cast him into the house of prisoners because of Herodia wife of Phillipus his brother |
| [4]ἔλεγεν γὰρ ὁ ἰωάννης αὐτῶ, οὐκ ἔξεστίν σοι ἔχειν αὐτήν. |
[4]Said had to him for Yokhanan that not it is lawful that she should be to you the wife |
| [5]καὶ θέλων αὐτὸν ἀποκτεῖναι ἐφοβήθη τὸν ὄχλον, ὅτι ὡς προφήτην αὐτὸν εἶχον. |
[5]And he wanted had to kill him and afraid he was of the people who as prophetic they holding they were him |
| [6]γενεσίοις δὲ γενομένοις τοῦ ἡρῴδου ὠρχήσατο ἡ θυγάτηρ τῆς ἡρῳδιάδος ἐν τῶ μέσῳ καὶ ἤρεσεν τῶ ἡρῴδῃ, |
[6]When it was but at the house of the birth of Herodus danced the daughter of Herodia before the dinner guests and she pleased himself Herodus |
| [7]ὅθεν μεθ᾽ ὅρκου ὡμολόγησεν αὐτῇ δοῦναι ὃ ἐὰν αἰτήσηται. |
[7]Because of this in an oath he swore to her that he would give her anything that she would ask |
| [8]ἡ δὲ προβιβασθεῖσα ὑπὸ τῆς μητρὸς αὐτῆς, δός μοι, φησίν, ὧδε ἐπὶ πίνακι τὴν κεφαλὴν ἰωάννου τοῦ βαπτιστοῦ. |
[8]She but because instructed she had been by her mother she had said give me here in a dish the head of Yokhanan the Baptizer |
| [9]καὶ λυπηθεὶς ὁ βασιλεὺς διὰ τοὺς ὅρκους καὶ τοὺς συνανακειμένους ἐκέλευσεν δοθῆναι, |
[9]And it saddened him the king because of but the oath and the guests he commanded that it be given to her |
| [10]καὶ πέμψας ἀπεκεφάλισεν [τὸν] ἰωάννην ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ· |
[10]And he sent cutting off the head of Yokhanan in the house of prisoners |
| [11]καὶ ἠνέχθη ἡ κεφαλὴ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ πίνακι καὶ ἐδόθη τῶ κορασίῳ, καὶ ἤνεγκεν τῇ μητρὶ αὐτῆς. |
[11]And was brought his head in a dish and it was given to the girl and she brought it to her mother |
| [12]καὶ προσελθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἦραν τὸ πτῶμα καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτό[ν], καὶ ἐλθόντες ἀπήγγειλαν τῶ ἰησοῦ. |
[12]And they came his disciples they took his corpse they performed a burial and they came they informed Ieshu |
| [13]ἀκούσας δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς ἀνεχώρησεν ἐκεῖθεν ἐν πλοίῳ εἰς ἔρημον τόπον κατ᾽ ἰδίαν· καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ ὄχλοι ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῶ πεζῇ ἀπὸ τῶν πόλεων. |
[13]Ieshu but when heard He departed from there by ship to a region desert alone and when heard the crowds they went after him by land from the cities |
| [14]καὶ ἐξελθὼν εἶδεν πολὺν ὄχλον, καὶ ἐσπλαγχνίσθη ἐπ᾽ αὐτοῖς καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν τοὺς ἀρρώστους αὐτῶν. |
[14]And came down Ieshu seeing the crowds great and He was moved with pity for them and He healed their sick |
| [15]ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης προσῆλθον αὐτῶ οἱ μαθηταὶ λέγοντες, ἔρημός ἐστιν ὁ τόπος καὶ ἡ ὥρα ἤδη παρῆλθεν· ἀπόλυσον τοὺς ὄχλους, ἵνα ἀπελθόντες εἰς τὰς κώμας ἀγοράσωσιν ἑαυτοῖς βρώματα. |
[15]When it was but evening they came to join Him His disciples and they said to Him place a desert this is and the time has passed it dismiss the crowds of people so they will go to the villages and they will buy for themselves food |
| [16]ὁ δὲ [ἰησοῦς] εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, οὐ χρείαν ἔχουσιν ἀπελθεῖν· δότε αὐτοῖς ὑμεῖς φαγεῖν. |
[16]He but said to them not it is necessary for them to go give them you to eat |
| [17]οἱ δὲ λέγουσιν αὐτῶ, οὐκ ἔχομεν ὧδε εἰ μὴ πέντε ἄρτους καὶ δύο ἰχθύας. |
[17]They but they said to Him there is nothing with us here but five loaves and two fish |
| [18]ὁ δὲ εἶπεν, φέρετέ μοι ὧδε αὐτούς. |
[18]Said to them Ieshu bring them to Me here |
| [19]καὶ κελεύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνακλιθῆναι ἐπὶ τοῦ χόρτου, λαβὼν τοὺς πέντε ἄρτους καὶ τοὺς δύο ἰχθύας, ἀναβλέψας εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν εὐλόγησεν καὶ κλάσας ἔδωκεν τοῖς μαθηταῖς τοὺς ἄρτους οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ τοῖς ὄχλοις. |
[19]And He commanded the crowds to recline on the ground and He took those five loaves and two fish and gazed in Heaven and He blessed and He broke and He gave to His disciples and those things the disciples placed before the crowds |
| [20]καὶ ἔφαγον πάντες καὶ ἐχορτάσθησαν, καὶ ἦραν τὸ περισσεῦον τῶν κλασμάτων δώδεκα κοφίνους πλήρεις. |
[20]And they ate all of them and were satisfied and they collected the remainder of the fragments twelve baskets after they were filled |
| [21]οἱ δὲ ἐσθίοντες ἦσαν ἄνδρες ὡσεὶ πεντακισχίλιοι χωρὶς γυναικῶν καὶ παιδίων. |
[21]Those but men who ate being were thousand five apart from the women and children |
| [22]καὶ εὐθέως ἠνάγκασεν τοὺς μαθητὰς ἐμβῆναι εἰς τὸ πλοῖον καὶ προάγειν αὐτὸν εἰς τὸ πέραν, ἕως οὖ ἀπολύσῃ τοὺς ὄχλους. |
[22]And at once He compelled His disciples to embark the ship and they would go before Him to the other side while sent away He the crowds |
| [23]καὶ ἀπολύσας τοὺς ὄχλους ἀνέβη εἰς τὸ ὄρος κατ᾽ ἰδίαν προσεύξασθαι. ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης μόνος ἦν ἐκεῖ. |
[23]And when He had sent away the crowds He went up to a mountain alone to pray and when it was dark alone He was there |
| [24]τὸ δὲ πλοῖον ἤδη σταδίους πολλοὺς ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς ἀπεῖχεν, βασανιζόμενον ὑπὸ τῶν κυμάτων, ἦν γὰρ ἐναντίος ὁ ἄνεμος. |
[24]And the ship distant it was from land furlongs many while it was tossed greatly from the waves the wind for against it was |
| [25]τετάρτῃ δὲ φυλακῇ τῆς νυκτὸς ἦλθεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς περιπατῶν ἐπὶ τὴν θάλασσαν. |
[25]In the watch but fourth of the night came unto them Ieshu while He was walking on the water |
| [26]οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ ἰδόντες αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τῆς θαλάσσης περιπατοῦντα ἐταράχθησαν λέγοντες ὅτι φάντασμά ἐστιν, καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ φόβου ἔκραξαν. |
[26]And they saw Him His disciples that He was walking on the water and they were alarmed and saying they were that a vision it is false and from their fear they cried out |
| [27]εὐθὺς δὲ ἐλάλησεν [ὁ ἰησοῦς] αὐτοῖς λέγων, θαρσεῖτε, ἐγώ εἰμι· μὴ φοβεῖσθε. |
[27]He but Ieshu immediately spoke with them and He said take heart I I not you shall be afraid |
| [28]ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ αὐτῶ ὁ πέτρος εἶπεν, κύριε, εἰ σὺ εἶ, κέλευσόν με ἐλθεῖν πρὸς σὲ ἐπὶ τὰ ὕδατα· |
[28]And answered Kaypha and he said to Him my Lord if You are He command me to come unto You on the water |
| [29]ὁ δὲ εἶπεν, ἐλθέ. καὶ καταβὰς ἀπὸ τοῦ πλοίου [ὁ] πέτρος περιεπάτησεν ἐπὶ τὰ ὕδατα καὶ ἦλθεν πρὸς τὸν ἰησοῦν. |
[29]Ieshu but said to him come and went down Kaypha from the ship and he walked on the water to come to Ieshu |
| [30]βλέπων δὲ τὸν ἄνεμον [ἰσχυρὸν] ἐφοβήθη, καὶ ἀρξάμενος καταποντίζεσθαι ἔκραξεν λέγων, κύριε, σῶσόν με. |
[30]And when he saw the wind was violent he was afraid and he began to sink and he raised his voice and he said my Lord save me |
| [31]εὐθέως δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς ἐκτείνας τὴν χεῖρα ἐπελάβετο αὐτοῦ καὶ λέγει αὐτῶ, ὀλιγόπιστε, εἰς τί ἐδίστασας; |
[31]And son of a moment stretched out His hand our Lord and He held him and He said to him O' small of faith why? did you doubt |
| [32]καὶ ἀναβάντων αὐτῶν εἰς τὸ πλοῖον ἐκόπασεν ὁ ἄνεμος. |
[32]And when they came up into the ship stopped the wind |
| [33]οἱ δὲ ἐν τῶ πλοίῳ προσεκύνησαν αὐτῶ λέγοντες, ἀληθῶς θεοῦ υἱὸς εἶ. |
[33]And they came they who were in the ship they worshipped Him and they said truly The Son You are of Alaha |
| [34]καὶ διαπεράσαντες ἦλθον ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν εἰς γεννησαρέτ. |
[34]And they traveled and they came to the land of Genessar |
| [35]καὶ ἐπιγνόντες αὐτὸν οἱ ἄνδρες τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου ἀπέστειλαν εἰς ὅλην τὴν περίχωρον ἐκείνην, καὶ προσήνεγκαν αὐτῶ πάντας τοὺς κακῶς ἔχοντας, |
[35]And recognized Him the men of place that and they sent to all villages around them and they brought to Him all of them those who sick very were |
| [36]καὶ παρεκάλουν αὐτὸν ἵνα μόνον ἅψωνται τοῦ κρασπέδου τοῦ ἱματίου αὐτοῦ· καὶ ὅσοι ἥψαντο διεσώθησαν. |
[36]And beseeching they were from Him to touch even the edge only of His garment and those who touched were healed |
