| [1]καὶ ὅτε ἤγγισαν εἰς ἱεροσόλυμα καὶ ἦλθον εἰς βηθφαγὴ εἰς τὸ ὄρος τῶν ἐλαιῶν, τότε ἰησοῦς ἀπέστειλεν δύο μαθητὰς |
[1]AND when he drew nigh to Urishlem, and had come to Beth-phage, at the mount of Olives, Jeshu sent two of his disciples, |
| [2]λέγων αὐτοῖς, πορεύεσθε εἰς τὴν κώμην τὴν κατέναντι ὑμῶν, καὶ εὐθέως εὑρήσετε ὄνον δεδεμένην καὶ πῶλον μετ᾽ αὐτῆς· λύσαντες ἀγάγετέ μοι. |
[2]And said to them, Go to this village which is over against you, and you shall at once find an ass tied, and her colt with her; loose and bring [them] to me. |
| [3]καὶ ἐάν τις ὑμῖν εἴπῃ τι, ἐρεῖτε ὅτι ὁ κύριος αὐτῶν χρείαν ἔχει· εὐθὺς δὲ ἀποστελεῖ αὐτούς. |
[3]And if any one say ought to you, say to him that it is requested for our Lord, and immediately he will send them hither. |
| [4]τοῦτο δὲ γέγονεν ἵνα πληρωθῇ τὸ ῥηθὲν διὰ τοῦ προφήτου λέγοντος, |
[4]But all this was done that there should be fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet, who said, |
| [5]εἴπατε τῇ θυγατρὶ σιών, ἰδοὺ ὁ βασιλεύς σου ἔρχεταί σοι, πραῢς καὶ ἐπιβεβηκὼς ἐπὶ ὄνον, καὶ ἐπὶ πῶλον υἱὸν ὑποζυγίου. |
[5]Tell you the daughter of Tsheum, Behold, thy king cometh to thee, lowly, and riding on an ass, and on a colt the foal of an ass. |
| [6]πορευθέντες δὲ οἱ μαθηταὶ καὶ ποιήσαντες καθὼς συνέταξεν αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς |
[6]Then the disciples went, and did as Jeshu had commanded them; |
| [7]ἤγαγον τὴν ὄνον καὶ τὸν πῶλον, καὶ ἐπέθηκαν ἐπ᾽ αὐτῶν τὰ ἱμάτια, καὶ ἐπεκάθισεν ἐπάνω αὐτῶν. |
[7]And brought the ass and the colt, and laid upon the colt their clothes, and Jeshu rode upon him. |
| [8]ὁ δὲ πλεῖστος ὄχλος ἔστρωσαν ἑαυτῶν τὰ ἱμάτια ἐν τῇ ὁδῶ, ἄλλοι δὲ ἔκοπτον κλάδους ἀπὸ τῶν δένδρων καὶ ἐστρώννυον ἐν τῇ ὁδῶ. |
[8]And many of the crowds spread their vestments in the way; and others cut down branches from the trees, and strewed them in the way. |
| [9]οἱ δὲ ὄχλοι οἱ προάγοντες αὐτὸν καὶ οἱ ἀκολουθοῦντες ἔκραζον λέγοντες, ὡσαννὰ τῶ υἱῶ δαυίδ· εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου· ὡσαννὰ ἐν τοῖς ὑψίστοις. |
[9]But the throngs who went before him, and came after him, cried out and said, Ushana to the son of David! blessed be He who cometh in the name of the Lord! Ushana in the heights! |
| [10]καὶ εἰσελθόντος αὐτοῦ εἰς ἱεροσόλυμα ἐσείσθη πᾶσα ἡ πόλις λέγουσα, τίς ἐστιν οὖτος; |
[10]And when he had entered Urishlem, the whole city was commoved, and said, Who is this? |
| [11]οἱ δὲ ὄχλοι ἔλεγον, οὖτός ἐστιν ὁ προφήτης ἰησοῦς ὁ ἀπὸ ναζαρὲθ τῆς γαλιλαίας. |
[11]But the multitude answered, This is Jeshu, the prophet who is from Natsrath of Galila. |
| [12]καὶ εἰσῆλθεν ἰησοῦς εἰς τὸ ἱερόν, καὶ ἐξέβαλεν πάντας τοὺς πωλοῦντας καὶ ἀγοράζοντας ἐν τῶ ἱερῶ, καὶ τὰς τραπέζας τῶν κολλυβιστῶν κατέστρεψεν καὶ τὰς καθέδρας τῶν πωλούντων τὰς περιστεράς, |
[12]And Jeshu went into the temple of Aloha, and cast out all those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of those who sold doves; |
| [13]καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς, γέγραπται, ὁ οἶκός μου οἶκος προσευχῆς κληθήσεται, ὑμεῖς δὲ αὐτὸν ποιεῖτε σπήλαιον λῃστῶν. |
[13]And said to them, It is written, that my house shall the house of prayer be called, but ye have made it a den of thieves. |
| [14]καὶ προσῆλθον αὐτῶ τυφλοὶ καὶ χωλοὶ ἐν τῶ ἱερῶ, καὶ ἐθεράπευσεν αὐτούς. |
[14]And there came to him in the temple the blind and the lame, and he healed them. |
| [15]ἰδόντες δὲ οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς τὰ θαυμάσια ἃ ἐποίησεν καὶ τοὺς παῖδας τοὺς κράζοντας ἐν τῶ ἱερῶ καὶ λέγοντας, ὡσαννὰ τῶ υἱῶ δαυίδ, ἠγανάκτησαν |
[15]But when the chief priests and Pharishee saw the wondrous things which he did, and the children who were crying in the temple, and saying, Ushana to the son of David, they were displeased with them, |
| [16]καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῶ, ἀκούεις τί οὖτοι λέγουσιν; ὁ δὲ ἰησοῦς λέγει αὐτοῖς, ναί· οὐδέποτε ἀνέγνωτε ὅτι ἐκ στόματος νηπίων καὶ θηλαζόντων κατηρτίσω αἶνον; |
[16]Saying to him, Hearest thou what these say? Jeshu saith to them, Yes: have ye not read, that from the mouth of children and of babes thou hast prepared praise? |
| [17]καὶ καταλιπὼν αὐτοὺς ἐξῆλθεν ἔξω τῆς πόλεως εἰς βηθανίαν, καὶ ηὐλίσθη ἐκεῖ. |
[17]AND he abandoned them, and went forth without the city to Bethania, and lodged there. |
| [18]πρωῒ δὲ ἐπανάγων εἰς τὴν πόλιν ἐπείνασεν. |
[18]But in the early morn, as he returned to the city, he hungered: |
| [19]καὶ ἰδὼν συκῆν μίαν ἐπὶ τῆς ὁδοῦ ἦλθεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτήν, καὶ οὐδὲν εὖρεν ἐν αὐτῇ εἰ μὴ φύλλα μόνον, καὶ λέγει αὐτῇ, μηκέτι ἐκ σοῦ καρπὸς γένηται εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα. καὶ ἐξηράνθη παραχρῆμα ἡ συκῆ. |
[19]And he saw a certain fig-tree in the way, and came to it, but found nothing thereon but leaves only; and he said, Let there be no fruit upon thee again for ever. And immediately that fig-tree withered. |
| [20]καὶ ἰδόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ ἐθαύμασαν λέγοντες, πῶς παραχρῆμα ἐξηράνθη ἡ συκῆ; |
[20]And the disciples saw, and were astonished, saying, How in a moment is the fig-tree withered! |
| [21]ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἐὰν ἔχητε πίστιν καὶ μὴ διακριθῆτε, οὐ μόνον τὸ τῆς συκῆς ποιήσετε, ἀλλὰ κἂν τῶ ὄρει τούτῳ εἴπητε, ἄρθητι καὶ βλήθητι εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν, γενήσεται· |
[21]Jeshu answered and said to them, Amen I say to you, that if faith were in you, and you did not hesitate,ⓘ you should not only do [as] to this fig-tree, but also were you to say to this mountain, Be thou lifted up and fall into the sea, it should be done. |
| [22]καὶ πάντα ὅσα ἂν αἰτήσητε ἐν τῇ προσευχῇ πιστεύοντες λήμψεσθε. |
[22]And whatsoever you shall ask in prayer and shall believe, you shall obtain. |
| [23]καὶ ἐλθόντος αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸ ἱερὸν προσῆλθον αὐτῶ διδάσκοντι οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι τοῦ λαοῦ λέγοντες, ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιεῖς; καὶ τίς σοι ἔδωκεν τὴν ἐξουσίαν ταύτην; |
[23]And when Jeshu came to the temple, the chief priests and elders of the people approached him, while he taught, saying to him, By what authority doest thou these things, and who gave thee this authority? |
| [24]ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς, ἐρωτήσω ὑμᾶς κἀγὼ λόγον ἕνα, ὃν ἐὰν εἴπητέ μοι κἀγὼ ὑμῖν ἐρῶ ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιῶ· |
[24]Jeshu answered and said to them, I will also ask you one word; and if you will tell me, I will also tell you by what authority I do these [things]. |
| [25]τὸ βάπτισμα τὸ ἰωάννου πόθεν ἦν; ἐξ οὐρανοῦ ἢ ἐξ ἀνθρώπων; οἱ δὲ διελογίζοντο ἐν ἑαυτοῖς λέγοντες, ἐὰν εἴπωμεν, ἐξ οὐρανοῦ, ἐρεῖ ἡμῖν, διὰ τί οὗν οὐκ ἐπιστεύσατε αὐτῶ; |
[25]The baptism of Juchanon, whence is it, from heaven or from men? But they thought within themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven, he saith to us, Why did ye not believe him? |
| [26]ἐὰν δὲ εἴπωμεν, ἐξ ἀνθρώπων, φοβούμεθα τὸν ὄχλον, πάντες γὰρ ὡς προφήτην ἔχουσιν τὸν ἰωάννην. |
[26]And if we shall say, From men, we fear from the crowd; for all have regarded Juchanon as a prophet. |
| [27]καὶ ἀποκριθέντες τῶ ἰησοῦ εἶπαν, οὐκ οἴδαμεν. ἔφη αὐτοῖς καὶ αὐτός, οὐδὲ ἐγὼ λέγω ὑμῖν ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιῶ. |
[27]And they answered, saying to him, We know not: Jeshu saith to them, Also I tell not you by what authority I do these [things]. |
| [28]τί δὲ ὑμῖν δοκεῖ; ἄνθρωπος εἶχεν τέκνα δύο. καὶ προσελθὼν τῶ πρώτῳ εἶπεν, τέκνον, ὕπαγε σήμερον ἐργάζου ἐν τῶ ἀμπελῶνι. |
[28]BUT how doth [it] appear to you? a certain man had two sons; and he came to the elder, and said to him, My son, go to-day work in the vinery. |
| [29]ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν, οὐ θέλω, ὕστερον δὲ μεταμεληθεὶς ἀπῆλθεν. |
[29]But he answered and said, I am not willing: yet afterwards he relented, and went. |
| [30]προσελθὼν δὲ τῶ ἑτέρῳ εἶπεν ὡσαύτως. ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν, ἐγώ, κύριε· καὶ οὐκ ἀπῆλθεν. |
[30]He came to the other, and said likewise. He answered and said, I [will], my lord; yet went not. |
| [31]τίς ἐκ τῶν δύο ἐποίησεν τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πατρός; λέγουσιν, ὁ πρῶτος. λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς, ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι οἱ τελῶναι καὶ αἱ πόρναι προάγουσιν ὑμᾶς εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ. |
[31]Which of these two did the will of his father? They say to him, The elder. Jeshu saith to them, Amen I tell you, the tribute-takers and harlots go before you into the kingdom of Aloha. |
| [32]ἦλθεν γὰρ ἰωάννης πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐν ὁδῶ δικαιοσύνης, καὶ οὐκ ἐπιστεύσατε αὐτῶ· οἱ δὲ τελῶναι καὶ αἱ πόρναι ἐπίστευσαν αὐτῶ· ὑμεῖς δὲ ἰδόντες οὐδὲ μετεμελήθητε ὕστερον τοῦ πιστεῦσαι αὐτῶ. |
[32]For Juchanon came to you in the way of righteousness; and you believed him not. But the tribute-takers and harlots believed him: but you neither when you saw [him, nor] afterwards, repented, that you might believe him. |
| [33]ἄλλην παραβολὴν ἀκούσατε. ἄνθρωπος ἦν οἰκοδεσπότης ὅστις ἐφύτευσεν ἀμπελῶνα καὶ φραγμὸν αὐτῶ περιέθηκεν καὶ ὤρυξεν ἐν αὐτῶ ληνὸν καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν πύργον, καὶ ἐξέδετο αὐτὸν γεωργοῖς, καὶ ἀπεδήμησεν. |
[33]Hear another comparison: A certain man was a house-lord; and he planted a vinery, and surrounded it with an hedge, and dug a wine-press in it, and built in it a tower, and had it taken by labourers, and journeyed. |
| [34]ὅτε δὲ ἤγγισεν ὁ καιρὸς τῶν καρπῶν, ἀπέστειλεν τοὺς δούλους αὐτοῦ πρὸς τοὺς γεωργοὺς λαβεῖν τοὺς καρποὺς αὐτοῦ. |
[34]And when the time of fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might send him of the fruits of his vinery. |
| [35]καὶ λαβόντες οἱ γεωργοὶ τοὺς δούλους αὐτοῦ ὃν μὲν ἔδειραν, ὃν δὲ ἀπέκτειναν, ὃν δὲ ἐλιθοβόλησαν. |
[35]And the husband-men took his servants, and beat some, and stoned some, and killed others. |
| [36]πάλιν ἀπέστειλεν ἄλλους δούλους πλείονας τῶν πρώτων, καὶ ἐποίησαν αὐτοῖς ὡσαύτως. |
[36]And again he sent other servants more than the first, and they acted towards them likewise: |
| [37]ὕστερον δὲ ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ λέγων, ἐντραπήσονται τὸν υἱόν μου. |
[37]Last, he sent to them his son, saying, Now will they be ashamed from my son. |
| [38]οἱ δὲ γεωργοὶ ἰδόντες τὸν υἱὸν εἶπον ἐν ἑαυτοῖς, οὖτός ἐστιν ὁ κληρονόμος· δεῦτε ἀποκτείνωμεν αὐτὸν καὶ σχῶμεν τὴν κληρονομίαν αὐτοῦ. |
[38]But the husbandmen, when they saw the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and take the inheritance. |
| [39]καὶ λαβόντες αὐτὸν ἐξέβαλον ἔξω τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος καὶ ἀπέκτειναν. |
[39]And they seized and cast him without the vinery, and killed him. |
| [40]ὅταν οὗν ἔλθῃ ὁ κύριος τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος, τί ποιήσει τοῖς γεωργοῖς ἐκείνοις; |
[40]When the lord of the vinery, therefore, cometh, what will he do to these husbandmen? |
| [41]λέγουσιν αὐτῶ, κακοὺς κακῶς ἀπολέσει αὐτούς, καὶ τὸν ἀμπελῶνα ἐκδώσεται ἄλλοις γεωργοῖς, οἵτινες ἀποδώσουσιν αὐτῶ τοὺς καρποὺς ἐν τοῖς καιροῖς αὐτῶν. |
[41]They say to him, Most miserably will he destroy them, and the vinery will he cause to be held by other labourers, [even] such as will give him the fruits in their seasons. |
| [42]λέγει αὐτοῖς ὁ ἰησοῦς, οὐδέποτε ἀνέγνωτε ἐν ταῖς γραφαῖς, λίθον ὃν ἀπεδοκίμασαν οἱ οἰκοδομοῦντες οὖτος ἐγενήθη εἰς κεφαλὴν γωνίας· παρὰ κυρίου ἐγένετο αὕτη, καὶ ἔστιν θαυμαστὴ ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς ἡμῶν; |
[42]Jeshu saith to them, Have you not read in the scripture, that the stone which the builders rejected, this is become the head of the corner? By the Lord was this done, and it is wondrous in our eyes. |
| [43]διὰ τοῦτο λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἀρθήσεται ἀφ᾽ ὑμῶν ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ δοθήσεται ἔθνει ποιοῦντι τοὺς καρποὺς αὐτῆς. |
[43]On this account I tell you, that the kingdom of Aloha is taken from you, and shall be given to a people who will yield fruits. |
| [44][[καὶ ὁ πεσὼν ἐπὶ τὸν λίθον τοῦτον συνθλασθήσεται· ἐφ᾽ ὃν δ᾽ ἂν πέσῃ λικμήσει αὐτόν.]] |
[44]And whosoever shall fall upon this stone shall be broken; but every one upon whom it shall fall, it will scatter [him]. |
| [45]καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ φαρισαῖοι τὰς παραβολὰς αὐτοῦ ἔγνωσαν ὅτι περὶ αὐτῶν λέγει· |
[45]And when the chief priests and Pharishee heard his comparisons, they knew that concerning themselves he had spoken. |
| [46]καὶ ζητοῦντες αὐτὸν κρατῆσαι ἐφοβήθησαν τοὺς ὄχλους, ἐπεὶ εἰς προφήτην αὐτὸν εἶχον. |
[46]And they sought to apprehend him, but feared the people, because as a prophet they regarded him. |
