| [1]And NaomiH5281 had a kinsmanH4129[H8675][H3045][H8794] of her husband'sH376, a mightyH1368 manH376 of wealthH2428, of the familyH4940 of ElimelechH458; and his nameH8034 was BoazH1162. |
[1]Then Naomi's husband had a kinsman, one of great power of the family of Elimelech, and his name was Boaz. |
| [2]And RuthH7327 the MoabitessH4125 saidH559[H8799] unto NaomiH5281, Let me now goH3212[H8799] to the fieldH7704, and gleanH3950[H8762] ears of cornH7641 afterH310 him in whose sightH5869 I shall findH4672[H8799] graceH2580. And she saidH559[H8799] unto her, GoH3212[H8798], my daughterH1323. |
[2]And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, I pray thee, Let me go to the field, and gather ears of corn after him, in whose sight I find favor. And she said unto her, Go my daughter. |
| [3]And she wentH3212[H8799], and cameH935[H8799], and gleanedH3950[H8762] in the fieldH7704 afterH310 the reapersH7114[H8802]: and her hapH4745 was to lightH7136[H8799] on a partH2513 of the fieldH7704 belonging unto BoazH1162, who was of the kindredH4940 of ElimelechH458. |
[3]And she went, and came and gleaned in the field after the reapers, and it came to pass, that she met with the portion of the field of Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech. |
| [4]And, behold, BoazH1162 cameH935[H8802] from BethlehemH1035, and saidH559[H8799] unto the reapersH7114[H8802], The LORDH3068 be with you. And they answeredH559[H8799] him, The LORDH3068 blessH1288 theeH8762. |
[4]And behold, Boaz came from Beth-lehem, and said unto the reapers, The Lord be with you: and they answered him, The Lord bless thee. |
| [5]Then saidH559[H8799] BoazH1162 unto his servantH5288 that was setH5324[H8737] over the reapersH7114[H8802], Whose damsel is thisH5291? |
[5]Then said Boaz unto his servant that was appointed over the reapers, Whose maid is this? |
| [6]And the servantH5288 that was setH5324[H8737] over the reapersH7114[H8802] answeredH6030[H8799] and saidH559[H8799], It is the MoabitishH4125 damselH5291 that came backH7725[H8804] with NaomiH5281 out of the countryH7704 of MoabH4124: |
[6]And the servant that was appointed over the reapers, answered, and said, It is the Moabitish maid, that came with Naomi out of the country of Moab: |
| [7]And she saidH559[H8799], I pray you, let me gleanH3950[H8762] and gatherH622[H8804] afterH310 the reapersH7114[H8802] among the sheavesH6016: so she cameH935[H8799], and hath continuedH5975[H8799] evenH227 from the morningH1242 until now, that she tarriedH3427[H8800] a littleH4592 in the houseH1004. |
[7]And she said unto us, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued from that time in the morning unto now, save that she tarried a little in the house. |
| [8]Then saidH559[H8799] BoazH1162 unto RuthH7327, HearestH8085[H8804] thou not, my daughterH1323? GoH3212[H8799] not to gleanH3950[H8800] in anotherH312 fieldH7704, neither goH5674[H8799] from hence, but abideH1692[H8799] here fast by my maidensH5291: |
[8]Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou, my daughter? Go to none other field to gather, neither go from hence: but abide here by my maidens. |
| [9]Let thine eyesH5869 be on the fieldH7704 that they do reapH7114[H8799], and goH1980[H8804] thou afterH310 them: have I not chargedH6680[H8765] the young menH5288 that they shall not touchH5060[H8800] thee? and when thou art athirstH6770[H8804], goH1980[H8804] unto the vesselsH3627, and drinkH8354[H8804] of that which the young menH5288 have drawnH7579.[H8799] |
[9]Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after the maidens. Have I not charged the servants, that they touch thee not? Moreover when thou art a thirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the servants have drawn. |
| [10]Then she fellH5307[H8799] on her faceH6440, and bowedH7812[H8691] herself to the groundH776, and saidH559[H8799] unto him, Why have I foundH4672[H8804] graceH2580 in thine eyesH5869, that thou shouldest take knowledgeH5234[H8687] of me, seeing I am a strangerH5237? |
[10]Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, How have I found favor in thine eyes, that thou shouldest know me, seeing I am a stranger? |
| [11]And BoazH1162 answeredH6030[H8799] and saidH559[H8799] unto her, It hath fullyH5046[H8715] been shewedH5046[H8717] me, all that thou hast doneH6213[H8804] unto thy mother in lawH2545 sinceH310 the deathH4194 of thine husbandH376: and how thou hast leftH5800[H8799] thy fatherH1 and thy motherH517, and the landH776 of thy nativityH4138, and art comeH3212[H8799] unto a peopleH5971 which thou knewestH3045[H8804] not heretoforeH8543.[H8032] |
[11]And Boaz answered, and said unto her, All is told and showed me that thou hast done unto thy mother in law, since the death of thine husband, and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land where thou wast born, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not in time past. |
| [12]The LORDH3068 recompenseH7999[H8762] thy workH6467, and a fullH8003 rewardH4909 be given thee of the LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478, under whose wingsH3671 thou art comeH935[H8804] to trustH2620.[H8800] |
[12]The Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust. |
| [13]Then she saidH559[H8799], Let me findH4672[H8799] favourH2580 in thy sightH5869, my lordH113; for that thou hast comfortedH5162[H8765] me, and for that thou hast spokenH1696[H8765] friendlyH3820 unto thine handmaidH8198, though I be not like unto oneH259 of thine handmaidensH8198. |
[13]Then she said, Let me find favor in thy sight, my lord: for thou hast comforted me, and spoken comfortably unto thy maid, though I be not like to one of thy maids. |
| [14]And BoazH1162 saidH559[H8799] unto her, At mealtimeH6256[H400] comeH5066[H8798] thou hitherH1988, and eatH398[H8804] of the breadH3899, and dipH2881[H8804] thy morselH6595 in the vinegarH2558. And she satH3427[H8799] besideH6654 the reapersH7114[H8802]: and he reachedH6642[H8799] her parchedH7039 corn, and she did eatH398[H8799], and was sufficedH7646[H8799], and leftH3498.[H8686] |
[14]And Boaz said unto her, At the mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers, and he reached her parched corn: and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left thereof. |
| [15]And when she was risen upH6965[H8799] to gleanH3950[H8763], BoazH1162 commandedH6680[H8762] his young menH5288, sayingH559[H8800], Let her gleanH3950[H8762] even among the sheavesH6016, and reproachH3637 her notH8686: |
[15]And when she arose to glean, Boaz commanded his servants, saying, Let her gather among the sheaves, and do not rebuke her. |
| [16]And let fallH7997[H8799] also some of the handfulsH6653 of purposeH7997[H8800] for her, and leaveH5800[H8804] them, that she may gleanH3950[H8765] them, and rebukeH1605 her notH8799. |
[16]Also let fall some of the sheaves for her, and let it lie, that she may gather it up, and rebuke her not. |
| [17]So she gleanedH3950[H8762] in the fieldH7704 until evenH6153, and beat outH2251[H8799] that she had gleanedH3950[H8765]: and it was about an ephahH374 of barleyH8184. |
[17]So she gleaned in the field until evening, and she threshed that she had gathered, and it was about an ephah of barley. |
| [18]And she took it upH5375[H8799], and wentH935[H8799] into the cityH5892: and her mother in lawH2545 sawH7200[H8799] what she had gleanedH3950[H8765]: and she brought forthH3318[H8686], and gaveH5414[H8799] to her that she had reservedH3498[H8689] after she was sufficedH7648. |
[18]And she took it up, and went into the city, and her mother in law saw what she had gathered: Also she took forth, and gave to her that which she had reserved, when she was sufficed. |
| [19]And her mother in lawH2545 saidH559[H8799] unto her, Where hast thou gleanedH3950[H8765] to dayH3117? and whereH375 wroughtestH6213[H8804] thou? blessedH1288[H8803] be he that did take knowledgeH5234[H8688] of thee. And she shewedH5046[H8686] her mother in lawH2545 with whom she had wroughtH6213[H8804], and saidH559[H8799], The man'sH376 nameH8034 with whom I wroughtH6213[H8804] to dayH3117 is BoazH1162. |
[19]Then her mother in law said unto her, Where hast thou gleaned today? And where wroughtest thou? Blessed be he, that knew thee. And she showed her mother in law, with whom she had wrought, and said, The man's name, with whom I wrought today, is Boaz. |
| [20]And NaomiH5281 saidH559[H8799] unto her daughter in lawH3618, BlessedH1288[H8803] be he of the LORDH3068, who hath not left offH5800[H8804] his kindnessH2617 to the livingH2416 and to the deadH4191[H8801]. And NaomiH5281 saidH559[H8799] unto her, The manH376 is near of kinH7138 unto us, one of our next kinsmenH1350.[H8802] |
[20]And Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be he of the Lord: for he ceaseth not to do good to the living and to the dead. Again Naomi said unto her, The man is near unto us, and of our affinity. |
| [21]And RuthH7327 the MoabitessH4125 saidH559[H8799], He saidH559[H8804] unto me also, Thou shalt keep fastH1692[H8799] by my young menH5288, until they have endedH3615[H8765] all my harvestH7105. |
[21]And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said also certainly unto me, Thou shalt be with my servants, until they have ended all mine harvest. |
| [22]And NaomiH5281 saidH559[H8799] unto RuthH7327 her daughter in lawH3618, It is goodH2896, my daughterH1323, that thou go outH3318[H8799] with his maidensH5291, that they meetH6293[H8799] thee not in any otherH312 fieldH7704. |
[22]And Naomi answered unto Ruth her daughter in law, It is best, my daughter, that thou go out with his maids, that they meet thee not in another field. |
| [23]So she kept fastH1692[H8799] by the maidensH5291 of BoazH1162 to gleanH3950[H8763] unto the endH3615[H8800] of barleyH8184 harvestH7105 and of wheatH2406 harvestH7105; and dweltH3427[H8799] with her mother in lawH2545. |
[23]Then she kept her by the maids of Boaz, to gather unto the end of barley harvest, and of wheat harvest, and dwelt with her mother in law. |
