[1]Run after love and be zealous for gifts of The Spirit all the more but that you may prophesy |
[1]Follow [then] after love, and be emulous of the gifts of the Spirit, but especially that you may prophesy. |
[2]Whoever speaks for in languages not has been to children of men speaking but to Alaha no for person understands what he speaks but by The Spirit mysteries he speaks |
[2]For whoever speaketh in a tongue speaketh not to men but to Aloha; for man heareth nothing that he speaketh but in the Spirit he speaketh mysteries. |
[3]He but who prophesies to children of men speaks edification and encouragement and comfort |
[3]But he who prophesieth speaketh to men, edification and encouragement and consolation. |
[4]He who speaks in languages himself is building up and he who prophesies the church builds up |
[4]He who speaketh in a tongue himself edifieth, and he who prophesieth the church edifieth. |
[5]Wish I but that you all may speak in languages all the more but that you may prophesy greater he is for who prophesies than he who speaks in languages if unless he translates if but he translates the church he edifies |
[5]But I would that all of you could speak with tongues, but especially that you could prophesy. For greater is he who prophesieth than he who speaketh with tongues, unless he interpret. But if he interpret, he edifieth the church. |
[6]And now my brethren if I come to you and I shall speak with you in languages what? do benefit I you unless if I shall speak with you either in revelation or in knowledge or in prophecy or in teaching |
[6]And now, my brethren, if I come to you and speak with you in tongues, what do I profit you, unless I speak with you, or by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophecy, or by doctrine? |
[7]Even things for those there is not in which life and giving sound if a flute or harp if a distinction not they make between a tone to another how? is known anything that is played or anything that is harped |
[7]For those [things] also which have no life in them, and give voice, whether pipe or harp, if distinction be not made between a tone and its fellow, how can it be known what is sung, or what is played?ⓘ |
[8]And if a horn call a sound that not is distinguished who? will be prepared for battle |
[8]And if the trumpet call a voice which is not distinguished, who will prepare for the battle? |
[9]In this way also you if you will say words in languages and not you will be translating how? is known anything that say you you will be yourselves as if one who with the air speaking you are |
[9]So you also, if you speak the word in a tongue, and there be no interpretation, how will it be known what you say? Will you not be as if speaking with the air? |
[10]Behold for kinds of languages many are in the world and there is not one of them without sound |
[10]For, behold, there are many kinds of tongues in the world, and not one of them hath not signification;ⓘ |
[11]And if not know I the import of the sound am I myself a foreigner to him who speaks and also he who speaks is himself to me a foreigner |
[11]But if I do not know the power of the voice, I become as a barbarian to him who speaks, and he also who speaks is a barbarian to me. |
[12]In this way also you because zealous you are of the gifts of The Spirit for the edification of the church seek to abound |
[12]So also you, while you are emulous of the gifts of the Spirit for the edification of the church, seek that you may excel. |
[13]And he who speaks in languages let him pray to translate |
[13]And let him who speaketh with tongues pray that he may interpret. |
[14]If it is for I should pray in languages my spirit is praying my understanding but without fruits is |
[14]For if I am praying in a tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my mind is without fruit. |
[15]What? therefore shall I do I shall pray with my spirit and I shall pray also with my understanding and I shall sing with my spirit and I shall sing also with my understanding |
[15]What shall I do then? I will pray with my spirit, and I will pray with my mind; and I will sing with my spirit, and I will sing with my mind. |
[16]And if otherwise if say a blessing you in the spirit he who fills the place of the unlearned how? shall he say Amen for your giving of thanks your because what said you not he knew |
[16]Otherwise, if thou bless with the spirit, how shall he who filleth the place of the unlearnedⓘ say Amen to thy thanksgiving? for he knoweth not what thou sayest. |
[17]You for well bless you but your neighbor not is edified |
[17]For thou blessest well, but thy neighbour is not edified. |
[18]Thank I to Alaha that more than all of you speaking I am in languages |
[18]I praise Aloha that more than all of you I speak with tongues; |
[19]But in the church willing I am that five words in my understanding I should speak that also others I may instruct rather than ten thousand words in languages |
[19]But in the church I would rather speak five words with my mind, that others also may learn, than ten thousand words in a tongue. |
[20]My brothers not be you children in your intellects but to evil be infants and in your intellects be fully mature |
[20]MY brethren, be not children in your minds, but in evils be you babes, and in your minds be perfect. |
[21]In The Law it is written "with speech foreign and with language another I shall speak with it with people this neither in this way shall they hear Me says the Lord |
[21]In the law it is written, In a strange language and in another tongue will I speak with this people; yet so will they not hear me, saith the Lord. |
[22]So then languages for a sign are established not for believers but for those who not believe prophecy but not was to those who not believe but to those who believe |
[22]Hence, tongues are appointed for a sign, not to the believing, but to those who believe not: but prophecy, not for those who believe not, but for those who believe. |
[23]If it occurs therefore assemble all the church and all of them in languages shall speak and shall enter the uninitiated or those who not believe not? will they say that these have gone insane themselves |
[23]If then all the church be assembled, and all of you speak with tongues, and the ignorant, or those who believe not enter, will they not say you are insane? |
[24]And if all of you you will prophesy and enter to you the unlearned or one who not believes he is searched out from all of you and they are reproved by all of you |
[24]And if all should prophesy, and there come in to you the ignorant, or of those who believe not, he is convictedⓘ by you all, and reproved by you all; |
[25]And the secrets of the heart are revealed and then he will fall on on his face and will worship to Alaha and he will say truly Alaha is in you |
[25]And the secrets of his heart are revealed; and then will he fall upon his face and worship Aloha, and say, Truly Aloha is in you. |
[26]Say I therefore my brethren that whenever gather you to whom of you ever has a psalm let him speak and who ever has a teaching and who ever has a revelation and who ever has a language and who ever has a translation all things for edification let be |
[26]I say then, my brethren, that when you are assembled, if any one of you hath a psalm, let him speak; and [so too] he who hath doctrine, and he who hath a revelation, and he who hath a tongue, and he who hath the interpretation: let all be done unto edification. |
[27]And if in languages men shall speak two let speak and when more three and each one let them speak and one let translate |
[27]And if with a tongue any one speak, two shall speak, or at most three, and each shall [separately] speak, and one interpret. |
[28]And if there is not a translator let be silent him in the church him who speaks in a language and only to himself and to Alaha let him speak |
[28]And if there be no one who interpreteth, let him who speaketh with a tongue be silent in the church, and between himself and Aloha let him speak. |
[29]The prophets but two or three let speak and the others let discern |
[29]Let the prophets speak, two or three, and let the rest discern. |
[30]And if to another is revealed a thing while sitting the first let be quiet him |
[30]And if [somewhat] to another be revealed while sitting, let the first be silent. |
[31]Can you for all of you of each one prophesy that every person may teach and every person may be comforted |
[31]For one by one you can all prophesy, that each may learn, and each be edified. |
[32]The spirit for of the prophet to the prophet is subject |
[32]For the spirit of the prophets to the prophets is subject. |
[33]Because Alaha not is of tumult but of peace as that in all the assemblies of the saints |
[33]Because Aloha is not of tumult, but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. |
[34]Your women in the assemblies let be silent not for it is allowed for them to speak but to be in subjection just as also The written Law says |
[34]LET your women in the church be silent; for it is not permitted to them to speak, but to be subject, as also saith the law. |
[35]And if anything they wish to learn in their houses let them ask their husbands a shame is for that women in the assembly would speak |
[35]But if any wish to learn, in their houses let them ask their husbands; for it is a shame for a woman to speak in the church. |
[36]Or interrog. from you? it came forth the word of Alaha or unto you it only arrived |
[36]Was it from you that the word of Aloha went forth? Or did it come only to you? |
[37]If a man but of you thinks that a prophet he is or of The Spirit he is let him know these things that write I to you that the commandments they are of our Lord |
[37]But if any man of you think that he is a prophet, or that he is spiritual,ⓘ let him acknowledge these which I write to you to be the commandments of our Lord. |
[38]If a man but not knows not let him know |
[38]But if any man know not, let him not know. |
[39]Be zealous therefore my brothers to prophesy and to speak in languages not forbid |
[39]Be emulous, therefore, my brethren, to prophesy, and to speak with tongues forbid not; |
[40]Everything but with decorum and with order let be done |
[40]But let every thing be done with decency and in order. |
