[1]καὶ ἐγενήθη ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις καὶ συναθροίζονται ἀλλόφυλοι εἰς πόλεμον ἐπὶ ισραηλ καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ισραηλ εἰς ἀπάντησιν αὐτοῖς εἰς πόλεμον καὶ παρεμβάλλουσιν ἐπὶ αβενεζερ καὶ οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι παρεμβάλλουσιν ἐν αφεκ |
| [2]And the PhilistinesH6430 put themselves in arrayH6186[H8799] againstH7125[H8800] IsraelH3478: and when they joinedH5203[H8799] battleH4421, IsraelH3478 was smittenH5062[H8735] beforeH6440 the PhilistinesH6430: and they slewH5221[H8686] of the armyH4634 in the fieldH7704 about fourH702 thousandH505 menH376. |
[2]καὶ παρατάσσονται οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι εἰς πόλεμον ἐπὶ ισραηλ καὶ ἔκλινεν ὁ πόλεμος καὶ ἔπταισεν ἀνὴρ ισραηλ ἐνώπιον ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ἐπλήγησαν ἐν τῇ παρατάξει ἐν ἀγρῷ τέσσαρες χιλιάδες ἀνδρῶν |
| [3]And when the peopleH5971 were comeH935[H8799] into the campH4264, the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478 saidH559[H8799], Wherefore hath the LORDH3068 smittenH5062[H8804] us to dayH3117 beforeH6440 the PhilistinesH6430? Let us fetchH3947[H8799] the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of the LORDH3068 out of ShilohH7887 unto us, that, when it comethH935[H8799] amongH7130 us, it may saveH3467[H8686] us out of the handH3709 of our enemiesH341.[H8802] |
[3]καὶ ἦλθεν ὁ λαὸς εἰς τὴν παρεμβολήν καὶ εἶπαν οἱ πρεσβύτεροι ισραηλ κατὰ τί ἔπταισεν ἡμᾶς κύριος σήμερον ἐνώπιον ἀλλοφύλων λάβωμεν τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν ἐκ σηλωμ καὶ ἐξελθέτω ἐν μέσῳ ἡμῶν καὶ σώσει ἡμᾶς ἐκ χειρὸς ἐχθρῶν ἡμῶν |
| [4]So the peopleH5971 sentH7971[H8799] to ShilohH7887, that they might bringH5375[H8799] from thence the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, which dwellethH3427[H8802] between the cherubimsH3742: and the twoH8147 sonsH1121 of EliH5941, HophniH2652 and PhinehasH6372, were there with the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of GodH430. |
[4]καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ λαὸς εἰς σηλωμ καὶ αἴρουσιν ἐκεῖθεν τὴν κιβωτὸν κυρίου καθημένου χερουβιμ καὶ ἀμφότεροι οἱ υἱοὶ ηλι μετὰ τῆς κιβωτοῦ οφνι καὶ φινεες |
| [5]And when the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of the LORDH3068 cameH935[H8800] into the campH4264, all IsraelH3478 shoutedH7321[H8686] with a greatH1419 shoutH8643, so that the earthH776 rang againH1949.[H8735] |
[5]καὶ ἐγενήθη ὡς ἦλθεν κιβωτὸς κυρίου εἰς τὴν παρεμβολήν καὶ ἀνέκραξεν πᾶς ισραηλ φωνῇ μεγάλῃ καὶ ἤχησεν ἡ γῆ |
| [6]And when the PhilistinesH6430 heardH8085[H8799] the noiseH6963 of the shoutH8643, they saidH559[H8799], What meaneth the noiseH6963 of this greatH1419 shoutH8643 in the campH4264 of the HebrewsH5680? And they understoodH3045[H8799] that the arkH727 of the LORDH3068 was comeH935[H8804] into the campH4264. |
[6]καὶ ἤκουσαν οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι τῆς κραυγῆς καὶ εἶπον οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι τίς ἡ κραυγὴ ἡ μεγάλη αὕτη ἐν παρεμβολῇ τῶν εβραίων καὶ ἔγνωσαν ὅτι κιβωτὸς κυρίου ἥκει εἰς τὴν παρεμβολήν |
| [7]And the PhilistinesH6430 were afraidH3372[H8799], for they saidH559[H8804], GodH430 is comeH935[H8804] into the campH4264. And they saidH559[H8799], WoeH188 unto us! for there hath not been such a thing heretoforeH865.[H8032] |
[7]καὶ ἐφοβήθησαν οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι καὶ εἶπον οὗτοι οἱ θεοὶ ἥκασιν πρὸς αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν παρεμβολήν οὐαὶ ἡμῖν ἐξελοῦ ἡμᾶς κύριε σήμερον ὅτι οὐ γέγονεν τοιαύτη ἐχθὲς καὶ τρίτην |
| [8]WoeH188 unto us! who shall deliverH5337[H8686] us out of the handH3027 of these mightyH117 GodsH430? these are the GodsH430 that smoteH5221[H8688] the EgyptiansH4714 with all the plaguesH4347 in the wildernessH4057. |
[8]οὐαὶ ἡμῖν τίς ἐξελεῖται ἡμᾶς ἐκ χειρὸς τῶν θεῶν τῶν στερεῶν τούτων οὗτοι οἱ θεοὶ οἱ πατάξαντες τὴν αἴγυπτον ἐν πάσῃ πληγῇ καὶ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ |

[9]κραταιοῦσθε καὶ γίνεσθε εἰς ἄνδρας ἀλλόφυλοι μήποτε δουλεύσητε τοῖς εβραίοις καθὼς ἐδούλευσαν ἡμῖν καὶ ἔσεσθε εἰς ἄνδρας καὶ πολεμήσατε αὐτούς |
| [10]And the PhilistinesH6430 foughtH3898[H8735], and IsraelH3478 was smittenH5062[H8735], and they fledH5127[H8799] every manH376 into his tentH168: and there was a veryH3966 greatH1419 slaughterH4347; for there fellH5307[H8799] of IsraelH3478 thirtyH7970 thousandH505 footmenH7273. |
[10]καὶ ἐπολέμησαν αὐτούς καὶ πταίει ἀνὴρ ισραηλ καὶ ἔφυγεν ἕκαστος εἰς σκήνωμα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐγένετο πληγὴ μεγάλη σφόδρα καὶ ἔπεσαν ἐξ ισραηλ τριάκοντα χιλιάδες ταγμάτων |
| [11]And the arkH727 of GodH430 was takenH3947[H8738]; and the twoH8147 sonsH1121 of EliH5941, HophniH2652 and PhinehasH6372, were slainH4191.[H8804] |
[11]καὶ κιβωτὸς θεοῦ ἐλήμφθη καὶ ἀμφότεροι υἱοὶ ηλι ἀπέθανον οφνι καὶ φινεες |
| [12]And there ranH7323[H8799] a manH376 of BenjaminH1144 out of the armyH4634, and cameH935[H8799] to ShilohH7887 the same dayH3117 with his clothesH4055 rentH7167[H8803], and with earthH127 upon his headH7218. |
[12]καὶ ἔδραμεν ἀνὴρ ιεμιναῖος ἐκ τῆς παρατάξεως καὶ ἦλθεν εἰς σηλωμ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ καὶ τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦ διερρηγότα καὶ γῆ ἐπὶ τῆς κεφαλῆς αὐτοῦ |

[13]καὶ ἦλθεν καὶ ἰδοὺ ηλι ἐκάθητο ἐπὶ τοῦ δίφρου παρὰ τὴν πύλην σκοπεύων τὴν ὁδόν ὅτι ἦν ἡ καρδία αὐτοῦ ἐξεστηκυῖα περὶ τῆς κιβωτοῦ τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ὁ ἄνθρωπος εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὴν πόλιν ἀπαγγεῖλαι καὶ ἀνεβόησεν ἡ πόλις |
| [14]And when EliH5941 heardH8085[H8799] the noiseH6963 of the cryingH6818, he saidH559[H8799], What meaneth the noiseH6963 of this tumultH1995? And the manH376 cameH935[H8799] in hastilyH4116[H8765], and toldH5046[H8686] EliH5941. |
[14]καὶ ἤκουσεν ηλι τὴν φωνὴν τῆς βοῆς καὶ εἶπεν τίς ἡ βοὴ τῆς φωνῆς ταύτης καὶ ὁ ἄνθρωπος σπεύσας εἰσῆλθεν καὶ ἀπήγγειλεν τῷ ηλι |
| [15]Now EliH5941 was ninetyH8673 and eightH8083 yearsH8141 oldH1121; and his eyesH5869 were dimH6965[H8804], that he couldH3201[H8804] not seeH7200.[H8800] |
[15]καὶ ηλι υἱὸς ἐνενήκοντα ἐτῶν καὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτοῦ ἐπανέστησαν καὶ οὐκ ἔβλεπεν καὶ εἶπεν ηλὶ τοῖς ἀνδράσιν τοῖς περιεστηκόσιν αὐτῷ τίς ἡ φωνὴ τοῦ ἤχους τούτου |

[16]καὶ ὁ ἀνὴρ σπεύσας προσῆλθεν πρὸς ηλι καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ ἥκων ἐκ τῆς παρεμβολῆς κἀγὼ πέφευγα ἐκ τῆς παρατάξεως σήμερον καὶ εἶπεν τί τὸ γεγονὸς ῥῆμα τέκνον |
| [17]And the messengerH1319[H8764] answeredH6030[H8799] and saidH559[H8799], IsraelH3478 is fledH5127[H8804] beforeH6440 the PhilistinesH6430, and there hath been also a greatH1419 slaughterH4046 among the peopleH5971, and thy twoH8147 sonsH1121 also, HophniH2652 and PhinehasH6372, are deadH4191[H8804], and the arkH727 of GodH430 is takenH3947.[H8738] |
[17]καὶ ἀπεκρίθη τὸ παιδάριον καὶ εἶπεν πέφευγεν ἀνὴρ ισραηλ ἐκ προσώπου ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ἐγένετο πληγὴ μεγάλη ἐν τῷ λαῷ καὶ ἀμφότεροι οἱ υἱοί σου τεθνήκασιν καὶ ἡ κιβωτὸς τοῦ θεοῦ ἐλήμφθη |
| [18]And it came to pass, when he made mentionH2142[H8687] of the arkH727 of GodH430, that he fellH5307[H8799] from off the seatH3678 backwardH322 byH1157 the sideH3027 of the gateH8179, and his neckH4665 brakeH7665[H8735], and he diedH4191[H8799]: for he was an oldH2204[H8804] manH376, and heavyH3513[H8804]. And he had judgedH8199[H8804] IsraelH3478 fortyH705 yearsH8141. |
[18]καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἐμνήσθη τῆς κιβωτοῦ τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἔπεσεν ἀπὸ τοῦ δίφρου ὀπισθίως ἐχόμενος τῆς πύλης καὶ συνετρίβη ὁ νῶτος αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπέθανεν ὅτι πρεσβύτης ὁ ἄνθρωπος καὶ βαρύς καὶ αὐτὸς ἔκρινεν τὸν ισραηλ εἴκοσι ἔτη |
| [19]And his daughter in lawH3618, Phinehas'H6372 wifeH802, was with childH2030, near to be deliveredH3205[H8800]: and when she heardH8085[H8799] the tidingsH8052 thatH413 the arkH727 of GodH430 was takenH3947[H8736], and that her father in lawH2524 and her husbandH376 were deadH4191[H8804], she bowedH3766[H8799] herself and travailedH3205[H8799]; for her painsH6735 cameH2015 upon herH8738. |
[19]καὶ νύμφη αὐτοῦ γυνὴ φινεες συνειληφυῖα τοῦ τεκεῖν καὶ ἤκουσεν τὴν ἀγγελίαν ὅτι ἐλήμφθη ἡ κιβωτὸς τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ὅτι τέθνηκεν ὁ πενθερὸς αὐτῆς καὶ ὁ ἀνὴρ αὐτῆς καὶ ὤκλασεν καὶ ἔτεκεν ὅτι ἐπεστράφησαν ἐπ αὐτὴν ὠδῖνες αὐτῆς |
| [20]And about the timeH6256 of her deathH4191[H8800] the women that stoodH5324[H8737] by her saidH1696[H8762] unto her, FearH3372[H8799] not; for thou hast bornH3205[H8804] a sonH1121. But she answeredH6030[H8804] not, neither did she regardH7896[H8804] itH3820. |
[20]καὶ ἐν τῷ καιρῷ αὐτῆς ἀποθνῄσκει καὶ εἶπον αὐτῇ αἱ γυναῖκες αἱ παρεστηκυῖαι αὐτῇ μὴ φοβοῦ ὅτι υἱὸν τέτοκας καὶ οὐκ ἀπεκρίθη καὶ οὐκ ἐνόησεν ἡ καρδία αὐτῆς |
| [21]And she namedH7121[H8799] the childH5288 IchabodH350, sayingH559[H8800], The gloryH3519 is departedH1540[H8804] from IsraelH3478: becauseH413 the arkH727 of GodH430 was takenH3947[H8736], and because of her father in lawH2524 and her husbandH376. |
[21]καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ παιδάριον οὐαὶ βαρχαβωθ ὑπὲρ τῆς κιβωτοῦ τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ὑπὲρ τοῦ πενθεροῦ αὐτῆς καὶ ὑπὲρ τοῦ ἀνδρὸς αὐτῆς |

[22]καὶ εἶπαν ἀπῴκισται δόξα ισραηλ ἐν τῷ λημφθῆναι τὴν κιβωτὸν κυρίου |
