Peshitta NT (Etheridge, 1849)
PesNT(Eth)
[1]Beg I therefore of you that from before all things supplications you will offer to Alaha and prayers and intercessions and thanksgiving for the sake of all of them the children of men [1]I REQUIRE then from thee, that, before every thing supplication be offered to Aloha, and prayer and intercession and thanksgiving for all men;
[2]For the sake of kings and rulers that a way of life quiet and tranquil we may inhabit in entire reverence to Alaha and purity [2]For kings and princes, that an habitation quiet and tranquil we may inhabit in all the fear of Aloha and purity.
[3]This for is pleasing and acceptable before Alaha our Lifegiver [3]For this is good and acceptable before Aloha our Saviour;
[4]He Who wills that all of them the children of men shall have life and they shall return to the knowledge of the truth [4]Who willeth that all men should be saved, and turn to the knowledge of the truth.
[5]One is for Alaha and One is The Mediator of Alaha and of the sons of men The Son of Man Ieshu The Messiah [5]For one is Aloha, and one is the Mediator of Aloha and of men; the man Jeshu Meshiha,
[6]He Who gave Himself a ransom in the place of every person a testimony that has come in its time [6]Who gave himself a ransom for every man; a testimony which cometh in its time,
[7]That of which I I am appointed its preacher and apostle of truth say I and not lie I that I am the teacher of the nations in belief of the truth [7]Of which I am constituted an herald and an apostle, I say the truth and lie not, to be a teacher of the nations in the faith of the truth.
[8]Willing I am therefore that would pray men in every place while lifting their hands in purity without rage and without plots [8]I wish then for men to pray in every place, uplifting their hands purely and without wrath and without disputations.
[9]In this way also the women in fashion shall be modest of dress in bashfulness and in modesty shall be their adornment not in braiding and with gold or with pearls or in robes lovely [9]So also let women with decorous simplicity of apparel, with modesty and with chastity, adorn themselves, not with braidings, and with gold, and with pearls, and with fine vestments,
[10]But in works good just as is suitable for women who profess worship of Alaha [10]But with good works, as becometh women who profess the fear of Aloha.
[11]A woman in silence let learn in all submission [11]Let the wife in quietude learn with all submission:
[12]For a woman because to teach not allow I neither to usurp over a man but she should be quiet [12]For unto the wife to teach I permit not, neither to be authoritative over the husband, but to be in quietude.
[13]Adam for was formed first and then Khawwa [13]For Adam was formed first, then Hava;
[14]And Adam not was deceived the woman but was deceived and violated against the command [14]And Adam was not deceived, but the wife was deceived, and transgressed the commandment.
[15]She lives but by her children if they continue in faith and in love and in holiness and in modesty [15]But she is saved by her children, if they continue in faith, and in love, and in sanctification, and in chastity.
