[1]Were but also prophets lying among the people as that also among you shall be teachers lying those who bring heresies of destruction and The Lord Who bought them they deny while bringing upon themselves destruction speedy |
[1]BUT there were false prophets in the world, as also among you there will be false teachers, they who introduce heresies of destruction,ⓘ and, the Lord who bought them denying, bring upon themselves swift destruction. |
[2]And many will go after abominations their these because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed |
[2]And many will go after their wickedness; they, on account of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. |
[3]And by greed and by words of babbling they will make profit among you these whose judgment from the first not is idle and their destruction not sleeps |
[3]And with fraudulencyⓘ of deceptive words will they make merchandise of you; they, whose judgment [denounced] before tarrieth not, and whose destruction doth not sleep. |
[4]If for Alaha upon the angels who sinned not had pity but in chains of darkness He cast down them into the depths and handed over them to be kept for judgment of torment |
[4]For if Aloha upon the angels who sinned was not lenient, but in chains of darkness shut them in the deeps, and delivered them to be kept to the judgment of pain; |
[5]And upon the world first not had mercy but Noah the eighth preacher of righteousness He preserved when a flood over the world of the wicked He brought |
[5]And on the former world was not lenient, but Nûch, who was the eighth preacher of righteousness, he preserved, when the deluge came upon the world of the wicked; |
[6]And when the city of Sodom and of Amora He burned and in an overturning condemned them when an example to the wicked who were going to be He set |
[6]The cities of Sadum and of Omuro he burned, and with overthrow condemned them, while an example to the wicked who should be he set them; |
[7]Also Lot the righteous who suffered indignity had from the way of life which is in abominations that these who without law they were He delivered |
[7]Also Lut the righteous, who was bruised with the impure conversation of the lawless, he delivered; |
[8]While seeing for and while hearing when dwelling was the just he among them day from day his soul righteous by deeds without law tormented had |
[8]—for in sight and in hearing, while [that] just [man] dwelt among them, from day to day, his righteous soul by their lawless works was tortured; |
[9]Knows He the Lord to deliver from suffering those who reverence Him the evil but for the day of judgment while they are being tormented keeps |
[9]—the Lord knoweth how to deliver from affliction them who fear him, but the evil unto the day of judgment to be tormented will he reserve. |
[10]Especially but those who after the flesh in desire of defilement they go and against authority they preach insolent and proud who from the glory not they are shaken when they blaspheme |
[10]But most those who after the flesh follow the concupiscence of impurity, and of authority are contemptuous; daring and arrogant, [and] who by greatnessⓘ are not moved while they blaspheme: |
[11]Whereas the angels who in power and strength are greater than they not bring against them from the Lord a judgment of blasphemy |
[11]Whereas angels, who in power and strength are [so much] greater than they, bring not against them a judgment of blasphemy. |
[12]These but who as animals dumb are by nature for the knife and destruction as in those things that not they know they slander by corruption their they will be destroyed |
[12]But these, as the dumb animals, by nature [ordained] to the knife and to destruction, blaspheming what they know not, in their own destruction will be destroyed; |
[13]When those is with whom evil the payment of evil pleasure is considered by them a banquet that is in the daytime of defilement and they are filled with defects and when they celebrate in their love feasts they indulge themselves |
[13]While they in whom is iniquity the wages of iniquity shall receive. They repute as pleasure the luxury which is in the day. Blemishes [are they], full of spots, who delighting in their refreshments are luxurious: |
[14]When eyes are to them full of adultery and sins that not come to an end as they seduce souls who not are stable and a heart that is trained in greed is to them children of the curse |
[14]Having eyes full of adultery, and sins which cease not, alluring souls that are not established. An heart have they which is disciplined in covetousness; |
[15]And when they abandoned the way straight they strayed and went in the way of Balaam son of Beor him who the wages of evil loved |
[15]Sons of malediction, who, forsaking the straight way, have erred, and gone in the way of Belam bar Beur, who the wages of iniquity loved. |
[16]The reproof but that was to him to his violation a donkey without voice which in a voice of children of men spoke restraining the madness of the prophet |
[16]But he had reproof of his transgression; [for] the dumb ass which spake with the voice of man rebuked the madness of the prophet. |
[17]These are fountains without water clouds which from a hurricane are driven these which gloom of darkness is kept for them |
[17]These are wells without water, clouds driven from above, unto whom the blackness of darkness is reserved. |
[18]When for horrors empty they utter they seduce by desires filthy of the flesh those who by words a few were escaping from those who in deception were employed |
[18]For while they speak scoffing words of vanity, they allure with impure desires of the flesh those who almost escaped from them who have their conversation in error. |
[19]And liberty to them they promise when those servants are of corruption that for thing of which anyone is conquered it this also he is serving |
[19]And liberty to them they promise, while they [themselves] are the servants of corruption; for the thing by which a man is overcome, to that he is subject. |
[20]If for when they have fled from the abominations of the world by the teaching of our Lord Ieshu The Messiah and our Savior in them in these things when they are entangled again they are overcome is it their end worse than the beginning |
[20]For if [when] they have escaped from the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jeshu Meshiha, with those very things entangled they are again over-come, their end becomes worse than the beginning. |
[21]Better it were for them for not to have known the way of righteousness than that when they perceived afterward they would turn away from the decree holy that was delivered to them |
[21]For it had been more tolerable for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, when they knew, to turn backward from the holy commandment delivered to them. |
[22]Have happened to them but these things of the proverb true "the dog that returned to its vomit and the sow that was washed to the wallowing of the mud |
[22]But it hath happened to them according to the true proverb, that The dog hath turned unto his vomit; the sow which had washed into the wallow of the mire. |
