Peshitta NT (Etheridge, 1849)
PesNT(Eth)
[1]You therefore my son be strengthened in the grace which is in Ieshu The Messiah [1]Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha.
[2]And those things that you have heard from me by witnesses many those things I have entrusted to men trustworthy those it has come into whose hands also others to teach [2]And those [doctrines] which thou hast heard from me by many witnesses, them commit to faithful men, who are also able to teach others.
[3]And endure evils as a soldier good of Ieshu The Messiah [3]And endure evils as a good soldier of Jeshu Meshiha.
[4]Not a man a soldier also is bound in matters of the world to please him who has chosen him [4]No man serveth as a soldier, and entangleth himself with the affairs of the world, that he might please him who hath chosen him.
[5]And if competes a man not he is crowned if by the rules not competes [5]And if one contendeth, he is not crowned, unless according to his law he contend.
[6]To the ploughman who toils it is fitting to him first of his crop to be sustained [6]It becometh the husbandman who laboureth that he should first eat of his fruits.
[7]Consider what say I may give to you our Lord wisdom in every thing [7]Understand what I say to thee. Our Lord give thee wisdom in all things.
[8]Call to mind Ieshu The Messiah Who arose from the place of the dead He Who is from the seed of David according to Gospel my [8]Remember Jeshu Meshiha, that he arose from among the dead, he who is of the seed of David, according to my gospel;
[9]In which suffer I evils unto chains as if a doer evil but the word of Alaha not is chained [9]For which I endure evils unto bonds, as an evil-doer: but the word of Aloha is not bound.
[10]Because of this everything endure I for the elect ones that also those may find The Life which is in Ieshu The Messiah with the glory eternal [10]Therefore I endure every thing on account of the elect, that they also may find salvation in Jeshu Meshiha, with the glory that is eternal.
[11]Trustworthy is the word if for we have died with Him also with Him we shall live [11]Faithful is the word: for if we be dead with him, with him also we shall live;
[12]And if we shall suffer also we shall reign with Him if but we reject Him also He will reject us [12]And if we endure, we shall also reign with him; but, if we deny him, he also will deny us!
[13]And if not we shall have believed in Him He in His faithfulness continues to reject for Himself not He is able [13]And if we believe him not, he in his faithfulness abideth; for deny himself he cannot.
[14]These things be reminding them and charging before our Lord that not they shall be disputing about words without profit to the overthrow of those who hear such things [14]Of these [truths] remind them, and testify before our Lord, that they contend not with unprofitable words, to the overturning of those who hear them.
[15]And take care of yourself that you present yourself perfectly before Alaha a laborer without shame who preaches straightforwardly the word of truth [15]And be careful to establish thyself perfectly before Aloha, a workman without shame, preaching rightly the word of truth.
[16]And from words empty there is not in which benefit avoid all the more for will they add upon their wickedness those who converse in them [16]From vain words which have no utility in them withdraw; for they add greatly to the wickedness of those who are occupied with them.
[17]And their speech as a cancer consuming will seize many there is but one of them Humenayus another Philetus [17]And their words as an eating cancer will lay hold upon many: but one of them is Hymeneos, and another Philetos,
[18]These who have wandered from the truth while saying the resurrection of the dead has occurred it and the faith of each man overthrow [18]Who have erred from the truth, saying, that the resurrection of the dead hath been, and the faith of some overturning.
[19]The foundation but firm of Alaha stands that and is to it the seal this and knows the Lord those who His are and let separate from evil everyone who calls on The Name of the Lord [19]But the true foundation of Aloha standeth; and it hath this signature: And the Lord knoweth them who are his. And, Let every one who invoketh the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.
[20]In a house but great not is it vessels of gold only or of silver are in it but also of wood also of pottery some of them for honor and some for dishonor [20]But in a great house there are not vessels of gold only or of silver, but also of wood, also of clay: of them [some are] to honour, and of them [some] to dishonour.
[21]If a man therefore will purify himself from these he is a vessel pure for honor that is suitable for the use of his Lord and ready for every work good [21]If a man then purify himself from these, he will be a pure vessel unto honour, fitted for the use of his Lord, and prepared for every good work.
[22]From all lusts of youth escape and run after righteousness and faith and love and peace with those who call on our Lord in a heart pure [22]From all the lusts of youth escape; and pursue after righteousness, and faith, and charity, and peace, with them who call upon the Lord with a pure heart.
[23]The disputes of fools those that without instruction are abstain from them know you for that conflict they generate [23]From foolish controversies which are without instruction withdraw; for thou knowest that they beget strifes.
[24]A servant but of our Lord not ought to fight but to be humble to every person and instructive and long in his spirit [24]But a servant of the Lord oweth not to strive, but to be gentle towards every man, and teaching, and long-suffering,
[25]That he may instruct those who dispute against him in humility perhaps will give to them Alaha repentance and they shall know the truth [25]That he may instruct them who would contend against him with meekness, if by any means Aloha may give them conversion, and they may acknowledge the truth,
[26]And they will remember their souls and they will break loose from the trap of Satan by whom they were captured for his pleasure [26]And be mindful of themselves, and remove from the snare of Satana, by whom they have been entrapped at his will.
