Vulgata Clementina (1592)
Vul
[1]The hundrid and sixe and thrittithe salm. On the floodis of Babiloyne there we saten, and wepten; while we bithouyten on Syon. [1]Psalmus David, Jeremiæ. Super flumina Babylonis illic sedimus et flevimus, cum recordaremur Sion.
[2]In salewis in the myddil therof; we hangiden vp oure orguns. [2]In salicibus in medio ejus suspendimus organa nostra;
[3]For thei that ledden vs prisoners; axiden vs there the wordis of songis. And thei that ledden awei vs seiden; Synge ye to vs an ympne of the songis of Syon. [3]quia illic interrogaverunt nos, qui captivos duxerunt nos, verba cantionum; et qui abduxerunt nos: Hymnum cantate nobis de canticis Sion.
[4]Hou schulen we singe a songe of the Lord; in an alien lond? [4]Quomodo cantabimus canticum Domini in terra aliena?
[5]If Y foryete thee, Jerusalem; my riyt hond be youun to foryeting. [5]Si oblitus fuero tui, Jerusalem, oblivioni detur dextera mea.
[6]Mi tunge cleue to my chekis; if Y bithenke not on thee. If Y purposide not of thee, Jerusalem; in the bigynnyng of my gladnesse. [6]Adhæreat lingua mea faucibus meis, si non meminero tui; si non proposuero Jerusalem in principio lætitiæ meæ.
[7]Lord, haue thou mynde on the sones of Edom; for the dai of Jerusalem. Whiche seien, Anyntische ye, anyntische ye; `til to the foundement ther ynne. [7]Memor esto, Domine, filiorum Edom, in die Jerusalem, qui dicunt: Exinanite, exinanite usque ad fundamentum in ea.
[8]Thou wretchid douyter of Babiloyne; he is blessid, that `schal yelde to thee thi yelding, which thou yeldidist to vs. [8]Filia Babylonis misera ! beatus qui retribuet tibi retributionem tuam quam retribuisti nobis.
[9]He is blessid, that schal holde; and hurtle doun hise litle children at a stoon. [9]Beatus qui tenebit, et allidet parvulos tuos ad petram.
