[1]ἐγώRP-GSRA-GSM πατήρN3-GSM ἀκούωVA-AAD2P τέκνονN2N-VPN καίC οὕτωςD ποιέωVA-AAD2P ἵναC σώζωVC-APS2P [1]Hear me your father, O children, and do thereafter, that ye may be safe.
[2]RA-NSM γάρX κύριοςN2-NSM δοξάζωVAI-AAI3S πατήρN3-ASM ἐπίP τέκνονN2N-DPN καίC κρίσιςN3I-ASF μήτηρN3-GSF στερεόωVAI-AAI3S ἐπίP υἱόςN2-DPM [2]For the Lord hath given the father honour over the children, and hath confirmed the authority of the mother over the sons.
[3]RA-NSM τιμάωV3-PAPNSM πατήρN3-ASM ἐκἱλάσκομαιV1-PMI3S ἁμαρτίαN1A-APF [3]Whoso honoureth his father maketh an atonement for his sins:
[4]καίC ὡςCRA-NSM ἀποθησαυρίζωV1-PAPNSMRA-NSM δοξάζωV1-PAPNSM μήτηρN3-ASF αὐτόςRD-GSM [4]And he that honoureth his mother is as one that layeth up treasure.
[5]RA-NSM τιμάωV3-PAPNSM πατήρN3-ASM εὐφραίνωVC-FPI3S ὑπόP τέκνονN2N-GPN καίC ἐνP ἡμέραN1A-DSF προσευχήN1-GSF αὐτόςRD-GSM εἰςἀκούωVS-FPI3S [5]Whoso honoureth his father shall have joy of his own children; and when he maketh his prayer, he shall be heard.
[6]RA-NSM δοξάζωV1-PAPNSM πατήρN3-ASM μακροημερεύωVF-FAI3S καίCRA-NSM εἰςἀκούωV1-PAPNSM κύριοςN2-GSM ἀναπαύωVF-FAI3S μήτηρN3-ASF αὐτόςRD-GSM [6]He that honoureth his father shall have a long life; and he that is obedient unto the Lord shall be a comfort to his mother.
[7]καίC ὡςC δεσπότηςN1M-DPM δουλεύωVF-FAI3S ἐνPRA-DPM γεννάωVA-AAPDPM αὐτόςRD-ASM [7]He that feareth the Lord will honour his father, and will do service unto his parents, as to his masters.
[8]ἐνP ἔργονN2N-DSN καίC λόγοςN2-DSM τιμάωV3-PAD2SRA-ASM πατήρN3-ASM σύRP-GS ἵναC ἐπιἔρχομαιVB-AAS3S σύRP-DS εὐλογίαN1A-NSF παράP αὐτόςRD-GSM [8]Honour thy father and mother both in word and deed, that a blessing may come upon thee from them.
[9]εὐλογίαN1A-NSF γάρX πατήρN3-GSM στηρίζωV1-PAI3S οἶκοςN2-APM τέκνονN2N-GPN κατάραN1A-NSF δέX μήτηρN3-GSF ἐκῥιζόωV4-PAI3S θεμέλιονA1B-APN [9]For the blessing of the father establisheth the houses of children; but the curse of the mother rooteth out foundations.
[10]μήD δοξάζωV1-PMD2S ἐνP ἀτιμίαN1A-DSF πατήρN3-GSM σύRP-GS οὐD γάρX εἰμίV9-PAI3S σύRP-DS δόξαN1S-NSF πατήρN3-GSM ἀτιμίαN1A-NSF [10]Glory not in the dishonour of thy father; for thy father's dishonour is no glory unto thee.
[11]RA-NSF γάρX δόξαN1S-NSF ἄνθρωποςN2-GSM ἐκP τιμήN1-GSF πατήρN3-GSM αὐτόςRD-GSM καίC ὄνειδοςN3E-ASN τέκνονN2N-DPN μήτηρN3-NSF ἐνP ἀδοξίαN1A-DSF [11]For the glory of a man is from the honour of his father; and a mother in dishonour is a reproach to the children.
[12]τέκνονN2N-VSN ἀντιλαμβάνωVB-AMD2S ἐνP γῆραςN3-DSN πατήρN3-GSM σύRP-GS καίC μήD λυπέωVA-AAS2S αὐτόςRD-ASM ἐνPRA-DSF ζωήN1-DSF αὐτόςRD-GSM [12]My son, help thy father in his age, and grieve him not as long as he liveth.
[13]καΐἄνC+X ἀπολείπωV1-PAS3S σύνεσιςN3I-ASF συγγνώμηN1-ASF ἔχωV1-PAD2S καίC μήD ἀτιμάζωVA-AAS2S αὐτόςRD-ASM ἐνP πᾶςA1S-DSF ἰσχύςN3U-DSF σύRP-GS [13]And if his understanding fail, have patience with him; and despise him not when thou art in thy full strength.
[14]ἐλεημοσύνηN1-NSF γάρX πατήρN3-GSM οὐD ἐπιλανθάνωVS-FPI3S καίC ἀντίP ἁμαρτίαN1A-GPF προσ ἀναοἰκοδομέωVC--FPI3S σύRP-DS [14]For the relieving of thy father shall not be forgotten: and instead of sins it shall be added to build thee up.
[15]ἐνP ἡμέραN1A-DSF θλῖψιςN3I-GSF σύRP-GS ἀναμιμνήσκωVS-FPI3S σύRP-GS ὡςC εὐδίαN1A-NSF ἐπίP παγετόςN2-DSM οὕτωςD ἀναλύωVC-FPI3P σύRP-GSRA-NPF ἁμαρτίαN1A-NPF [15]In the day of thine affliction it shall be remembered; thy sins also shall melt away, as the ice in the fair warm weather.
[16]ὡςC βλάσφημοςA1B-NSMRA-NSM ἐν καταλείπωVB-AAPNSM πατήρN3-ASM καίC καταἀράομαιVM-XMPNSM ὑπόP κύριοςN2-GSMRA-NSM παραὀργίζωV1-PAPNSM μήτηρN3-ASF αὐτόςRD-GSM [16]He that forsaketh his father is as a blasphemer; and he that angereth his mother is cursed: of God.
[17]τέκνονN2N-NSN ἐνP πραΰτηςN3T-DSFRA-APN ἔργονN2N-APN σύRP-GS δια ἐκἄγωV1-PAD2S καίC ὑπόP ἄνθρωποςN2-GSM δεκτόςA1-GSM ἀγαπάωVC-FPI2S [17]My son, go on with thy business in meekness; so shalt thou be beloved of him that is approved.
[18]ὅσοςA1-DSM μέγαςA1P-NSM εἰμίV9-PAI2S τοσοῦτοA1-DSM ταπεινόςA1-GSM σεαυτοῦRD-ASM καίC ἔναντιP κύριοςN2-GSM εὑρίσκωVF-FAI2S χάριςN3-ASF [18]The greater thou art, the more humble thyself, and thou shalt find favour before the Lord.
19[No verse] [19]Many are in high place, and of renown: but mysteries are revealed unto the meek.
[20]ὅτιC μέγαςA1-NSFRA-NSF δυναστείαN1A-NSFRA-GSM κύριοςN2-GSM καίC ὑπόPRA-GPM ταπεινόςA1-GPM δοξάζωV1-PMI3S [20]For the power of the Lord is great, and he is honoured of the lowly.
[21]χαλεπόςA1-APNC σύRP-GS μήD ζητέωV2-PAD2S καίC ἰσχυρόςA1A-APNC σύRP-GS μήD ἐκἐτάζωV1-PAD2S [21]Seek not out things that are too hard for thee, neither search the things that are above thy strength.
[22]ὅςRR-NPN προςτάσσωVDI-API3S σύRP-DS οὗτοςRD-APN διανοέομαιV2-PMD2S οὐD γάρX εἰμίV9-PAI3S σύRP-DS χρείαN1A-NSFRA-GPN κρυπτόςA1-GPN [22]But what is commanded thee, think thereupon with reverence, for it is not needful for thee to see with thine eyes the things that are in secret.
[23]ἐνPRA-DPN περισσόςA1-DPNRA-GPN ἔργονN2N-GPN σύRP-GS μήD περιἐργάζομαιV1-PMD2S πολύςA3C-ASM γάρX σύνεσιςN3I-GSF ἄνθρωποςN2-GPM ὑποδεικνύωVQI-API3S σύRP-DS [23]Be not curious in unnecessary matters: for more things are shewed unto thee than men understand.
[24]πολύςA1-APM γάρX πλανάωVAI-AAI3SRA-NSF ὑπόλημψιςN3I-NSF αὐτόςRD-GPM καίC ὑπόνοιαN1A-NSF πονηρόςA1A-NSF ὀλισθαίνωVAI-AAI3S διάνοιαN1A-APF αὐτόςRD-GPM [24]For many are deceived by their own vain opinion; and an evil suspicion hath overthrown their judgment.
25[No verse] [25]Without eyes thou shalt want light: profess not the knowledge therefore that thou hast not.
[26]καρδίαN1A-NSF σκληρόςA1A-NSF κακόωVC-FPI3S ἐπίP ἔσχατοA1-GPN καίCRA-NSM ἀγαπάωV3-PAPNSM κίνδυνοςN2-ASM ἐνP αὐτόςRD-DSM ἀποὀλλύωVF2-FMI3S [26]A stubborn heart shall fare evil at the last; and he that loveth danger shall perish therein.
[27]καρδίαN1A-NSF σκληρόςA1A-NSF βαρύνωVC-FPI3S πόνοςN2-DPM καίCRA-NSM ἁμαρτωλόςA1B-NSM προςτίθημιVF-FAI3S ἁμαρτίαN1A-ASF ἐπίP ἁμαρτίαN1A-DPF [27]An obstinate heart shall be laden with sorrows; and the wicked man shall heap sin upon sin.
[28]ἐπαγωγήN1-DSF ὑπερήφανοςA1B-GSM οὐD εἰμίV9-PAI3S ἴασιςN3I-NSF φυτόνN2N-NSN γάρX πονηρίαN1A-GSF ῥιζόωVX-XAI3S ἐνP αὐτόςRD-DSM [28]In the punishment of the proud there is no remedy; for the plant of wickedness hath taken root in him.
[29]καρδίαN1A-NSF συνετόςA1-GSM διανοέομαιVC-FPI3S παραβοληN1-ASF καίC οὖςN3T-NSN ἀκροατήςN1M-GSM ἐπιθυμίαN1A-NSF σοφόςA1-GSM [29]The heart of the prudent will understand a parable; and an attentive ear is the desire of a wise man.
[30]πῦρN3-ASN φλογίζωV1-PMPASN ἀποσβέννυμιVF-FAI3S ὕδωρN3-NSN καίC ἐλεημοσύνηN1-NSF ἐκἱλάσκομαιVF-FMI3S ἁμαρτίαN1A-APF [30]Water will quench a flaming fire; and alms maketh an atonement for sins.
[31]RA-NSM ἀντι ἀποδίδωμιV8-PAPNSM χάριςN3T-APF μιμνήσκωVM-XMI3S εἰςPRA-APN μετάP οὗτοςRD-APN καίC ἐνP καιρόςN2-DSM πτῶσιςN3I-GSF αὐτόςRD-GSM εὑρίσκωVF-FAI3S στήριγμαN3M-ASN [31]And he that requiteth good turns is mindful of that which may come hereafter; and when he falleth, he shall find a stay.
