Peshitta NT (literal)
PesNT(lit)
Vulgata Clementina (1592)
Vul
[1]Trustworthy is the saying that if a man desires eldership a work good he desires [1]Fidelis sermo: si quis episcopatum desiderat, bonum opus desiderat.
[2]And ought but to be an elder such that a fault not is found in him and be a husband of one woman which of vigilant mind and sober and orderly and loves strangers and is a teacher [2]Oportet ergo episcopum irreprehensibilem esse, unius uxoris virum, sobrium, prudentem, ornatum, pudicum, hospitalem, doctorem,
[3]And not he transgresses concerning wine and not is swift his hand to strike but should be humble and not contentious neither loves money [3]non vinolentum, non percussorem, sed modestum: non litigiosum, non cupidum, sed
[4]And he leads his house well and holds his children in subjection in all purity [4]suæ domui bene præpositum: filios habentem subditos cum omni castitate.
[5]If for the house of himself not he knows to lead well how? can he the church of Alaha lead [5]Si quis autem domui suæ præesse nescit, quomodo ecclesiæ Dei diligentiam habebit?
[6]Neither shall he be a youth of his discipleship lest he be lifted up and would fall into the judgment of Satan [6]Non neophytum: ne in superbiam elatus, in judicium incidat diaboli.
[7]And there ought but that also testimony excellent be to him from outsiders lest he fall into shame and into the trap of Satan [7]Oportet autem illum et testimonium habere bonum ab iis qui foris sunt, ut non in opprobrium incidat, et in laqueum diaboli.
[8]And also ministers in this way shall be pure and not should speak two things neither shall they be inclined to wine much nor love riches defiled [8]Diaconos similiter pudicos, non bilingues, non multo vino deditos, non turpe lucrum sectantes:
[9]But they should hold the mystery of the faith in a conscience pure [9]habentes mysterium fidei in conscientia pura.
[10]And those such should be proved first and then let them serve when they are without fault [10]Et hi autem probentur primum: et sic ministrent, nullum crimen habentes.
[11]In this way also wives should be modest and will be alert in their minds and shall be faithful in every thing and not they should be ? slanderers [11]Mulieres similiter pudicas, non detrahentes, sobrias, fideles in omnibus.
[12]Ministers shall be he who one woman has to him and leads his children and his house well [12]Diaconi sint unius uxoris viri, qui filiis suis bene præsint, et suis domibus.
[13]Those for who serve well a rank good purchase for themselves and opening of face much in the faith of Ieshu The Messiah [13]Qui enim bene ministraverint, gradum bonum sibi acquirent, et multam fiduciam in fide, quæ est in Christo Jesu.
[14]These things have written I to you while hope I that soon shall come I to you [14]Hæc tibi scribo, sperans me ad te venire cito:
[15]And if it is but that delay I that you may know how it is necessary to behave in the household of Alaha which is the church of Alaha The Living the pillar and foundation of the truth [15]si autem tardavero, ut scias quomodo oporteat te in domo Dei conversari, quæ est ecclesia Dei vivi, columna et firmamentum veritatis.
[16]And truly great is mystery this of righteousness which was revealed in the flesh and was justified in The Spirit and He appeared to angels and was preached among the nations and He was trusted in the world and He ascended into the glory [16]Et manifeste magnum est pietatis sacramentum, quod manifestatum est in carne, justificatum est in spiritu, apparuit angelis, prædicatum est gentibus, creditum est in mundo, assumptum est in gloria.
